Great job of breaking all the settings down with a prior explanation of WHY and WHAT you're wanting to achieve, and not just throwing in random settings without stating why you did it! Keep these type of videos up.
Every now and then the stars align and you find the exact thing you were looking for. Concise and informative, helped make Niagara seem a little less daunting. Can't wait to dive into your other tutorials. Also, thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.
Note: At 4:47 the SolveForces and Velocity is now the SECOND choice from the top in 4.27.2 so if you're just following along visually and not reading, you'll be clicking the wrong option.
Dude, I just switched to UE after working with custom engine (and its custom particle system) for years. It is like I'm in a candy land with all the possibilities :D I just love your series. For someone who is quite familiar how particle systems and game engines work in general, this is very well paced and understandable. This series is soo good, I could kiss you :D
Really helpful. Easy, well explained. Good breakdown and great organization. For real, I always get stresed with these tutorials for not beeing as well explained. Ty very much. Ill spread the word to my colleagues.
nice tutorial. i made my own dust particles using this and they look great. just got one question: how do you add them to the scene? i tried dragging it in but that did nothing.
Using UE4, I'm doing this and followed the instructions but the particles are just blinking in and out of existence very fast since the beginning, I created a new file and didn't change anything except for the instructions provided, later I tried changing the Lifetime setting from the default(1.0) but didn't work either way. Thank you so much for all your tutorials, I'm learning a lot from you.
I created the "Solve forces and velocity" but still can't move the "Add Velocity" to the "Particle Update". I did that in UE5. Could this be the reason?
Thank you for this ! It was a good tutorial. Now I have a problem, the particles are not showing after rendering, I can see it in the viewport but not in the final image sequences. I used U5
Hey question: So I want my dust to only be visible in direct lighting, and have it inherit lighting color. Do you have a tutorial for that or know how to?
On the top of my head I'm not sure about hiding or killing particles if in shadow, but with blueprints and user parameters you can pass on the color of a light to your particles, and you can also pass on location data. The "if in shadow" should be possible, I just don't know how off the top of my head.
Go to window > preview scene settings or make sure that it's on. In the preview scene settings window de-select "show environment" and then under environment set the color to black.
In theory the second one should give more variety to the chance of the max size. Try it with both spawn burst and spawn burst instantaneous with particle size.
Seems that no matter what I do, I can't see anything, not even the dust or a single material when I work in niagara. I just keep seeing the environment, nothing changes. Isn't just your tutorial, this is every time I use it. So frustrating and makes me just not want to learn it. Any fix for this?
This seems odd. Id say try a solid material to test first. Maybe your shaders aren't compiling. It could be your hardware. It might your install of the engine. I'm sorry I can't help you. Ive just never ran into this.
@@gamedevoutpost9270 Thanks for the reply. How would I set a solid material. (also, when I click boundary, not even that shows...) My hardware is fine so it is not that.

Never really messed around with Niagra and now im hooked!

thank you for the great tutorial dude. Keep them coming.
Thank you really nice effect well explained
thank u so much
its a really cool fx
Thank you for the video it help me a lot for my school project !
@5:41 you move the "ADD Velocity" to the +Particle Update, however I get an error, it won't let me drag it there.
4.27?
@@gamedevoutpost9270 crap. Yeah, forgot I did that LOL.
Yeah they changed it, you have to have an until velocity and then in update you can add velocity
@@gamedevoutpost9270 adding "Jitter position" in particle update can also be an alternative if im not wrong
Very informative. Thank you.
Super helpful, straight to the point. instant sub!
this is an amazing step by step tutorial ❤❤
Thank you so much 😊 I learned a lot from your videos that I can use in my game in the future 😁
Thank you! Subscribed 🙌
nice tutorial. i made my own dust particles using this and they look great. just got one question:
how do you add them to the scene? i tried dragging it in but that did nothing.
You need to create a Niagara System from the Niagara Emitter.
Thank you so much for such a clean and easy tutorial to get through!
Very nice. For fireflies, it would be interesting to use a Light Renderer, too.
What a great tut!
So nice tutorial, how to create crowd of audience lights in live concert?
Thank you! Great explanation and walkthrough! Glad that I've found your channel. #UnrealEngine
This was very helpful, thank you!
ohh my god.., thank you so much for this video.., it works more than perfect.., instant sub by me...
Cool Tutorial, What version of Unreal engine you are using plz
But how can i add it into my scene ? i tried dragging and dropping it into my scene but it isn't allowing me
Nvm just watched it from your Intro to Niagara Video Tysm :D
Thank you, it help me

I created a new NE and it's working now, what the hell...

In ue5 you need to have an initial velocity in particle spawn for add velocity to work
@@gamedevoutpost9270 Sorry for stupid question but what need I to do to set an initial velocity in particle spawn?
Thank you very much for this amazing tutorial! really helpful and well explained.
great video 😄 thanks
Thank you so much man -
Yay the Add Velocity finally moved to where it is now and I don’t have to try to fix everything lol
Thankyou so much
Magic!
Thanks a lot!

Same issue here! Have you figured out how to make it show when rendering?
I never knew how to solve the problem, it solved itself, the truth was very strange. Sorry!
how do I get these to spawn everywhere, like be unbound to a box?
How to I implement it in my scene?

How do I make my preview appear with a black background like yours here?

nice one. I am new to unreal engine. How can I use this in project?
Check out our Introduction to Niagara video.
What is the difference between setting [Min=1, Max=7] and [Min=1, Max=randomized 2 to 7] ?
In theory the second one should give more variety to the chance of the max size. Try it with both spawn burst and spawn burst instantaneous with particle size.
@@gamedevoutpost9270 Oh, I see. Do we have something like "Normalized Range Probability Curve" here?
Anyone willing to share a project file???

Nevermind. I'm a dumbass. Forgot to set spawn rate. Had it at 0 the whole time. Might explain why it wasn't working >.
and what can i do with that now? lol
拖进不了自己的场景啊。。。
Never understood "tutorial" videos that never show the fucking result. Show the particles in game ffs. Let us actually SEE
