Nice sum up Liz . He did indeed a lot SCL competitions and always have been fair with us. In fact his first international win ever.... was the SCL LATVIA IN 2013 . HE also won the SCL WORLDS STRONGEST VIKING IN 2015. So yes/ /we have history together and it will be epic coming weekend!
Ladies & Gentlemen of the SCL you need to market better, i like MANY others know little about SCL, the general population barely knows about the 4 big annual shows much less local, regional, national shows and it’s even worse for women and people don’t even realise the existence of under xx weight category competitions
Strongman needs to stop being a niche sport stuck in some parallel universe!!!
SCL you need to pay the athletes first before inviting some big stars. Marcel owes so much money to a lot of athletes
@mariusastier8138 i thought the local promoter was responsible for prize money, the SCL is a franchise in theory. Hence why the english stage has been cancelled as unbreakable promotions lost sponsors.
How can we access more recent events, the latest edition iv seen is the 2022 season on samsung tv. Iv been to the last two live in Gloucester and your shows are excellent i just wish the coverage was better and we got more advertising
I actually find it quite admirable of him. He knows he's got some catching up to do, he respects the grind and doesn't think he's too cool for school. Go Thor!

From what I know of the athletes competing, everybody is excited to compete against him. SCL comps are a party where everybody is having fun, doesn't matter if you podium or come dead last.
As a long time strongman fan, SCL feels like it’s in a parallel universe. Zero online presence, you never even know it even happens but apparently it’s huge.

@@laal6290 Yeah, it gets covered a lot here. WSM on the other hand is not as well known here, as far as I know.
A lot of Finns compete in SCL comps, it's quite well known in the pro scene I think. But most viewers on the other hand only know the WSM, Arnold's, Rogue etc. I entirely agree on the parallel universe feeling!

I love the SCL. They always have cool events in cool places. Thor's gonna smoke everyone though
This is awesome! It really helps SCL get exposure (and sponsors)! I highly doubt it's a big pay day at SCL so I think you can rule out money being the motivation for Thor. He'll be doing it to help the sport and also to help himself. It's humble of him, the 2nd Strongest Man on Earth, to drop down to lower level strongman events. A great ambassador for the sport. For some reason my smart TV has a SCL channel which shows all the SCL over the years on an endless loop.
Thor was always fair for SCL . HIS first international win ever ... was SCL LATVIA . AND yes...we broadcast in 100 countries. Also good for Thor
Not a fan of Dubai, personally, but I'm glad to see Thor getting some comp experience and hope the other athletes get a bit of the spotlight as well.
Seeing Thor back and finishing 2nd in the Strongest Man on Earth after a pretty serious injury is inspiring. He’s a true embodiment of pushing through adversity because some guys just don’t come back that strong after an injury like that and threw himself into the gauntlet and killed it. He may have not came in first but it’s still a win for him and for the sport of strongman. Makes me want to push myself In the gym even harder no matter what is going on in my life. The iron is the ultimate therapy.
SCL used to present a very strong frield back in the early 2010's. Happy to see him back there
I remember the days of Zagaris and Belsak destroying everyone in the SCL. We also got to see the likes of Graham Hicks and a very young Tom Stoltman....it was an epic time in strongman 💯

It doesn't make sense for them. Top athletes are already super busy. The grand slam then some giants live is a lot already.

Nowadays with better paying shows and better income avenues it's best for them to do far less. Like 4-6 shows is prolly optimal.

That's awesome i really liked thor in scl in the snow was sooo strongman not like in a comfortable arena ! Maybe by signing in scl like before with hafthor, they could improve their visibility and do concurrence to giants live

Thor in SCL could allow him to set up the deadlift record in a comp outside of big 4 and Giants. It would be brilliant PR for them and a big F you to Giants Live and Worlds. 👀
I doubt it because SCL have a good relationship with GL and World's and SCL is great for grassroots for the European athletes
Sounds like a great idea for Thor and good for him for not just gunning for the top shows. I'm hoping Mateusz Kieliszkowski does something similar to get his nervous system and mentality back in comp shape before jumping into a larger shows 🤘💪

This is a good idea. Thor needs still needs to knock some rust off. SCL will get him a variety of events he hasn't done in a while and none of the weights will be heavy enough to risk an injury.

Don't think it's televised live. I usually just watch the SCL on my smart TV. There is a channel of SCL on repeat.

Does anyone is the SCL England (Wolverhampton) is going ahead this month. Had tickets, but received a refund with no notification of why. Can’t find any further details.

What happened is the main sponser which was fronting the comp pulled out so as a result Unbreakable had to cancel the comp tbh I wasn't fan of the idea of them moving the comp from Gloucester when it was a cool location and it's outdoors. Not fan of how The Hanger in Wolverhampton looks in pictures

Thors main source of income is appearances for game of thrones and appearances for sponsors, both those sources severely dried up during the pandemic, then he didn't get paid for the boxing match. You are too young too understand but he is most definitely back for money
