Panerai is doing very well as a company and their sins have been long forgotten. They revamped their product line and offer sizes from 38 to 47mm, different dials options, nobles metals and virtually endless straps of various colors and materials. For my wife's birthday, I took her to the Rolex boutique, the Omega boutique and the Panerai boutique and told her to pick a watch that would make her happy. After trying on three different watches she said the choice was easy: she chose a Panerai 1248 Due, 38mm, sun-brushed sandwich dial with an Arancia Rossa alligator strap. When I asked why she selected a Panerai - she replied "it's a work of art".
I like Rolex. It’s actually the brand most of my watches are from. And while I think when I only could have one watch, I would probably choose a Rolex, like a black Submariner Date, I actually have a deep affection for Panerai and just bought another one yesterday.

Great video, a few weeks ago I did the same thing, but with the 914. I liked Panerai years ago, fell out of love with them, and I'm so thrilled to have one in my collection again. The design is just so iconic, nobody mistakes and for anything else.
Congratulations! I found out about this channel because of the role with the fake Panera, and I'm very happy for you that you bought this watch, they look very cool, and most importantly they are really unique and keep their identity. All in all this is my dream watch, congratulations again!
YES! I've literally been thinking all of these exact things. And eight days is just respect. I mean come on, that's incredible. Happy birthday and looks spectacular on you; enjoy for many more!
I just picked up the 40mm PAM00244 GMT. it’s amazing how it fits. I had been turned off for the longest time to the 44 and 47mm options even on a 7” wrist. This one is just perfect.
I couldn’t agree more with you. That was all fault of the Panerai’s new CEO. Richemont is pretty satisfied because they are doing great in Asia. So they increased sales and lowered quality. The former CEO, who was a Italian committed to Panerai’s tradition, wouldn’t allow such horrific decisions.
Very timely video as I'm considering my first Panerai after loving the look for years. Iconic for sure and I love the fact they've never really changed. I too may go the AD route just because of the fake debacle. Enjoy and Happy Birthday!
I bought my first panerai 20 years ago, and I still love this brand. Recent year I just purchase pam1088, pam1226, and pam1548. All these models can bring smile on my face 😊
Max, another great video. Love this! Panerai was what got me into this crazy hobby. So, I was back and forth between 914 and 915. I also felt the same about the small seconds. However I really really wanted the 3,6,9,12. I chose the 914/15 series because of the design language and the fact that it was a true Luminor (in my opinion). Sandwich dial was a must, depth rating, and price was on point (I received a nice discount from the AD). So when this series was launched I bought into it immediately and it’s a keeper.
As someone with large wrists that loves dive watches, I’ve grown pretty fond of Panerai. It took a while to appreciate just how different they are from every other watch(aesthetically), but as I’ve grown in hobby I appreciate that more! I definitely need to own one in the future and I love the idea of a no-date, sandwich dial, small seconds, manual wind version.
Had this exact watch twice and regret both times trading it in. Wears beautifully and the winding of the crown is superb! I have a 6.5” wrist and even though it looked too “big” it didn’t feel that way and wore very comfortably. Congrats and looks great on you!
@@ganbatte1260 So, I'm talking about the PAM00915 which retails for $7,100 on Panerai's website new now. I wonder if you have a different model maybe. Congrats on the purchase though very cool!
Got myself a PAM210 september 22, awesome watch, tons of fun. It wants to change straps, it wants to play with the light, and its not afraid to be seen on the wrist. Best purchase of last year at a great price!
I thought the same, Panerai will always have a special place in my heart as it was my first Luxury watch Brand that I purchased back then when I first started working. I got the PAM 441 Ceramica in 2017. Enjoyed wearing it much till 2021 and I decided to sell it to fund another brand. Sold it online but then there's this emptiness that keeps on bugging me after that. This year I got myself another Panerai and its a PAM 292. Its bigger in size but wears smaller. Eventhough its an old model but the looks of it is just beautiful. I felt complete again. Exciting to own a Panerai is.
