Yeah Laporta should have 8+ targets a game. They should use him more in the redzone too instead of trying to run 2 times and have 1 passing play. Amon Ra is fast but it’s got to be a lazer in the perfect spot. LaPorta’s a big target.
@@roblockhart8410 I agree with the Red Zone strat, while LaPorta is freaking amazing between the 20's and on 3rd downs, he is under utilized in the RZ. At least for now though, targets might be a per game basis. The Lions have a lot of offensive weapons with different flavors. Amon-Ra might have some of the best hands combined with great routes. LaPorta is kinda the same in the TE variety, and the fact that he's rookie makes him even more exciting. Then you got Reynolds who can make some incredibly clutch catches. Then Raymond who can burst a huge play at any time. Then you have two RBs ballin out in DMo and Gibbs in different ways... When you add that all up targets can be hard to come by. But to see what LaPorta is doing with all of that, as a rookie, is incredibly exciting. East to forget the Pass Catching Core was a major concern at the beginning of the season.
We run the ball pretty well in the redzone so I'm fine with them sticking with it. If we've been getting stopped yeah Laporta is a big body good for the redzone.
Great to see all the rookies playing such a key role in victories. From Gibbs and Laporta on Offense and Branch and Campbell on D. They all came up huge today. Can’t forget Jamo, who is basically a rookie, as he is dangerous when he gets his hands on the ball! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Lions player with the game changing speed Jamo has…just insane acceleration on that boy! Let’s Go!!!!
Great comment. Jamo was put down by The Ticket 97.1 Detroit sports radio. This dude is a great kid with a great attitude. He kept his head up through all the trash. Go Jamo baby !!!
@dr.paparoni5428 As I always say. There is no difference between a 1-point win or a 50-point win. Let them say as they wish. Fuck them. The W/L columns show 9-3. That's all that matters
Another exciting win on the road! Those Saints were tough at home and trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Lions have so many weapons it's matchup nightmares for defenses. GO LIONS!!
The fact we’ve gone 3-1 in the last 4 games even with our defense playing bottom 3 football ( chargers 38 points, bears game, packers thanksgiving and today) I’ll take that. Defense scares me for the playoff push and playoffs but hopefully we figure it out once CGJ comes back
Ummm Irvin is going to be very handy in our run for the playoffs this was a big time pick up and should have a ripple effect for some of our younger pass rushers and such Dans got our back
Don't listen to him ...he's got high hopes that he can return but the team don't think he will be back this year....maybe if we go deep into the playoffs
A win is a win for sure. But the defense needs to be better. Get off the field on third down and be much stickier in coverage. Happy that Irvin is a menace getting after the QB.
I love the fact that we (Detroit) win by any and all means necessary. We do not come in and blow everyone out, we keep games interesting, nail biting, on the edge of your seat--just a gritty, good football game every time. We play football and grind it out - then we win. Story of my life!! Grew born, raised, grew up in the D. Made my way with grit, determination and the grace of God. And I make my patients watch the Lions when I work Sundays❤❤❤
We were deep in NOLA! You would have thought we were in the D! It was a sea of Hawaiian Blue! We had a ball and we shut that dome down! Let’s go Lions!!
This kid LaPorta is rookie of the yr period .care less about bjorn Robinson and other clubs rookies besides our own lions gibbs and branch.. brad holmes A + again for the 2023 draft..
Writing in June 2024: Notice how the score jumps from 24-7 to 24-21 in the third quarter. As a Lions' fan, the defense needs to improve tremendously for the the 2024 season. We need to shake up opposing quarterbacks relentlessly.
Really enjoying this season...9-3 feels great. Offense has shown they have some major explosive power. The defense is still missing a few key pieces, but AG needs to try something to get better production out of what he has... Can't keep expecting the offense to win it for them with the last possession every time.
Last play of the game Goff is staying calm and extending the play so he can pass to Reynolds and finish off winning the game was Elite Level Quarterback play💯
Great pick ups for the D-Line. Bohanna and Irvin both look like sizeable upgrades compared to anyone not named Alim McNeil. I know injuries are inevitable in football but i would have loved to see this defense with Mosely, Gadner-Johnson, and Houston healthy.
