  • @uncadoug2715

    I’m only 7min on this video and enjoying your take in Jamo.
    They’re coaching this guy up man. They’re spoon feeding this guy for good reasons. If you look closely at the way in which Jamo celebrated his first couple times in the end zone, obviously you seen a guy excited (rightly so)…but it was more than that, this guy was going crazy, running along the wall holding the ball up “look at me look at me” I believe they reeled him in from that. They took that time to teach him this is a team game, that he also needed to learn how to block, and be more precise in his route tree. You can tell this in how he started blocking since those first couple TD’s. They’re bringing this guy up the right way! Jamo’s gonna explode in 24 🙌

    • @jesse8458
      @jesse8458 4 місяці тому +4

      I know you're being positive, but some of this comment is kinda BS. "They took that time to teach him this is a team game"....I'm pretty sure he didn't need NFL coaches to teach him that. He's a team player. He just seemed to get super excited and damn near ADHD when he made plays at first. Seems like he's settled in and calmed down a bit since he started making more plays...but it wasn't like a coach said "hey Jamo, this is a team sport" and he went "oh shit! That makes sense, never thought of it that way before!"
      Also, he was always a good blocker from the start. He was making big blocks before he was making big catches this year. Other than his speed, his ability to block was the one thing that was clear from the beginning. The rest has taken some time but is looking really nice heading into the offseason.

    • @JonAlienAbides
      @JonAlienAbides 4 місяці тому +2

      @@jesse8458I have to agree with you. Jamos strengths have always been his speed and blocking ability. Jamo celebrating his first NFL tds after a long recovery and acclimation process in no way should reflect his character and these types of assumptions are lazy and feed into a false narrative. He is a kid playing a game he loves and it shows. Anyone questioning his character and whether he is a team player should pump the brakes and look at his work as a whole, not 1 single play and celebration ffs.

    • @uncadoug2715
      @uncadoug2715 4 місяці тому +1

      @@jesse8458 look I don’t believe they sat him down, and had those exact words with him. I do believe they seen a need to reel him in, and also had the opportunity to do so, with only so many balls to pass around during a game. The point was they’re bringing him up slowly, which is evident by the amount of action he’s been given. They’ve kept the reigns on him for a reason…I feel next year will be his time to shine…no bullshit

    I think Goff is also working on synchronizing with William's speed, which obviously is faster than everyone else on the team. So basically, he has to throw a different distance specifically for him versus anybody else, especially on deep routes. I expect them to work on it in the off-season, and then obviously in camp. Once these guys are on the same page, it's going to be deadly.

    The progression of Jamo's production is definitely apparent and by design. He appears to have matured somewhat- from a happy go lucky kid to a true NFL pro with above average talent and potential. That is illustrated by his willingness to work a lot with Goff outside of the regular practice sessions so that they have been able to get Goff accustomed to Jamo's speed and Jamo becoming more comfortable with Goff's needs and expectations for routes and landmarks.

    Watching from the end zone angle shows how much anticipation Goff throws with. I don’t think the difficulty of his throws are as noticeable on the broadcasts. A lot of times Goff’s feet are pointing in the opposite direction as the throws on crossing routes and he’s not throwing in the direction of a receiver, he’s throwing at a spot where the receiver is supposed to be. Takes a lot of trust, I can see why it takes receivers a while to earn Goff’s trust. The Lions need their receivers to run precision routes.

    I would like The Lions to add another speedy WR in the offseason. Maybe drafting a player like Xavier Worthy or Roman Wilson. Another WR that runs as fast as Jamo would put a lot of pressure on a defense. Jamo’s gonna be more than a deep threat, he creates a lot of space on his underneath routes and is a threat after the catch. I’m waiting for Goff to hit Jamo in stride on a slant route he takes to the house for 70 yards.

    • @Monte91
      @Monte91 4 місяці тому +1

      Jamo is already more than a deep threat. His ability to catch up to a RB or another WR and block is incredible and he seems to enjoy it too. Goff has hit Jamo in stride multiple times now, slant and deep ball.

    Goffs play is worth analyzing. So many of Detroits plays are about being at a specific spot at the exact right time. Goff knows the timing of every route and which route to pick based on what the defense chooses to do. This is why Jamo struggled at the start of the season. He wasn't at the correct spot at the correct time. Jamo kept working and put in the off the ball blocking and the coaches kept working with his route running. It was really only the last 3-4 games where Jamo finally got it right. Next year... that's going to be awesome. Especially if Jamo and Goff work on the deep ball all offseason. Goff needs to be better at getting the ball deep accounting for Jamos speed. Jamo is faster than Goff ever anticipates and quite often throws short.

    Pertaining to the Coach Johnson video, I thought the usage of Penei Sewell would be a cool segment. Pulling him, running behind him, and moving him around. You can branch off that with Johnson’s usage of Dan Skipper as well. Great work man.