I too have become a Paneristi with a purchase of a 40mm Luminor PAM1048. It looks great on my 175mm wrist and I couldn't be happy with it. I purchased a deployant clasp for it and now i don't damage the leather strap every time i put on or take off the watch. I'm good with the ageing look, but not the gouge across the strap a pin-buckle clasp makes. Great vid. Keep at it!
I’m relieved Panerai has reverted back to in house movements!! I have a just discontinued GMT 3 day Pam 0321 with display back. I love it and I may look at getting a DUE, knowing it’s movement is in house, and not one of its parent company other brands.
nice video. i have a soft spot for panerai too. going to pick up the 914 at some point. every company has misses along the way, but i like how they are not afraid to try different things. like the 2662.
Probably one of the best researched program I've seen. Nails the copy and fake Panerai's on the market, it's a huge risk. Only topic not covered is Panerai's lack of comfort on the wrist. Try a Breitling bracket and then compare. A little pricey for today's market. 8 day power reserve with high maintenance and issues. Not as durable with longer power reserves. Pros and cons - is it worth it.

Congrats on the watch. I've been an on and off fan of panerai, and have owned the 111, 351 and 1033 across the years. For my next Pam purchase, I'm torn between the 915 and the 1312.
I like their design language. And I love that they have their own look that is distinctly different from other brands. But really I'd like all their watches to be downscaled about 10% in size.
Well they're out of my dog house! I am currently looking to add a 12th PAM to my collection this week. There are a couple for sale right now, but I see the others sticking around. I've become quite adept at sourcing them from reputable sellers at extremely favorable prices, my average coming in at under $5K USD/piece (if we take the EoT out of the mix, otherwise a little over $5K). I feel the value proposition is there, though perhaps not at RRP. As similar as they all are, they are all so unique. I've tried to cover as much of the design variety as possible. 44mm-47mm, hand wind and auto, Radiomir and Luminor, wire lug and fixed lug, simple 2 hander and complications up to EoT, range of dial colors, OG to 2021 releases. I would never have thought a handful of years ago that I would own a literal watch box full of Panerai, but here we are! And now for a Nickelback story... In my consulting days, I used to travel around all over the province of Alberta (Canada). One day I was out visiting some folks in a very rural area. Pleasant little house on a working farm. I was talking with the gentleman about this and that while we were sitting working at the kitchen table. He mentioned that he was off to the Grammy's the following week. I continued working for several more seconds while trying to work out just why it is that a real salt of the earth fellow working in agriculture would be heading to NYC for the biggest night in music. Turns out he was married to Chad & Mike Kroeger's mother. We went on to have a great chat about the band and the music industry. And yes, I've always liked their music. ;)
IMO, you have to know what you’re looking for and try them on in person or at least have tried the one you want on before buying. For me back in 2016, I wanted two distinct and different PAMs. The Radiomir 662 which harkens back to the old Rolex collaboration of the he 6154. Love the plexi crystal and it’s pretty easy to keep it scratch free even with it being a bigger 47mm. For the second one I chose the Luminor 1351 because Panerai thinned out the case with the newer in house movement and updated the overall look. The 662 has a power reserve of 3 days and the 1351 has less of a power reserve but it doesn’t matter to me. With Panerai, you know what you’re chasing there. History, style and functionality. Both watches have exhibition case backs
Subscribed! Great video! I personally love Panerai. Have a 210 Radiomir and would love a 690 1940. The look, the history and the decision not to run with the pack and buy a Rolex Sub. That all appeals to me personally.
I love my 44mm Panerai. Having owned a Rolex Sub (which people automatically assumed was a fake because most of them out in the wild are!) and an Omega (great watch) I can honestly say that the Panerai is my favourite. It it is very well made and gets more comments than any other watch I have owned.
Very interesting and a good looking watch. Since you liked this model and its layout, I think you will also like the new Longines Majetek. I'm looking forward to see your feedback on that.
Big fan of your channel. Love the selections and the approach. Agree on the Panerai. It's attractive in some ways, but has been off putting in lots of ways too.
