Thank you for visiting, Brian. You are as humble and nice as you are big and strong. 🙏🏽💪🏽
Your lucky to have Brian Shaw at your place 😊
Efren. It takes a great man to share the inmense treasure that you have, not for value (as very, very valuable as it is) but for the history. Thank you for this video, this has to be one of my favorites of all time of this channel. Best from Spain
@@PtrckThank you for the kind words. I love the old iron as you may be able to tell 💪🏽
Awesome collection you have. Thanks for allowing Brian to show us bro
Amazing tour, thanks for sharing 👏
I'm 79 and been lifting since HS a Atlas 110 barbell and dumbbells. I have never seen such a collection. I'm blown away. Thankyou really enjoyed this, Brian Shaw.
It's always cool to remember what you started with. For me it was the York plastic coated cement weights on a very janky York bench.
This is probably the closest thing to a weights museum as we will ever get
Not sure if that’s good or bad, but I use it all 🙏🏽💪🏽
@@EfrenLifts it's a great thing! I would pay an admission for a tour of what you have and to learn the history behind each piece.
@@MrTheFox101 Definitely.
There is a museum in York, PA. I've always wanted to go there.
Doesn't Jan todd have a weights museum of sorts?
You know a guy loves his collection when not only he can talk nonstop about it, but there are comfy chairs strategically pointed at the entirety of it.
Thanks for noticing. My favorite spot in the house 😊
@@EfrenLifts my garage/man cave always includes a couple spots to reflect. Fantastic stewardship of the collections sir.
@@EfrenLiftsI'm a dance historian and I feel that way when I go through my private archive have curated over the last 25 years as well.
My buddy has rotating rocking chairs in the middle of a room that has fish tanks on all 4 walls!
Don't care about vintage weights, but the passion Efren and Brian have for them made it fun to watch the whole video through.
I'm the same. I'll listen to anyone talk about their special interest.
Exactly, I don’t know enough about them but you can hear the passion.
This was just two dudes hooking Titleists 140 yards into the woods and taking four Mulligans more than the law allows while four putting on a par 3. 😜😜
This is why you should always follow your passion and interests above money and mainstream. There is always an audience for whatever it may be, and it'll grow because people are attracted to true passion... it sparks interest. I love it.
Facts!
It just goes to show you don't have to be the WSM, Powerlifter, Body Builder or even the biggest guy ever to have a passion for strength and i for one am truly infatuated by Efren's enthusiasm, Genuinely made my day seeing this Thank you
You could see the love and passion this guy has for the history of all this equipment. What a lovely guy!
Men will literally look at pieces of iron for hours close to cry. Women will never understand this passion
plenty of women will understand it, dont be that guy @@Inventor1488
Thank you for the kind words
@@Inventor1488 women will understand too lol there’s plenty of women who love weights
@@POOCOMESFROMFOODYeah, right ! 😂😂😂😂
This guy has covered A LOT of ground in 5 years. I thought he might just be a guy with money who started buying weights as a fan but he really knows his stuff and is super passionate. I love this sort of content!
Efren is so smart. You can see the passion he has for this type of collection
We all knew it but this proves Brian is a total geek on old weights. I'm not but love this collection and Efren knows so much about the history of it, amazing.
Thank you sir
Just 2 nerds nerding it out! so cool
Just men looking at iron while smiling. We are so simple and different than women😂
😁🙏💪
Efren is and even sounds like a super smart kind nerd that just came across a god of weightlifting and both are just 👀👀👀 *fan girling*
This is one of the finest and most respectful UA-cam commwnt sections I've ever seen. Congrats everyone. And Effren, incredible is all I need to say.
This is actually one of the favorite videos I have ever seen. I’ve never really been into vintage wheats or anything like that, but I can tell just how much history in reference there is around this. Seeing how respectful you were around his collection was absolutely amazing.
Gotta love the vintage wheats
@@MegaLaban12345Shut up
Brian is a class act. Thank you
Vintage wheats ?
@EfrenLifts As are you Sir.
He really is very knowledgeable about all the weight. Very impressive. I had no idea that there was that many different brands and he has them all. He tells about them and is not boring. I could listen to him all day. You looked like a kid in a candy store. I don't blame you at all. Very impressive collection.
