    I'm a 16 year old kid getting raised by a man in his 70s(long time family friend) bc my parent's aren't around, he preaches the lessons he was taught, shows me how to be a man and to defend myself by whatever means I need to, but never start a fight, thank you Wes!

      As long as you do your best and stand firm on what you believe, and never let anyone break you down you will make it man. That’s all outlaws really chased, was the fleeting freedom on the horizon of their youth and sense of wonder

    From a young wild kid with a broken home to hangin with all the wrong crowds and ending up with permanent repercussions and then going to a working man starting with nothing but a nickel and a dream that one day I can change.. this song hits hard. I wish I had payed attention to pops and his music more as a kid, maybe then I’d be a different man.. but here’s to the change. Never forget where you come from on the journey.. it’ll help shape you.

    I grew up my whole life looking at pictures of my dad who played a banjo and sang in a band. I never met him. He died a little bit after I was born in a plane crash while smuggling grass out of Colombia in the 70s. His body was never recovered and all I got growing up were stories and my pictures my mom had. He was from the south and for some reason I always thought of him when I ever heard Waylon, even though I never met him. Thank you Waylon. R.I.P. Carl V Harris

    I got to see Waylon's grave. I traveled back to Mesa Az where I was born. While drinking hard I always went to this gas station.. saw this old man who plays guitar .named Richard. I always through him some bucks for buskin. I drove him around a couple times to help him out. We jammed together as well. Anyway he told me Waylon's grave was up the street ..was hard to believe until we went and he found it . Richard played with Waylon a time or 2 . Amazing story alot I'm leaving out but good lord. What a wild world. Country legend .

Now I am a married man to a woman that I've been with for 12 years now and has a beautiful daughter. if it wasn't for my 4 best friends growing up with and working with I wouldn't be leaving this comment to show and express on how much this song means to me... brotherhood. Old country has a meaning its not all about money like music now.

    • @ducky1933
      @ducky1933 7 років тому +3

      rando commando Yes but not as much money as they ask for now a days and music back then had a meaning and was to get their opinion out like this song here.

    • @tinadarm777
      @tinadarm777 7 років тому +4

      rando commando money was the goal even during their days BUT most had a story to tell, truth to speak and it costed them lots of money they could've had. Waylon left music row coz they wanted to censor the truth he was singing and he made his own records then. Lots of artist done same.
      You take someone like Luke Bryan (who's music I actually like) he sings about girls shaking their tails etc...there's no real deep meaning to his music, it doesn't make you THINK like some lyrics can. His music is for fame and money. Then someone like Chris Stapleton, Hank 3 and others come along...their songs force you to sit up and take notice, all while they are earning money.

    • @TheWoodsmanMilling
      @TheWoodsmanMilling 7 років тому +3

      +Momma B3ar I totally agree with you, and I own some Waylon and some Chris Stapleton CDs. I think though that the ones like Waylon Johnny Kris and all of em would be depressed to see what the new "country" music is, I know I am, but Chris Stapleton and the few others like him give me a bit of hope again.

My buddies 16 year old brother looks at me and says "you're a bit older than me. Don't you think you should be a good role model and not talk about what happens in the bar?" I looked at him and was serious when I said it, but I said "I think I'm being a pretty good role model. When have you ever heard any of my stories from the bar that ended good?" he laughed and said point taken. Moral of the story is that with this old country music, they tell a story. Not all stories have happy endings but there's a lesson to be learned. Sometimes it's, don't follow in my footsteps

      I know what you mean before I joined the Army me and my ex wife were ride and together. When I went to the 3rd time she got pregnant by another man, took $70,000, the brand new car I just bought her before I left. When I came home I had nothing. I wish to God that I can find an honest, loyal woman willing to jump on the back our Harley and just ride.