They do seem to be making a comeback. Not sure if they’re fully out of the doghouse at this point, but for the first time in about a decade, I’d consider buying a Panerai. I wish they’d offer sandwich dials on all their Luminor models - many of us view that as a core element of that watch’s design.
Watch enthusiast since the late 90s… I recently purchased my first Panerai a few months ago; a pre- owned PAM 390 special edition. I’ve owned various watches in the past decade but always been attracted to Panerai. The only watches I still have are my Sub 14060 and a 800T Doxa. As much as I like these two watches, I still had an itch for a Panerai. I had read a lot about the history of the brand and even listened to the 5 hours of podcasts by Jose Pereztroika on the history of Panerai (do take the time to check that out it’s priceless info) so I was well aware of the nebulous past and present of Panerai. Regardless I had my mind set on a base model with a solid caseback and one powered by a simple easy to service Unitas 6497 hand wind movement…Problem is that Panerai no longer made watches with the Unitas. Luckily enough, I visited a pre-owned shop that I knew had a few pre-owned Panerai watches and as soon as I saw the PAM 390 I knew that was the watch that ticked all boxes and even a few more that I didn’t know existed like the gold hands, tobacco dial and vintage style lume. I’m super happy and love that I can play around with various straps. Life is short so better do/buy what you like regardless of others.
I find it strange for watch enthusiasts to find heritage important but then complain about Panerai's size. The large size IS part of Panerai's heritage. They were meant to be visible under foggy water. This goes for all the tool watches that were made big for functional purposes. Saying a Panerai is too big is like saying a sledge hammer is too heavy. Anyways, nice Pam you have there. Thanks for sharing..
Panerai watches are my absolute fav watches. The platinum perpetual with green dial is my grail watch… at least it was until i realised it was only 5atm, i don’t buy under 10atm since i swim daily and don’t like taking my watch off, i prefer over 15atm bc then it covers diving from the side as well. So my new grail is a VC overseas.
Congrats on your purchase. Every night, when i go to sleep and watch the light from my pam1312, i feel like i made the right choice. They are unique and italian.
Congratulations! That is a nice watch indeed with the 8 day feature. I only knew that feature from mantel clocks with French made movements (19th century). I’ve been thinking about one and looked at lots of information. With the older references it’s difficult to really tick all boxes, ie condition plus all paperwork and boxes - plus ideally service receipt.
Love Panerai for the design. Did buy the 914 as I wanted 300m and Sandwich dial. But the faultina did not work for me. Sold it but will get one back. Maybe just the base logo. Well there comes the issue with pressed in caseback and just 100m. Might get it still as I sort of dig the look and a 111 is not to easy to get. Cheers
if the due came in a base model like the 44mm does i would consider saving for one. i also think that panerai might do well with some new color choices.
It looks so beautiful on your wrist, really surprised cause of the size but what a beauty. I'm at 6.3 inches and my collection is pretty humble with watches around 1K and less, and maxium 1.5 or 2K if something blows my mind... but man that one looks so good, gz! PD: Guess will not be a summer watch with short sleeves :P
I daily a 389 and couldnt be happier. Although with a strap collection i might as well have bought another watch :D. My next 2 will be a bianco and a carbotech. Big fan of those. Im luicky that i can wear 47mm too, i believe those will be the cheaper offerings in the next few years.
Thanks for the well made video! What do you think about the PAM00422 which is a sort of chunkier version of the PAM00915 with a 1950 case and only 3 days power reserve? cheers, Giovanni
Panerai is like the music of Sting, who's a hero. I mean the watches that they make, I don't really like, but the fact that they're making them, I respect that.
Some helpful Italian pointers: the "C" in Italian is hard (like in "card) when it precedes an A, U, or an O; it's soft (like the "Ch" in "Choice") when it precedes an I, or an E. So, "Officine" is pronounced like "Offi-Chinay" :)
OMG, the Nickelback comparison. Soooo true!! Btw, I still love my old PAM237 and recently started dailying it again, regardless of the brand image of late.