Thank you very much
Those York plates with the thick hub at 10:15-10:30 were the only olympic weights in the weight room at the base gym in St Hubert Quebec, when I was working out there in 1979-1980. I knew they were old, but to find out they were from the 1930s is amazing. they had about 8 of the 45s and about 4 of the 35 and 25s each from the same set/timeframe.
One of the fun things to watch is Brian as he listens and learns..his hands go into his pockets. In many of the videos his hands are out and expressive. But as he listens and be careful of his surroundings his hands go right back into the pockets. Big love to you Brian you are a true inspiration and an amazing human being!
This guys passion is contagious. Epic collection!
Honestly this is one of the best videos you've done. Thanks!
I feel like you two need to team up and do a series of videos looking for vintage weights and interviewing the owners. "Finding Iron" sounds like a good name to me. 💪
That is a great idea
Better than "Finding wood"
@@MrTornrooslol
Absolutely!
Hunting for Gains
Buying weights for your home gym is one of the best investments you could ever make as they will easily last a lifetime. I still have weight plates that I bought in 1968 which will be passed on and could possibly last for centuries in many different home gyms.
As a 70-year lifter and collector, I really appreciate this video. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
How costly are some of the weights? Most people don't have a clue.
As a swede, it's so cool to see Eleiko weights in his collection. I would love to hear more about those plates with the SWEDEN stamp.
Awsome collection and video!
The size of Brian's smile throughout the tour was a joy to see. @EfrenLifts, your collection is fantastic!
@xxacidmv thank you so much for
Honestly always love the videos brian and the last couple months youve been on a role. But something about the level of respect you showed in this and the way you let thus collector explain everything about what hes got . Hands down one of the best videos I’ve seen from any one in a long time.
I know nothing about vintage weights but passion is contagious and this man has it in spades.
Thank you sir
One of the coolest fitness posts I've seen in a long time. Thanks for sharing Brian!
Man. So much positive energy. I’m no power lifter but the history and effort to build that collection and the history. Thanks so much for sharing this with us all!
This gentleman is passionate about his collection and talks so easily about it. He is so comfortable talking about it and seems so eager to share. I love listening to people like this. It’s awesome to be around people who get excited about the same things that you do. Brian is equally excited. Great video and refreshing to see!
Thank you sir
Brian eventually, “ok what can I lift?” 😂
Couldn’t help himself 😅
Can you imagine how stoked Efren was to have Brian come and show the world his collection? Love these guys, their passion is infectious!
This ended up being one of the best things I've seen! The pure joy in this video is just amazing! 😍😍😍
Thanks so much
Your enthusiasm when talking about your collection is just as amazing as the collection itself. I LOVE the passion you have, it puts a big fat smile on my face! Thank you🙏🥳
This guy is incredible! With his and Shaw passion plus knowledge would make a great “history of strength” series
At the beginning, those plates purchased in 1959 are in better shape, than most plates in modern gyms today. Efren CARES about this stuff and wants it to stay in the best shape it can be.
Thank you. I use all my stuff as much as possible and I want to make sure things stay in good shape for me and for the next generation 💪
@@EfrenLifts like other people have said, your garage is like a museum for weights. I can only imagine the stories those plates would have if they could talk
Because they aren’t used. Lol
Everybody looks so small next to Brian lol I didn't even know collecting vintage weights was a thing. Seeing how much stuff has changed was really fun to watch
I have minimal to no interest in weights, but I found this video so interesting. Two humble men with incredible knowledge. Thank you.
21:06 this is amazing. Providing people with a reference and historical context for the vintage weights they are seeing and/or buying is awesome. What a public service and many buyers and sellers will thank you. You're a great man.
I wish I had this amount of passion for anything. That dude is inspirational. Love to see it
I've been watching and subscribed for years. Watching you blow people out of the water as a kid in my 27 years of life in competition and every video till now about. Watching this was a kid in the candy shop. You've reached the top! Your name will now live forever! I aspire to meet you and your family some day!