Instead of criticizing everything that is lions fans want to see happening why don't we just enjoy that our boys are having a great season and playing great football. One pride all day everyday
I'm giddy just thinking about this: We have a rookie TE who's already a star. A rookie RB showing starpower, two young receivers killing it, a rookie LB & Safety standing out, 2nd year DE who's a stud, and a young kicker who looks solid. Not to mention a Rookie backup QB that looks super talented based on his College film. Future is looking bright!!
Everyone complaining about the defense but they forget that the Lions went from losing the turnover battle to +2 in a single game. Also, if it weren't for an incredibly lucky tip-drill catch late, the Saints would have put up AT MOST 24 points. It's fielding a consistent, healthy roster that's holding this team back, not Aaron Glenn.
💯say it again for those in the back.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I keep seeing the comments all over social media AG needs to go etc…I get tired of seeing it. The defense is down some players. It’s football. Injury is going to happen. Wish it didn’t, but it does. That changes up the defense.
This is what growth looks like. We have turned the corner, and we now win games by as many points as we would have lost them last year. We haven’t even hit our stride yet.
Some of my fellow Lion's fan live in a fantasy world and think that all wins look like perfectly scripted movies. They don't. They aren't always pretty, but this team is finding ways to adapt to game situations when things don't go as planned. This team was also something like 2-6 this time last year, a there were a lot of close games there too- but they did NOT know how to come back in those games. Teams don't all of sudden show up on the field playing perfectly one day- they learn. This is all headed in the right direction.
Give someone else a shot at defensive coordinator next season. Our defensive personnel did what they could with a questionable game plan but made it work so congrats to them. 9-3 feels good and our offense is getting even more dangerous. Jamo incoming 😎
Im going to put down the blue kool-aid for a moment.. This defense is a major liability going into the playoffs. It's going to take a miracle and a whole lot more turnovers to make a deep run. AG I'm sorry my man but you godda move on. Up by 21 and nearly lost that game even with the 2 turnovers. Love the win, hate how we won.
Our defense has dominated every game but 1 considering the number of injuries. 2 more take always today. Don’t you ever question Aaron Glen again, you’ve never played defense before so zip it.
Our O Line has become very mid. We had one of the best O lines at one point. Same with our Defense. We had the #2-3 Rush defense, now we allow teams to run all over us. Sorry but AG has to go. Glad they won, but we cannot win a playoff game the way we have been playing.
Can somebody tell me what was the problem on Thanksgiving at a home game no less and then then went in here analogy will be accepted because you guys will know more about football than I do
The Packers just came into that game with a much higher level of intensity determined to win. Love talked after the game that they were really looking forward to the game because of the way they lost at Lambeau earlier. It happens all the time in football at every level. Plus you saw what they did against the Chiefs last night so they are a very capable team even younger than the Lions. It's probably going to be the Lions and Packers battling for the division in the next few years.
A wins a win but you almost threw away a 21-0 lead thankfully you didn’t completely fall apart and offense was solid. But our defense really need a change… there’s no if ands or buts
I don’t know if we are anymore… like you said it’s repeated ugly wins… if our offense does well which it did today then we will win but it’ll keep being close and ugly as long as fundamentally our defense is not good against passing and mobile QBs and that will continue to be exploited
Though this is an old video, I firmly believe that when they play teams in 2024 and get the kinds of leads they got in 2023 those teams will not come back like they did in 23 as our defence is going to be more mature with even better additions!
Jaleen Reeves-Maybin had a awesome game today as well. He was everywhere
I said that too. Kinda eclipsed by Laporta and Jamo being explosive but JRM played an amazing game.
I've been watching Lions games since 1977. Sam LaPorta is the best rookie TE I've EVER SEEN. What an absolute stud.
Bettter than Tony G 🤔🤔
@edabber710 very close. Very close
Laporta has already doubled tony gs rookie seasons stats lol he’s got his second year stats right now, with more TDs
I couldn't agree more. Explosive rookie, what a blast to watch.
Agreed... 🤘💪👊
Laporta came through with some huge catches today! Great game!
Whenever it’s 3rd down, I’m always saying, “Just find Laporta.”

Thank you but unfortunately we have a very toxic fan base so someone is gonna comment something to diminish the win