I really wanted one of these like ten years ago. Unfortunately (fortunately) I passed since the 44mm+ case size was just ridiculously huge on my dainty wrist. Though I do STILL love that ''Sandwich Dial"! And they even have in house movements these days, though I don't think those ones cost under $4k like the 'ETA' based models from a decade ago.
I've had a PAM 111 for about 15 years. Love it. Wear it as much as my Rolex GMT. There's just something fun about Panerai. I think all the hate is a bit over the top.
Just bought the pam914 a couple weeks ago. Agree with the style but for me I think a two hander Panerai looks badass. Couldn’t agree more with your sentiments. I started out the same way with Panerai but I think it’s become too common to write them off and almost become a meme. Buying Panerai is like rediscovering them, almost like counter culture in the watch community
I do love the history of Panerai, but I ended up buying a Giuliano Mazzuoli when I was in Florence, and I think there may only be room for one chunky Italian (or Italian associated watch as is the case of Panerai) in my case. The smaller mm Quaranta in white is classy though!
Panerai is trash but it's arguably my favorite brand. The style is just swaggy. It's Italian. It's Unique and Shore to get attention. Panerai is kind of like Maserati to me in that neither can really compare to the true top performers in their genre but you know the name alone engenders passion in those who love them and even passion and those who hate them and love to hate them. I'll take mine at 44 mm please. Cool video! Great job as usual.
Yes, they are out of the dog house. After looking at all these classic designs from the usual brands over the past two years I have started liking the looks of the pillow case Panerai (I was a hater). The Submiserable PAM01055 42mm and PAM02973 (size not listed on Panerai site?) look great. Enjoy your new Panerai it's a close second for me. Now off to play the watchcrunch brackets.
I’ve owned a couple Panerai but I always get bored and end up selling. Because there’s not much difference in their line and because the design is so minimalistic most owners end up getting tired of them and sell.
As a Panerai fan I can only say, wear what you like and don’t worry about what others think or say about your watch or size, your choice to your liking. I wear my 590 and 1316, can’t stop loving them both and still want to add more Pam’s to the watch collection.
@@julienfroidevaux1143 In some kind of aspect all mechanical watches are overpriced fashion time pieces, if honest you need no more than your phone or a cheap quartz to tell you the time, a mechanical watch may have more horological significance, but nowadays a mechanical watch is either a interest piece or a status symbol (Rolex) cause it un logically expensive and some where down the line they need to be serviced. And if you want to fault a watch brand I think you can do so with any brand at some point. That said, I think that Richemont group has devolved in stead of evolved and that’s sad and not the right way to go to keep a good fan base, but that said I still love my Pam’s and can’t see that changing any time soon, it still goes under the radar for everyday wear 😊 Rolex is recognized by everyone, same goes for AP and popular models from Patek, and where I’m from some people will tear your arm of for that recognisability 😢 Same thing that makes me love my Seiko MM300, only watch enthusiasts know it’s not just a nother 500$ Seiko watch.
@@Berg3.0 I wouldn't mind paying to much, not what the likes of Omega Rolex etc charge 2023 . It's ridiculous . I don't think spending a few thousand us $ perhaps up to 5 K is ridiculous . Not cheap but not ridiculous.
ok this is JUST egregious!!!...Normally most of the " watch reviewers" who do Panerai's stay away from anything actually factual about the brand and sing the standard corporate jingle. You Sir on the other hand actually used material from Perezscope and NOT even once talked about his REAL talking points about Panerai - Fake History - Fake Stallone story where he "accidently" discovered Panerai in a boutique in Italy while shooting for a movie! - The apt ineptitude of the company that starts with the CEO liking fake Panerai photos on Instagram. So the real reason that people HATE panerai ( especially people like me who got into watches because of Panerai ) , is even if we can forgive the lies about the fake heritage, its the shitty present corporate run shit show that is the Richemont owned Panerai. In fact, pro-tip- Anyone wanting to buy a Panerai should always get pre-owned because what they uses to make in the 2000's and early 2010's was far superior in terms of quality, water resistance and the sheer brilliance and longevity of their lume.