That was bad ass. Traveling through time with weights. The coolest thing ever to see history. Thank you Brian. Much love and God bless.
Brian looks like a kid in a candy store, so happy! It's amazing to see this collection. I can't image how it would be being there. You can see how much joy it brings them both just standing there and talking about all the weights.
Where's part 2? All the bars in the beams and memorabelia in the glass cases.
Your love for the history of weight lifting literally translates through the lens. What a cool video. What a nice guy Efren is! You're just amazing, Bryan. Big fan from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Brian, have Efren bring some of his old classic weights to the Shaw Classic to display for your fans.
Great idea
So wicked, community passion and bonds can be built around anything cars, weights etc
What a cool dude! Love the enthusiasm and the work he does for the hobby!
Brian, this was a fascinating video. Thank you. 😊
Watching this from York, PA 💪🏻
Awesome!
Watching this from Sunbury not to far from ya
Watching from harrisburg. 30 mins from york
This is the kind of guy you hope collects important things. The passion and stewardship is so reassuring. So often special things like this fall on the wayside. Good man.
Thank you for the kind words
I never thought much about weights being collector item as it’s not something I typically think of people collecting, but I love his passion About his collection, I find it fascinating what people find to inspire them and collect. It’s so much more than just weights, it’s the history and story they tell through the collection just like other collectors and their pieces.
Yes sir you are most right. Thank you
Incredible tour!! Thank you for making this.
Absolutely fine if the best videos you've ever done... This collection is just amazing and the history of it all is mind-blowing.
This video is actually perfect!
Nothing could have been done better - perfect content - perfect presented and perfect humble reaction 💪🏼
Bless Efren!
We need to protect this man at all costs!!!
Thank you so much
I don't save many videos, but this one is a must. What a treat to see this amazing collection. I love that he has theater chairs available to just sit and admire all the great things gathered so closely together. Thanks for doing this!!!
Thats probably the most valuable room in the world which is in simultaneously zero risk of a smash and grab robbery
I think you are right, wouldn’t be very smart to try to run away with a 100lb plate 😅
I bet Brian could do it..
@@joek7031he's casing the place lol
One of my favorite episodes ever...2 guys who love weights!!! Efren seems like a fantastic guy!!! Well done Brian and thanks for sharing true history!!!
Thank you for the kind words
What a great episode!! This collection is absolutely amazing.
Thanks Brian for taking us on that trip with u. Cool to watch you go through something that is such a passion. REALLY cool equipment. Like a museum!
WOW this is an awesome collection and this was an incredible video
Thank you so much
I was hoping you were buying them... So we could see them more. They're all in amazing condition. I do like that he actually used them. Some wouldn't. I Hope everyone is doing great.
It is amazing that these two men became the exact same size in this video. Two truly passionate people talking about their shared love…. These kinds of videos areI interesting to people who never even heard of collecting weights….! Good on both of you guys! Class acts.
Thank you for the kind words
Wow how amazing to see this collection, I’m no body builder or strongman by any means but I’ve been in the gym and worked out since I was 17 at 52 now I’m amazed and impressed by this video.
Thanks so much for taking me through his collection
Brian you should design your own vintage style cast plates or dumbells and add to the tradition. I bet you could get some decent traction.
The historical significance is the interesting part, not the design per se. I'm not saying that wouldn't be cool, just that there might be only a very small market for this, while developing molds / industrial equipment to build is really only feasible for mass production.
Brian proves again that giants can be both respectful and kind. Efren has such a passion for collecting antique weights that it guided him to amass one of the best collections on the planet. Awesome episode!
@officialSHAWSTRENGTHg FYI. As a customer of Shaw Strength, they have my phone number and email address and vice-versa, so I know you’re a scammer posing to represent B. Shaw.
This is also confirmed BC the linked profile just joined the channel 30 minutes ago. So get a real job and stop being a criminal. JS
I really enjoyed his enthusiasm and passion for his hobby
This was incredible. The passion Efren has is beautiful. Thanks for sharing, man. This collection is insane.
Absolutely incredible. But those Zuver plates are like the Fabergé Eggs of weightlifting equipment.
