    By far the best hemi timing and oil pump removal and installation by a real mechanic on you tube. Finally someone who knows. Thank you!

    Again Thankyou! After doing mine ,I used mechanics wire between the washer and the head of the oil pick-up bolt, lubed the treads of oil pump with w-d and went right in. Thanks for saving me 4 hours! JIm

    You can also verify timing after the pump is on by looking at the bottom key-slot. It is still visible and should be around 2 O'Clock.

    Nice trick with rotating the oil pump so that you gain better access to the pickup tube. Everyone tries to pull the tube off first and its a real challenge. If you use mechanical wire on the bolt you can get quicker use out of an adjustable speed wrench to both remove and reinstall.
    Not to mention taking the oil pan off a Ram with 4 wheel drive to get access requires significantly more time, and requires a new integrated oil pan gasket. Big waste of time and $$. Thanks for the help.

      Weirdly I didn't have to do this I was able to drop the front oil pan and the pick up tube just stayed in place firmly after removing oil pump, wonder if there's something holding it that maybe isn't for some

    PLS HELP So I have a problem, the camshaft that should be at 12 I can't even get it to turn. I place it on the lil notch and it doesn't turn at all I haven't tried to force it but it won't turn any reason why or what I should check for or do?

    With the cam mark at 12 and crank mark at 6,
    How does that verify that you’re on compression stroke and not exhaust?

    • @reddevilxt716
      @reddevilxt716 2 роки тому +1

      I believe There is a key way mark on the crank that has to be pointed at 2 o’clock that’s tough to see.

      Because of the alignment of the camshaft at 12 oclock.

    Question to anyone that has done this before. Right before he ended the video he said you can hand crank it with a ratchet slowly. If you do that, and have no issues do you have to have your markings back at 12 o'clock, and 6o'clock before putting cover on and starting engine once complete. Thanks for any help!

    • @marks8368
      @marks8368 Рік тому

      No, once everything is aligned correctly, the valves and pistons are properly timed mechanically. At that point it is the same as when you originally took the timing chain cover off. Handing cranking just ensures that everything is moving smoothly, and there also is no problem with the lift rods not being properly seated. Do it with the spark plugs out and there should be a nice smooth uniform movement. Any odd resistance means you need to recheck things.

    I saw that with the tensioner bolt, that first bolt never clicked and it kept turning and you stopped, you know it's on the verge of breaking,😂 you went from 22 ft lbs, to 16 ft lbs then to 12

      Be sure your tourqe wrench you're using to do those is a quarter inch drive one, otherwise you won't feel the click and you'll keep going until they snap

    • @carolinatracer

      there is a hole in the sprocket you can fit a screwdriver into and jam it against the block. use a phillips the same size of the hole.

      manual is wrong and has been corrected in later manuals. put the double at the top and your marks will fit perfectly top and bottom. This gave me such a headache. watch your torque values. if the bolt is small and the torque value high recheck it.