    Jared Goff literally could possibly throw 40+ TD 10 from STB 10 SL 10 from JW and 10 combined DPJ JG and KR and AG however we do have a first place schedule so we cannot have Baltimore games next year at all our second halves all season were lethargic (Seattle,GB,Dal,Rams,Bucs,SF) 3 of those games we lost but we had to work miracles in the bears games and hold on for dear life against Minnesota 2nd game during the 2nd half Ben gets conservative for whatever reason and the offense sputters and we turn the ball over when he does this. I think lions 🦁 Goffense is the new way of playing football see ya 2024!

  • @CJStew06
    @CJStew06 3 місяці тому +1

    I think the problem for him has always been rhythm. Back-to-back seasons of bumpy starts, coming off his ACL and sitting out til week 5 have hampered his ability to gain rhythm w Goff or the timing of Ben Johnson's offense. His worst plays all share a theme, in that he looks surprised by the ball or doesn't track it out of Goff's hand, leading to awkward misses on his part. But toward the end of the year, he started to find his role and fortunately had 3 playoff stages to show that he can compete with the best, which will be huge for his confidence as he prepares for year 3.

The guys got crazy speed and quickness so if you can get the route running and catching ability mastered. He's been used as a decoy a lot, has been pulling short routes too but Jamo needs to do his part and catch the ball, he needs to run the correct route with the exact details Goff and Ben have taught him. He runs routes incorrectly quite a bit. Watch how many routes he doesn't cut soon enough and it looks like Goff underthrew him. Sure some throws were trash but many were not on Goff. He needs to put in the work ethic before taking away targets from the receivers that do put the work in.

    I was calling for Jamo to bust out in the playoffs over the last couple months of the regular season. While he did to a degree against San Francisco, and had some big plays during the playoffs, I was expecting, or hoping for, more. I'm expecting him to have some big games next year, even with all the weapons on this Lions offense. I fully expect him to have, at a minimum, 1000 yards, 10 TDs, and average at least 15 yards per catch. I really like the way the coaching staff brought him along, and while I don't know it for sure, I believe they told him he wasn't gonna get significant playing time unless he improved his blocking on run plays and such. It's obvious from watching him this year that dude put in some serious work to improve wherever he could, which is a great sign from a player with the physical gifts he possesses. As gut wrenching as it was to watch my Lions straight up choke that game away, the future looks blindingly bright for the Lions overall, and Jamo in particular. But then again, the future looked bright in the mid 90s, and that didn't turn out so well. But Goff ain't no Scott Mitchell, so I don't expect a return to the "Same Old Lions" anytime soon, fortunately. Even beyond Goff, this is a very deep and talented Lions roster, and your Ravens are the only team I can think of with a more talented 53 man roster overall.

      They did target him again after he made those plays and he missed an easy 3rd TD that would have changed the entire game. Maybe that ball should have went to LaPorta or St Brown instead of Jamo on that play.

      @lincolnward85 4 місяці тому

      @@Monte91 possibly the ball should've gone someplace else on that specific play , and yes it probably would've swung the game in the Lions favor. For the game though Jamo had been locked in and coming up with plays when called on. He slowed down on the drop and I think that's why he dropped it. Had he kept running it would've been an easy catch instead of the difficult catch up and miss that it was.

      @@lincolnward85 Him giving consistent effort has been questioned multiple times now and exactly why I feel he needs to put the work in before taking targets from the ones that do give it their all. The one that really opened my eyes to it was the first Bears game (iirc). St Brown told him the ball was coming his way (per his podcast) and you can see he gives 100% and gets the TD. Compare that running to other snaps and you can see the difference. Week 15 vs Denver is a good example. 1st with about 5:14 left. Watch his running on that play and watch that Bears TD. Night and day difference when he goes 100% and that can't be rewarded or we're SOL.

      @@Monte91 that's a fair point. I think over the last part of the season his effort was consistent. This was effectively his rookie season for all intents and purposes, and even with that he missed 6 games worth of experience from suspension. So there's bound to be growing pains.

  • @Monte91
    @Monte91 4 місяці тому

    Some people in these comments must not be watching the same Jamo I am. The kid has potential, a lot of it but he needs serious help this off season.
    Ball tracking is downright awful. Missed routes are still messing him and Goff up while "fans" say it's Goff always underthrowing him which isn't true. He leaks up field or misses his cut and then the throw looks like it's short. There is a reason Goff doesn't have these issues with the others. Effort is another thing he needs to consistently bring. Too many plays you can see him not going 100% and for being advertised as maybe the fastest in the NFL defenders sure do keep up with him a lot. There has been multiple plays but the one I remember specifically is that first Chicago game. He was told by St Brown he was getting the ball (TD) and he took off with 100% effort which you can clearly see and then watch say wk 15 at Denver with 5:14 left in the 1st. Watch that play and tell me he's giving even close to 100%. People wonder why the chemistry and timing with Goff has been off and so hard to correct but how can you create good chemistry when a player doesn't give 100% all on most downs.
    Check out wk 12 on that flea flicker play (I believe it's in the 2nd but not sure time) and tell me he didn't clearly miss his route. How about the many times he isn't able to track the ball. Check out wk 14 14:13 of the third or against TB about 7 left in the 2nd. Those are just 2 quick finds but he has way to many of these examples for the snaps he's played.