Efren is one of the chillest dudes ever, you can tell how much passion he has for those weights and that collection. It was also awesome to see Brian act like a kid in a candy store the entire video.
Thank you for the kind words
That is an amazing collection. Thanks Yous for sharing this.
Man, all of these equipment probably have a story through each person. That made a impact that has changed many individuals. Like omg so cool, its like all there hardwork is printed on the equipment!
tell me you have money without telling me You have Money Sheesh love the collation.
I love watching Brian get excited about vintage equipment the collection was amazing
Brain Shaw + Magnus Midtbo Collab would be so cool! 🤩
That was a joy to watch. I know it's a bit on the longer side, but I enjoyed every second. So much respect given towards the collection from both of you. Efren does an amazing job too at maintaining it all like it was just bought yesterday. Maybe you and Efren can collab and make Shaw Strength brand weights that are inspired by the globes and more vintage weights from the past. It'd be nice to see weights like that used in the Strongest Man On Earth competition too.
😮...It's like the Holy grail of Weights 💪🏋️♂️💪 incredible
coolest little gym i have ever seen. glad this person retains the history with everything too. that pamphlet he made of the weights looks incredible.
What a collection. Unreal
I've never been in a conversation about old weights. The enthusiasm from both of y'all I enjoyed completely. Outstanding show, I really did enjoy it. Y'all should make another video together.
Damn caught the upload as it came out 🔥
I LOVE this guys passion and knowledge of his collection! Great stuff right here!
I'm seeing weights in this that I've seen in 1950's films and older. If you had these weights back then you'd be the only swole dude in town.
back then nobody had home gyms, most towns didnt even have a gym
one thing i like about all this is the amount of respect and care Brian is giving and showing to the Man and his weights. like barely touching and and just embracing everything
Wow, that is an awesome collection
Thank you
This was great! I could have watched another hour or two of Brian going through Efren's collection. What a cool guys. Love seeing the passion and dedication.
Brian...you already have 3 gyms. You can't be buying another. haha
Brian’s gonna tell you to hold his protein shake, he’s a national treasure!
The passion Efren has for the history of these is great. You could really see his eyes light up when he talked about his collar collection. This man needs to charge admission to his garage gym. Thanks for showing this to us and thanks to Efren for allowing you to show us!
Such a cool and passionate collector who loves his hobby! Amazing
There is so much lifting history in that room, omg! I'm speachless, honestly i got ghoosebumps listening to you guys talking about the incredible history of all the weights and equipment in that gym.
Jesus Loves you all very much!! God Bless everyone!!
Awesome video!! I have been in the gym for over 45 years, starting in Cali as a kid, so it is possible I have lifted some of those...LOL
Beautiful collection!! My god the gold bells in their special light case, those blue and gold plates... I love it too! Brian is so dam cool too, like a kid in a baseball card shop! My favorite part of this was when he asked Efren if he has lifted that plate since he has normal human hands... like he's got abilities that Brian doesn't have. That's respect! And honestly I can only imagine that UPS and FedEx are in business today because of all the shipping fees Efren paid to get these beautiful weights!
Yo this guys passion and enthusiasm is contagious. The way his face just lights up as he talks about the history behind each of the weights is 😁
I could watch Brian geek out on vintage weights all day long. The man is seriously passionate about it and Its cool seeing others share the same interest.
Thank you so much, you made my year,
I feel so blessed to have you here! 😳
Awesome! This is a fantastic example of 2 people with mutual enthusiasm and appreciation of the history of strength and weightlifting, and nice to see the genuine mutual respect that both Brian and Efren have for each other's dedication but also for the institution itself that his impressive collection displays. Also the fact that this is not just being displayed, but actually used functionally as well is great!
Probably my favourite ever video from Brian. Would love to see more like this in the future
Damn, this could be PBS episode for the info this guy is spilling.
I love Efrens passion and genuine authenticity for the subject. Amazing.
thanks for doing this video! have been admiring Efren's collection forever
Whether this is your thing or not (personally, not something I would ever get excited about), to see someone get so excited about something they are passionate about is a truly joyful experience. This is exactly THAT! Such a joy to watch as a fan of the big guy!!
