It's called Campero because it is the classical shape of the knife folks used in the countryside (el campo) when working here in Spain. It is a totally Spanish knife, included its history :)

As a french citizen I am proud of our history and culture when it comes to knives, but I have to admit that I LOVE spanish cutlery brands : Joker, J&V, Muela, Salamandra, Nieto, etc...
They tend to build very good models, durable, no matter if it's about producing folders or fixed blades.
Still found of their MoVa58 steel, a kind of 1.4116 with very good HT bringing it to 58HRC, it reminds me of Buck's 420HC quality when compared to other manufacturers.
But it's also about the design, the quality of the materials involved, the prices.

Very cool. No experience with Joker Knives, but a good bit of experience with Bohler steels like N690 and K720, and Sandvik 14C28N has become one of my favorites to be honest. I grew up in south Florida and live in the East Appalachian Temperate Rain Forest. I learned to appreciate a good stainless blade many years ago and with the right heat treat and cryo-quench the 14C28N is an impressive blade steel.

I've just bought the Joker Compero for hunting. Haven't yet used it on a deer but I'm keen to see how it handles field butchering compared to my original Coldsteel Master Hunter in carbon V steel which is what I judge all my other knives against. I'm very pleased with the design and overall finish of the Compero especially considering the overall price of $145 Australian delivered. If Joker offered a Kydex style sheath I would probably have gone with that over the leather purely for practical reasons. Great reviews, keep it up.

All I can say is that I have watched your Joker Lynx and Nomad videos. There was even a bit on the Joker Nessmuck. You made the choice for me to choose Joker. They are a phenomenal knife all around. It is hard to find something wrong with them. I currently own the Nomad. Simply awesome and will be adding the Joker Nessmuck soon. I wanted to carry the Nessmuck as I am from the Adirondacks and would find it honorable to carry a knife so similar to the one carried by George Washington Sears. Again, I can attest to the craftsmanship and the durability of these knives. They are kinda stand alone. I am so glad that you opened the door to the Joker company and that I took your advice. I bought a Joker Canadiense with walnut handle scales a few years back. In short, I love it. The build quality is superb, the steel really holds an edge and is tough, and it came shaving sharp. I did eventually put my own edge on it (just a bit thinner), because I'm so used to it, but it's really just fine the way it comes. And, like you said, the sheath is outstanding. You would pay a lot for the sheath alone to have one made. My only regret is not buy the micarta version, for the added texture/grip. I felt like staying super traditional at the time, lol.

While traveling through Spain in December of 2022 I wanted to get a fixed blade to help with cooking dinners and such, I went to a local hunting shop and found the Joker Arrui 9 for the whopping price of €27 euros at the time was essential the same value as the USD. When I first saw the handle o thought it was plastic b/c of the price. But the owner told me it was olive wood which is a very dence and hard wood, it has a full tang and stainless I was sold immediately. It's sharp but I can't shave with it.. regardless it's been a great tool. I wanted to see what other thought about its quality and I landed on your video. Ruike knives (pronounced 'Rake') makes a nice fixed blade model called the Jager F118. The blade steel is 14C28N with a 4.3" length. At about $63 on Amazon, it is a very nice knife. The handle may be a bit short for large hands, but the contour of the handle and fit & finish is very good. I have used it and it makes a very good camp knife. Seems competitive to the Joker knife.

But these two jokers I got r by far my most favorite knives. The edge sharpness is beyond unreal. I have no high end knife that even gets close to compare. They cut thru wood like a razor thru a pear. I try to grab other knives going out but I always end up just grabbing my jokers.they r true outdoor knives. I normally dont like leather sheaths but there's r soo well made. Buy joker knives cuz you'll have ur best go to knife that surpasses yur supposedly higher end more spendy knives. Best knives I ever used.

I have the BushCrafter, the Ember, the Lynx, and the Ursus is on its way. Almost all other brands in the same league here in Canada are close to twice the price. The quality, fit and finish on these are second to none ( and I have Benchmade, Casstrom, Esee, Tops, Cudeman, Mora, etc. ). The quality of the leather sheaths alone on the BushCrafter and the Ember are fantastic. I was showing the BushCrafter to a local Leathersmith and he was very impressed with the quality, and his estimate to build the sheath was almost as much as I paid for the knife with the sheath. Here in Canada we deal with a lot of humidity and the stainless steels are pretty much a necessity. The Bohler steel is a joy to work with and holds and edge. There is a long history of knife \ sword making in Spain and one of those places is in Albacete dating back to at least the 1600s and its where Joker knives are made today. Spaniards make good knives!

I'm watching this video while I sit here with my brand new Nomad which I am really enjoying. I purchased the Lynx while I was still waiting for the Nomad to arrive, based on your reviews. I'm patiently waiting for it to ship. It was the last black micarta model on Amazon. Now you post this vid and that burlap micarta Campero is really calling to me. Currently only one available on Amazon. I'm trying to resist the temptation because I think the Lynx and my Cudeman MT5 should cover my needs for a 4 inch blade. You are right about Stainless. I really don't understand the obsession with Carbon steel. I would rather have a good stainless that I don't have to worry about and modern stainless is plenty tough. I'm glad I found Joker because there isn't much comparable out there for stainless field knives, especially in the price range these sell for.

Sure very different designs but even your CS SRKs, Strongarms and the like, struggle to compete with Joker bang for buck wise.
Btw; prices are sneaking up here, I expect in part due to logistics issues i.e. supply and demand, on top of "normal" inflationary pressures. My point is; if its within ones means, probably pay to grab what you really need/want sooner rather than later.

4116 is a German stainless steel that other brands have used such cold steel, and thats what they use on the pocket bushman which is really tough. As long as you know how to sharpen that steel won't bother you, doesn't hold an edge the longest but its good and tough (assuming it has a proper heat treat, which im sure it does lol)