Got a PAM 210 (2011 serial#) a couple of months ago. Love the simplicity, open caseback and sandwich dial. Forza Panerai!!
Max, very nice looking watch! Yes, the size is a tad large, but it does not look it. The cut out dial looks good. Box and papers!!!
Absolutely 💯
I love my 44mm Panerai. Having owned a Rolex Sub (which people automatically assumed was a fake because most of them out in the wild are!) and an Omega (great watch) I can honestly say that the Panerai is my favourite. It it is very well made and gets more comments than any other watch I have owned.
Very interesting and a good looking watch. Since you liked this model and its layout, I think you will also like the new Longines Majetek. I'm looking forward to see your feedback on that.
Great succinct review of one of my grail watches! You helped me tremendously. I will getting one soon!
Congrats! Gorgeous watch, I love my 580 and 111
Panerai are great watches ,I’ve had a few but the one I have just now is the Pam 1033 it’s a beautiful timepiece, thanks 👍🏴🙏
I`ve the PAM 111, and, see the caseback its awesome. the sanduiche dial, manual, its pure Panerai Juice. Great video
The Nickelback analogy was tremendous.
I love Panerai, every time I see one in the wild it makes me smile. What a great looking watch
Come back story of the decade!
The sausage dials are nice too - if they were all sandwich dials it would be harder to justify to the wife why you need a second Luminor.
@@saillaw2 haha good point.
yes, I agree.. sandwich dial with black hands and white color (green) superluminova, like in 112.
I have a Pam 312. Had it a few years and I still love it. Panerai’s look so cool on wrist. Go anywhere, tough as shit.
Congrats on your purchase. Every night, when i go to sleep and watch the light from my pam1312, i feel like i made the right choice. They are unique and italian.
I think most watch enthusiasts would balk at the lug to lug measurements, but you really pull it off! Nice pick-up and happy birthday!
Can i ask how many times you have to wind the crown to wind it up fully
Thank you
Love Panerai for the design.
38mm Panerai is key.... subtle is the idea.
I have Rolex, Omega, Breitling and 3 Panerai. I love them. I actually gave my squadron Panerais with custom squadron patch dials.
What do you think about the PAM00422 which is a sort of chunkier version of the PAM00915 with a 1950 case and only 3 days power reserve?
cheers,
Giovanni
Panerai is like the music of Sting, who's a hero. I mean the watches that they make, I don't really like, but the fact that they're making them, I respect that.
I love it , the only thing left in this specific model is the 1950 case
Perfect. For you 🤗 I just cant get over the crown guard 🤷🏻
Okay-quoting Arsenio Hall from Coming to America was classic. Well done, Max. Well Done.
Got a PAM562, an 8 days power reserve in a titanium case. Makes it much more comfortable to wear due to its lighter case!
Luminor forever... Solid and stylish. Who could ask for more?
Hell yes!

Some helpful Italian pointers: the "C" in Italian is hard (like in "card) when it precedes an A, U, or an O; it's soft (like the "Ch" in "Choice")
when it precedes an I, or an E. So, "Officine" is pronounced like "Offi-Chinay" :)
OMG, the Nickelback comparison. Soooo true!! Btw, I still love my old PAM237 and recently started dailying it again, regardless of the brand image of late.
Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your new Panerai
I really love the look and vintage aesthetic...I do wish it was 40mm x 12 thick though.... need to try on in person.
The movement looks amazing
They wear really well 👍
Congrats on the Panerai! Another person I follow in the finance world is a Paneristi. Anywhoo, skirts up, kimonos open! Let's see those movements!
If this is wrong I don't want to be right. Classic!
😉
Great vid. Love Panerai. On my list of watches to get. Your right, they are expensive.
Got the 111 in 07 and love it and it’s clear back
I've had a PAM 111 for about 15 years.
