  • Which watch has the best lume. #Seiko #Doxa #Marathon #CWC #Panerai #Squale #Oris #Stow #Laco #Aquis #Nomos #ChristopherWard
Lume is a short term for the luminous phosphorescent glowing solution applied on watch dials. There are some people who "relume" watches, or replace faded lume. Formerly, lume consisted mostly of radium; however, radium is radioactive and has been mostly replaced on new watches by less bright, but less toxic compounds.

I would say the winner was a surprise, but I'd be 100% lying! That Zenith looks very interesting, lume aside 😉

I have four watches right now, and don't find any of them to have particularly effective/long-lasting lumes. Sort of disappointing. (Panzera 40 aquamarine, Oris big crown pointer date, Mido ocean star tribute, and G Shock)

The initial brightness of lume is not really what should be measured. Lume is meant to be viewed with dark-adapted eyes (except for divers, which only need to function for 60 minutes). The real question is which can still easily be read in the dark with dark-adapted eyes.

You can’t beat tritium. Watches like Ball and Marathon are easily the best. The camera is dark adapted and what you see in the video is very close to what you would see in the middle of the night 😊😊😊😊
