I now run a recording studio if anyone is interested at www.soundsanctumstudio.com i specliase in recording/mixing/mastering metal and heavy rock. I also provide remote mixing/mastering services to artists/bands as well. Check out my portfolio there and thanks for watching.
That’s so cool bro. Not the biggest death metal guy but honestly you guys are so talented it’s not even funny. Would love to learn how to do this one day
Thanks for watching. I teach bass guitar online via skype/zoom. If you're interested in learning this style.
what the hell, i just turned the speed to 0,25 and still wasnt able to figure out wich notes this dude playd. But nice fluid technique, respekt.
Much appreciated. Thanks for watching.
@@samchatt how long have you been playing? Because i´m jealous.
Been playing since about 2006. It's just practice, I spent countless hours perfecting that sweeping part. If you put the time in you should be able to nail it.
@@samchatt I will, thank you
That was smooth.
Thanks for watching!
When you want to sound bad the hard way!
(I'm just kidding guys, I love bass)
Wish the bass came through the mix more.
I'm pretty sure you need a pick for a tone that has enough of attack to sift through the heavy guitars and drums.
Sorry about my comment, but that doesn't happen in death metal music I guess? Too much technique often disappears. Perhaps this is why metalcore and even thrash metal do exist.
The main problem is to accept the idea on learning how to listen, makes no sense when technique can't be appreciated anyway.
That's not true, just listen to anything recorded by Steve Digiorgio. The problem here is the mix , not the musical style
who else on there phone and couldn't hear any of this 🤣🤣🤣
Now I got blue balls haha.
The bass is on like 3
Idk I'm on my phone and I hear it really well.
now thats bass
Damn who would have thought that the way to not get that thumb nail sound on the ascending sweep was just to not use your thumb hahaha. I feel stupid now.
Keen for tabs as well, of any other reccomended songs you used to build this up.
Blup blup blup
I love your bass tone, I strive for it lol
Thanks and thanks for watching!
That tone is stupid good
Thanks and thanks for watching!
YES
Very cool.
Thanks for watching.
as an ex bass player i always have to chuckle if i see some of this bass fretboard wizardry and the effort vs yield.
you put up 1000's of hours to learn and maintain this stuff and live (or even in the rehearsal room), albeit it still looks impressive, nobody hears a single thing of all this. it's like training to run faster than Husein Bolt but you only ever do it in some remote part of the woods completely alone without anybody ever witnessing it.
Well, I used to play this song live on tour. The song is also available for you to listen to. So to say no one would hear it isn't correct.
@@samchatt i was referring of course to live and rehearsal. and in those situations nobody is gonna hear this in 99% of the cases. Maybe if you have a pro audio line and a dedicated mix guy that's a total pro with this kind of music/mixing but even then it's rare. Especially if you have a band with 2 guitar players. I don't like it the way it is either but that's just how it is
@@hazardeur It's not that difficult to achieve a bass tone that cuts through the mix in death metal with 2 guitar players. You just need to know what you are doing to get the tone.
I've had a lot of comments from people watching regarding the sweep parts and extra bass fills I add to enhance the songs. I think in modern metal/rock the bass player is expected to do more than just follow the root notes of guitars now. You're entitled to your opinion but If you think there's no point in trying to push the boundaries of being a musician because no one will hear it..that's your problem. I don't have that issue.
you have to be your own and most important witness, if you don't recognize your value, nobody will do
I have to agree. It would sound better if you could actually hear what you are playing, it just sounds muffled in wi the rest of the band. Don't be offended take it as constructive criticism, either play some isolated bass or turn the volume up so you stand out more. The effort you are putting in isn't appreciated enough obviously
So how did you come up with those arppegios
Hi, I followed the root note of the guitar riff to start with. Then I went with a minor third and diminished 5th intervals for the rest of the arpeggio. To try and make it sound evil.

Great!
Cool
Sweep slap!
tabs plz
Dude, this is so badass, i wanna try and learn it, is it in C standard? also, love that there isnt a fret wrap or anything, just pure sweeping.
You have such a bad ass tone! the sweeps sounded amazing, what tuning were you in?
+ChromeGhost0219 Thanks!! I was tuned in drop C.
Sweet!
He proved it. Arpeggios are a bad bass idea
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
This is the only guy who could beat Davie504 in a bass battle
Fuck Davie lmao
There are plenty of guys on UA-cam that could beat him
Eg. check out Nate Navarro, Charles Berthoud and mgrock
Davie504 is nothing but a gatekeeping narcissist. Sure he can slap bass decent, but he’s far from being the greatest in the world like he thinks he is. The dude’s content is the definition of abysmal, he’s literally just a Reddit channel with a bass. if he was funny it would make up for it, but he’s just an egotistical douche lmao
@@FrankRizzo333 he surely doesn't think he is the greatest. In fact he is/was an introverted guy with a lonely childhood who started playing music as a hobby and gained some recognition and confidence through his channel. That "narcissitic" behaviour is for the purposes of the channel, if you look at some of his videos you can clearly tell that he is an anxious and shy guy, especially in the older videos. Don't hate bro ✌🤘
The tone...
as soon as i saw the title i had to click on this lmao
Might sound weird but your bass is very bassy
thats one of the kindest things you could say to a bassist
I can barely hear with the backup track so loud
The bass is louder then the backing track..
Actually do these quite a bit on fretless. It took about a year to get them together..
Get the sound bass more high!!!👊🏿👊🏿😉
Nice!
+Hugo Book Thanks.
I'd really be interested to hear this on its own. Judging from the other comments, I'd guess most viewers are watching on their cell phones, which, having tiny speakers, output a lot more treble than bass, so it's largely downed out, especially by that crash.
I never expected this video to reach this amount of views! I do plan on remaking this video and will play the sweeps by themselves. Watch this space.
Aqui 💚❤🖤
another video bass only, no music?
Wish you could have turned the bass up
It was turned up to 11!
You don’t have the guts to upload an isolated bass track do you
@@mcguirem This video is nearly 6 years old...
I figured if you cared enough to reply on a 6 year old video, you’d have the bass track saved or something 😂, it sounds mondo cool but my ears aren’t too good
Your action must be so low for you to sweep thumb on the fretboard.?!
Amazing sweep btw & tabs pls thznxx!
Bass always under tons of guitars!!!!
On my smartphone, I heard sh*t, tbh.
Looks cool, but I can't hear what you're doing. If you say you're doing sweeping arpeggios, then ok.
My bass guitar is louder than the song I'm playing along with if you compare it to the original track. I'm not saying I've done it, you have just witnessed me play it...
Id like to actually hear the sweeps my dude.
No can do my dude!
haha I didn't hear anything 😂
Can't hear shit 😐
Lol me too
tabs plz
I might have a tab somewhere for the sweeping part or you could learn it from this video ;)
