- Video guide on what actions are good for a DPS-focused FFXIV blue mage for raids and trials (not for dungeons).
Healer and Tank setups coming as well. Might also do one about Dungeon DPS and how to manage multiple sets.
For reference my GCD (the "recast" time of Sharpened Knife, if you're not sure how to find your GCD) while recording the opener was 2.31.

While I do appreciate that, this is an outdated guide. The opener here should still be pretty decent, but it’s possible a better one exists now (I am on hiatus and have not played level 80 blue mage)
@@Squintina I am just facing Gogo as a 70 BLU so its perfect. Had a basic idea but not considered including Moon Flute on a regular basis. Also there's a lot more than the opener to take away, anyway. Stoked for the tank guide!

Thanks! I actually will have an updated opener in the next few days as I caught a pretty significant error in mine (I did warn that the openers were still being figured out! Though tbh a lot of times blue dps don't even get to do the fully opener because some fights don't allow it or there are advantages to not doing it)

The closed captioning I think I picked a better style in the healer/tank videos. This one looks a bit cluttered, but I'm still playing around with my style before I lock something in for the next expansion.

Glad it helped! Do check out the fixed opener as the opener in this video was improved later on! (though tbh it doesn't matter too much as most of the time you're doing an altered opener because of mechanics/phase changes moving so quickly anyways)

Thank you, this was a big help. You should probably mention that moon flute is great if a big attack is coming, like a primal ultimate; that will stop the party from attacking since you can make Waning Nocturne coincide with the cinematic of any big attack.

@@philipsgrignoli7866 No problem. Do keep in mind that these video guides will never be 100% perfect. First because I am human and make mistakes, and second because things can change for a variety of reasons, including just because some fights require certain things.
For example, I don't have Dragon's Voice in any of my setups, but you can bet I brought it to A12S because it was part of our ad phase strategy! We also used revenge blast as part of A12S strategy so I had to figure out a replacement.
Think of these videos as starting points and make sure to communicate with your static for things to change!
I wish blue mage was a fully functional class. I don't even play it but it seems like something that would be cool to see in random queues.

Do make sure to visit the fixed opener video (though a lot of fights will force you to adapt the opener anyway because of phases being pushed)

hi quick question actually do we not use bristle with matra? I could have sworn it affects the spell? at the start as in ^^ ?
In a full Whistle+Tingle and a few others as well as a potion, it is entirely possible to crit for 60 000 to 70 000 damage with Final Sting. It is pretty insane, because Final Sting baseline at level 70 only hits for 18K roughly. So you can take out solo bosses which usually have around 120K health at level 70 at roughly 60% their health bar in one final sting, this includes B rank NMs at 70, Masked Carnival Bosses and level 50 A rank NMs - You still can't really solo low level S ranks as a Blue Mage though.
Yeah blue mage is quite the powerhouse!
So, what would be a set for dungeons be?

hey squintina is there any change u can do a endwalker's blue mage guide. Maybe add on best way to farm fast solo and with buddy to. Since alot of the guides are so outdated
The actions haven’t changed so my blue mage action guides shouldn’t be outdated, not until the next blue update. Some of my carnival guides are outdated but usable.That being said, I don’t think any of my guides covered solo/duo farming. I’ll consider it but I currently have a backlog of over 15 videos to make so we’ll see.
The next PLL might have more information about a blue update so I’ll have to decide then how to prioritize this.
But anyway, to level fast with a buddy.
1) don’t be in a party. You can be in a Cross World Party or just in no party at all
2) go to an area with level 69 monsters.
The Lochs outside the cave at 23, 7
3) blue mage hits a monster first, can use Flying Sardine, then the friend kills the monster.
If blue mage is having trouble staying alive, can either go to a different lower level area first to level to about 50.
Or, can just ask the friend(s) to be a scholar or Sage, and keep the blue mage shielded.

Is blue mage good for a free trial player at lv 60? ( ARR and Heavensword)
Depends what you are trying to do with blue mage.
Blue mage is good at:
- Blue mage Achievements
- Fate farming
- Instance spam (like mogtome event)
- Getting quick allied seals/poetics via the weeklies
A level 60 blue mage would still be excellent at fate farming, instance spam, and doing the blue mage weeklies.
You also could still have fun and do your own blue mage challenges such as trying to solo certain dungeons/trials, since the new action Basic Instinct doesn't require going to a 61+ zone.
For achievements, blue mage groups do prefer for people to be 70, even while doing level 50 or 60 achievements because of getting the awesome newer actions. However, if you were to explain in a discord that the reason you are 60 is because of the free trial, but still showed that you'd have all the best things for a level 60, they'd probably make an exception just because it's hard to find members they can't be too picky anyway.

Yes, blue mage hasn’t gotten any updates since. This will remain meta until we get the level 80 update.
