My favorite LaPorta play from 2023 was the 2pt conversion, where they faked the run, LaPorta blocked then dropped down like he was out of the play, got back up and caught the 2pt conversion uncovered.💪🦁💙
I don’t remember the 2pt conversion with that play where Laporta ‘falls’…? I do remember though that play was used- fake to Montgomery and then TD pass to a wide open Laporta- to get the first Touchdown in Week 18 vs PIS last season. I honestly wasn’t sure at time if the hiccup fall was part of play 😏, or if he actually fell and it was an advantageous moment.
Thank You Coach! Another quality video. As to the chat please pardon my incomplete comment as I was unprepared for the chat format; never done that before. Mostly I wanted to acknowledge and echo your comments on the versatility of Sam LaPorta as truely unique. Having grown up a Lions fan I cannot speak to your basketball comparisons so much as memories of All Pro TE Charlie Sanders & David Hill ...Detroit fans have had few truly talented TE to cheer for in my time and yes LaPorta has the ability to exceed both those players. Also too many TE in the modern game are only one dimensional and drawing comparisons to TE Kellen Winslow who was essentially a large slot receiver in the Air Coryell offense in San Diego. So few players today who line up at TE can block and play receiver as well as LaPorta!
Never expected Sam to be so solid in the blocking game. Dude isn't afraid to throw his body in there to help spring his backs at all. Totally shocked me how good he was at blocking. What a stud Sam is, thanks Brad
I have watched the Lions for almost 50 years. I have never seen the Lions be able to draft like they do now. Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell, and the scouting crew are doing incredible. Three excellent drafts in a row, and possibly a 4th with the latest draft, we will see.
Wow. That is dedication and consistency. Congrats to the Lions for building a team worthy of being mentioned as a championship contender. I know you are enjoying it. Thank you for checking out the video.
@@all_22_films As a Lions fans we always keep a bit of doubt in what will happen. Will the win this year? I don't know. That is something I have never seen the Lions do in my years.
Thanks for the excellent film study. I love LaPorta and expect steady growth in his skill set. He may end up a top 3 TE this year and possibly #1 soon.
Thanks again for another outstanding analysis. As a +50 year Lions fan, LaPorta brings back memories of Charlie Sanders who was also a fantastic receiving TE for Detroit. Although I have to admit that I am not sure that Charlie could block as well as LaPorta. Charlie was active in the seventies and made the HoF. I can see Sam on that same path. And to think I was not initially a fan of the pick.
The Lions 2023 Draft class could go down as one if the best draft classes ever. Gibbs, LaPorta, Branch, and Campbell in the same draft. All 4 of them will end up being Pro-Bowlers, and make an all pro team. Id say at least 2 will make the HoF.
My favorite LaPorta play is in the 49ers championship game! He got whacked hit really hard pops up The Lber stays down & he holds on to the bal smh! Wow
Great illustration of his strength and toughness. I nearly included that play. Had it in the editing program, just never included it. Tough hit over the middle left the Lions about 6 yards short of the 1st down with one down to go, I think. What I do know is that LaPorta popped right up and the ILB needed to be helped up, because he was on bad legs.
@@all_22_films there is a lot of talk around mini camp about his drive to be excellent. Apparently he took off minimal time and started working towards 2024. He has been the forgotten man in the 2023 draft class, but was still second on the team in tackles. With dedication and with the D-line slated to improve under the tutelage of Terrell Williams, Campbell could be in for a big season.
As a lions fan my favorite Te coming out was Darnell Washington with him being 6’7 260 and being a good blocker I felt like he would be great. But I had LaPorta as a guy who I felt would end up being a steal since he was the only bright spot on an atrocious Iowa offense and Iowa has consistently produced great NFL TE’s
Wish I could have given you 10 likes. LaPorta was my favorite Lion before he played. I loved his draft interview. I knew then he was going to be great.
He's quite the kid isn't he? I believe next year he'll be more apt to finish his blocks cuz there are times where he seems like he gives up on them after he thinks the play is done and he doesn't need to block anymore but he'll find he'll need the block just a little bit longer.
A number of Lions fans are complaining about our lack of depth at WR. Frankly, there won’t be enough targets to go around among ARSB, Sam, Jameson, Jahmyr, Montgomery (a very underrated receiver), and Kalif. Not to mention the other depth WRs, TEs, and RBs that will see some playing time. One important thing about Johnson and Campbell is that they use and trust everybody on the offence.