Love Panerai. I have two in my collection and they get a lot of wrist time. I'd like to know which strap you have on the watch.
Panerai's history and unique style stands out. Im a fan.
Looks good on you, congrats. I’m toying with the idea of a 42mm Submersible - having made the mistake of putting it on my wrist once 🙂
Great watch review and I dig this version.
I do love the history of Panerai, but I ended up buying a Giuliano Mazzuoli when I was in Florence, and I think there may only be room for one chunky Italian (or Italian associated watch as is the case of Panerai) in my case. The smaller mm Quaranta in white is classy though!
Bought a 915 several months ago, love iit. Pam has been making a small comeback, and their sales are up. Would I buy more, no, this one is all I need.
I appreciate Panerai and their long history as a producer of fine timepieces. I could not pull one of these off. Just too big.
Love the choice. I wear my 111 all the time, it’s just a classic look. Enjoy it bro!!!
I love the designs of Panerai. They’re just too big. But I’m glad they produced some smaller ones….
New subscriber here, can’t believe I haven’t discovered you previously. Big Panerai fan, own a few.👍👍
Haha good stuff Eric 🤙
I’ve owned a couple Panerai but I always get bored and end up selling. Because there’s not much difference in their line and because the design is so minimalistic most owners end up getting tired of them and sell.
Just bought one. The Pam 0312. Love it. And feels good to be out of the Rolex hunt … for a minute.
Great video. Look forward to more Panerai vids
The water resistance on the Luminor is a deal breaker. Seiko 5 sports are 100m and they don't even have a screw down crown.
Panerai as a company just needs to it's JCB treatment
Amazing purchase. I feel it really matches your aesthetic as well!! Great choice and HBD to you!!!!
As a Panerai fan I can only say, wear what you like and don’t worry about what others think or say about your watch or size, your choice to your liking.
I wear my 590 and 1316, can’t stop loving them both and still want to add more Pam’s to the watch collection.
Yes your right ,there are limits to this mind set , like overpriced fashion watches like Mvmt?
Shouldn't this be called out ?
@@julienfroidevaux1143
In some kind of aspect all mechanical watches are overpriced fashion time pieces, if honest you need no more than your phone or a cheap quartz to tell you the time, a mechanical watch may have more horological significance, but nowadays a mechanical watch is either a interest piece or a status symbol (Rolex) cause it un logically expensive and some where down the line they need to be serviced.
And if you want to fault a watch brand I think you can do so with any brand at some point.
That said, I think that Richemont group has devolved in stead of evolved and that’s sad and not the right way to go to keep a good fan base, but that said I still love my Pam’s and can’t see that changing any time soon, it still goes under the radar for everyday wear 😊
Rolex is recognized by everyone, same goes for AP and popular models from Patek, and where I’m from some people will tear your arm of for that recognisability 😢
Same thing that makes me love my Seiko MM300, only watch enthusiasts know it’s not just a nother 500$ Seiko watch.
@@Berg3.0 I wouldn't mind paying to much, not what the likes of Omega Rolex etc charge 2023 .
It's ridiculous .
I don't think spending a few thousand us $ perhaps up to 5 K is ridiculous .
Not cheap but not ridiculous.
@@Berg3.0 I'm not a watchmaker .
Which one is more overpriced , a $300 Mvmt watch or a 10 K +++ Rolex ?
@@Berg3.0 I agree cheap enthusiasts watch's are awesome .
I will never go high end , slowly working my way up to mid tier .
That white dial with Moonphase is the only recent Panerai that I find irresistible.
ok this is JUST egregious!!!...Normally most of the " watch reviewers" who do Panerai's stay away from anything actually factual about the brand and sing the standard corporate jingle. You Sir on the other hand actually used material from Perezscope and NOT even once talked about his REAL talking points about Panerai
- Fake History
- Fake Stallone story where he "accidently" discovered Panerai in a boutique in Italy while shooting for a movie!
This shiiis getting old…. Starting to sound like a broken record
