    Hey everyone! In this tutorial we'll be looking at a few settings we can use in the Sky Atmosphere to totally change the look of a scene. We then take a look at how to correctly use the Exponential Heightfog in conjunction with the Sky Atmosphere.
    This Applies to both UE4 and UE5.

    Would really love it if you did a tutorial on lighting interiors in Unreal for film use. So not necessarily needing baked light or real-time lighting. I'm guessing you would just use ray-traced lighting right? Also, a general how to on setting up an Unreal project for a film would be great. I know your how to make your film look cinematic does touch on that a bit. Anyways really love what you're doing here! Your tutorials have been so well made and succinct😁

    The exponential fog how-to-use at the end is awesome! I got a question regarding the expo. volumetric fog (god rays) - I'm using a point light and can set the length of the god rays with the attenuation radius (your other tut on how to cheat this with two lights is so good!) Is there a way to "feather" the edge of that point light sphere? It's cutting out very hard right now. Thanks William 🙏

    Love your videos as always, William. I really enjoy playing with the SkyAtmosphere because its effects really affect the mood of the environment as you showed.
    One very important thing that everyone should note is when using exponential height fog, make sure it sits on the landscape or mesh that is acting as the ground for your scene. The height settings will not work properly if you place the actor too high (very foggy) or too low (too little fog). Its good to keep this in mind when adjusting terrain location or you'll wonder why its too foggy or not working.
    Keep up the great work William.

    • @GBTC2011
      @GBTC2011 2 роки тому

      No matter what I do, I have no fog. I set it up in the project settings, but when I put a Height Fog in the level, nothing happens. I'm using version 4.26.2.

    • @bruce21st
      @bruce21st 2 роки тому

      @@GBTC2011 I would check your Engine Scalability settings. Fog needs shadows to be no lower than High for it to work. If you're using solutions like Ultra Dynamic Sky or Hemisphere Skies, you'll need to make sure it or other plugins are not overriding these actors in some way. Otherwise you'll need to play with those settings. If you still have a problem, try to make it work on an empty test level before returning to your project to narrow down the cause of the misfunction.

    • @GBTC2011
      @GBTC2011 2 роки тому

      @@bruce21st Thanks for your reply, I am using Ultra Dynamic Sky and it may be why I have issues. I will follow your advice and try a blank project.

    • @bruce21st
      @bruce21st 2 роки тому

      @@GBTC2011 I think I understand what your situation is. Float Curves in UDS are very tricky to work with because it encompasses a variety of settings, so I can understand why you want to use your own height fog. This makes the solution simple hopefully. In the UDS actor in your project, scroll down to a section called Component Selection & Mobility > then where it says Height Fog, select "Disable Completely" from the dropdown. You should be able to use your own separate height fog actor now.
