I had the pleasure of meeting Vern Gosdin at his home in Ardmore Tennessee shortly after leaving the US Navy in the early 90's. My step-father and Vern were pretty good buddies so we dropped by to see him for a short visit. He and his wife were gracious host and were more interested in me and my military service. We spoke a short while about his career and his success. Over the next few years I bought my first guitar and began covering all of my favorite country artist, including Vern. I'm thankful for the opportunity of meeting him. He was one of the good guys RIP Vern Gosdin, a.k.a. "The Voice."
Vern Gosdin defined country music.. I loved all of his songs but my favorite has always been Till The End and Chiseled In Stone. He never got the recognition he deserved in my opinion. Thanks for sharing this
I met Vern one time at The Home Depot in Nashville off Powell Dr. He was very friendly. At that time he was having trouble walking after his stroke. But he could still sing what a great talent & nice man.
My goodness. Intelligent and insightful look at Vern’s career. I met him when I opened shows for him in 1987. He had recorded for or five of the songs that ended up on his first CBS album. Great stuff. Buddy Cannon said that Vern finally found a producer (Bob Montgomery) who was smart enough to get out of Vern’s way and let him make his record. Later on I wrote some songs with Vern and recorded some with him. He was in great shape then: He’d quit smoking and (mostly) quit drinking and was running every day. Good and memorable times. Thanks again.
@@CMSProductions Indeed I do. Some best kept to myself😊 But seriously, you do a great job. It’s obvious that you’ve done your research and know what you’re talking about. Vern was a great one. Best ear for harmonies of anyone I’ve known. Wait, I see that I’m not subscribed. I’ll fix this now.
Mark, This was going to be my retirement job but as it turns out that when I retired the people i was employed by offered me more money to come back than my wife would let me refuse. So I will try to post 2 songs for the music playlist a day and a new video of a country star on Saturdays by 4 pm. I am glad you like the videos and I appreciate that you took the time to write a comment and your kind words. There are more videos coming.
Randy Travis did a rendition of Set 'em up Joe, which I think was very well done. Honestly prefer Randy's version over Vern's even though Vern's is good... but that's just me.
@@CMSProductions Heath is my acter and meat loaf was my favorite pediatrical Rucker and I think legend should be always thought of especially on UA-cam channel that's good as yours so come on man please we need meatloaf and Heath ledger and also it's worth the wait even if it takes years

Vern Gosdin was my favorite singer
George Jones is mine but I have to say that Vern is a close second. There is a reason in country music circles that they called him "The Voice"
Love his music since first time I saw it
There is a reason that they called him "The Voice". I have to admit I have been a long time fan myself. Thank you for watching.
