Hey, I know this video is pretty old by now, but I wanted to add that I've found success with using The Threepenny Turtles (masked carnivale instance 5) as a striking dummy for practicing the opener as I've never ran through all the Coils myself. It's got an electric wall, the turtles have a vuln down buff that means you can wail on them all you want, loading in resets all your cooldowns, and they don't hit back.
Sophia EX is also pretty good, just put on Mighty Guard and practice your opener, when you fuck up right at the beginning already you can just jump down and everything resets
I use pretty close to this rotation, but I've found with some tricky moving of the spells, I can fit a Boost spell in. I use: Pre-Whistle, Pull-Tingle, then: Moon Flute > J Kick > Boost > NightBloom > Matra Magic > Spell Shock > Swiftcast > Triple Trident > Feather Dance > Surpranakha x4 > The Rose of Destruction > Feather Rain (on a macro to hit target) > Phantom Flurry.
Don't you mess up your Pre-Whistle by Boosting/Bristling and Matra Magic-ing first? You kinda just throw half your combo from Triple Trident away by doing it in that order since Boost/Bristle overwrites Whistle.
@@Sky-Dweller Incorrect. The pre-pull whistle is for J-Kick. Trident never recieves a whistle bonus, whether with my opener, or Blue Academy's opener. Boosting Matra Magic is the single best spell that can be boosted (except SD/final Sting).
@@elizabethw7698 By that logic, Nightbloom is boosted in your rotation, not Matra Magic. The logic's wrong anyway, Whistle and Bristle both apply solely to Spells. Any primal oGCD is classified as an Ability in-game, and so do not get the effects. Not only that, but the Moon Flute opener showed in the video already Bristles Matra Magic. Effectively, your rotation makes it so that you don't get any effect of Whistle at all, because you overwrite the still active buff.
@@BlueAcademy that's so good, in my messing around with it I was trying to make a rotation where I started PF with 3-5 seconds on moonflute to try to squeeze that last hit in but this is much better
another thing id like to ask , after doing your opener . do u just use the ogcd off cd or just wait them all to come back up and do the same thing again?
This has a slightly longer answer, but in general you'll hit things as they come up. If you're using the SpS/Det set, you'll use Triple Trident whenever it's off cooldown. If you're using Crit/Det, you'll wait for the next Moon Flute window. For both sets, you'll want to fit all your spells into it again, so you'll hold things like Matra Magic, Nightbloom, etc. until they're all up and you can use them under Moon Flute.
Yeah, there was some (incorrect) old math about Feather Rain only being better after a certain about of SpS. As it turns out, as long as both DoT ticks of Feather Rain hit it will always be better than Eruption.
If you absolutely need big threat, you can take White Wind and use that on pull. Otherwise, your normal Primal spells and Sonic Boom should be enough to hold threat.
Is it worth it to moon flute outside of the opener every 2 minutes (other than when you can kill with it before waning nocturne such as with final sting)? 30s after the opener you will have feather rain and rose of destruction up (plus your filler spell). 60s after the opener you will have feather rain, rose of destruction, j kick, shock strike, and night bloom will have just ended so you can bristle + song of torment (plus your filler spell). Or are these not worth getting hit by waning nocturne for? Also what should you do with glass dance when it is up? Since it is a 90s cd and is not affected by spell speed like triple trident is, do you wait until the next opener to use glass dance?
It's worth it to do it every 2 minutes for Nightbloom, Surpanakha, etc. With Glass Dance, you can do it on CD or hold for Moon Flute -- it comes out to the same damage. For Triple Trident, if you're running SpS/Det and have it on a 80s CD, use it on CD. Otherwise, hold it for Moon Flute.
I would say yes. I got all three perfect run achievements this patch. Siegfried is still the hardest in my opinion and it's made way easier just with Nightbloom and Flurry. I was consistently killing him and all three adds in 4:30 mins. The Deltascape spells for ice and fire targeted abilities help too. With 400 iLevel poetic gear you can easily pass DPS checks.
The previous stages are easier since we now have more overall damage. Some of the earlier stages can be cheesed with Ram's Voice and Ultravibration. Overall the most difficult stages (25-31, except 27 which can be cheesed with Hydro Pull) are about the same, we just kill them faster.
@@cheffdonty Cactguard is pretty useless as it's only good mitigation when you are in tank mimicry, but since you are generally the only tank mimicry in the party outside of some fights you can drop it since you can't use it on yourself. Frog legs is again very fight specific, it doesn't work the same as provoke as you don't actually gain aggro from it, it instead just puts you at the top of the list which you can lose again quickly since it didn't draw any aggro. You're better off spamming white wind or some aggro generation moves like "the look". It's useful for some fights where the boss targets the top 2 on the enmity list but generally you just have the "off tank" so to speak take it as a fight specific one off
Also never drop song of torment as dots are very important for a blue mages damage, if you drop that you lose 60 seconds of DoT every 2 minutes which adds up quickly
@@THiiro yeah i was considering dropping feather rain to get song of torment back. I'll probably also need to make room for bristle too. I'll probably follow your recommendations whenever i find myself the only tank mimicking blue mage though
I love the solo capabilities of blu, but I kind of wish so much of our power didn't come from blowing ourselves up to cheese fights. No one seems to do them anymore, even with the release of 5.45. As someone with social anxiety disorder and a fear of in-game harassment (which is stupidly common in every online game), I kind of shy away from doing these raids as they come out or in traditional parties. I would love to see someone figure out a way to solo all of the sigmascape and up to Omega, though. Excellent guide for a DPS load out though! BTW, is there anytime the Doomtrain spell is relevant? @@BlueAcademy You could also shift the J-Kick to after Tingle instead of after Moonflute. Boom over Rose is effectively 105 pot lost so definitely the most efficient drop but if you want consistency with your flute windows, just having JKick never in it could be good for muscle memory.
