i don’t think people understand that Rami’s job wasn’t to replace or imitate Mercury, but to honour and respect him. i 100% believe Rami deserves the oscar for best actor because he truly captures the image of Mercury and though they may not look the same, it still brings tears to my eyes.
thank you Rami, for bringing my idol back to life
I agree!
I agree! X2
The way he acts and moves like Fred is just... WOW
To me it was the ather way around, like he imitate him good, like move during concerts and all but he didn’t capture Freddie’s essence, he was just acting and while watching the movie All I saw was someone acting, and you not suppose feel that, this role wasn’t “real” for me
Agreed! This movie made me cry
Up in heaven I can hear Freddie Mercury saying “Well done, darling”
BEGONE *B O T*
He was gay🤷🏼♂️
Windy X ok what about it
@@windyx7350 he wasn't even gay. He was bi.
Also, what's your point
Windy X And what is wrong with that? God loves all of us equally. The Bible never said that liking your own gender was bad.
I don’t want to know how often Rami had to watch the live aid performance, he portrayed almost every pose and movement. Incredible.
1500 apparently.
He hired a Movement coach
He was just, so amazing:,)
Freddie Mercury's soul entered in Rami Malek
he also had a reference in front of him look in the bts stuff
still can’t tell which Brian May I’m looking at
It’s insane how accurate the portrayals are
lol

I felt that
I respect that actor he did a hell of a good job portraying Freddie Mercury
Just give Rami the Oscar now, we don't even need a show for it.
Yes, Rami Malek did a really good job
James Haney ,
He was born to play that role!
I just picked up the Blu-ray it is astonishing
Never realised just how perfect the Live Aid recreation was. I knew it was good but this is the first time I've seen them side by side. Rami's movements were really spot on all the way through
Ikr it’s like so precise
Makes me wonder how many times he watched it to get the movements so accurate
filmcrazy2008 definitely deserved the Oscar
It was actually completely intentional. As it was an event that happened during which viewers will have been alive for they felt it best to basically move for move recreate the whole thing. It's quite amazing and magical to watch.
Everyone of them made such a good job. The look so Perfect and nailed there Charakter!
I'm proud to say that I went to school with Rami back in 1999-2002 and studied abroad a semester with him at harlaxton in England. Funny thing is that he sang Bohemian Rhapsody at a karaoke night while there. He or any of us had no idea at the time the connection to the song he'd have someday! I wish I could go back in time and record that karaoke night. He also did some impressive theater work even then. Proud to see where he's accomplished since then!
That’s really cool!
Does he look like Freddie?
@@iarshintasudjana4382 back then, no. He's lost sone weight since then.

Alecksss I know, sounds too good to be true right? 😀 I'd post some pics on here if I could. Can you get to this link? facebook.com/128228520581912/posts/2593540337384039?sfns=mo now, to the validity of karaoke night, I have no proof. Have to remember in 2000, digital cameras were a rare luxury and none of the students really recorded video of everyday events.
Everyone loves rami malek as Freddie. But we all need to pay attention that Brian May is played by Brian May 😂

Brian May figured out the secret to time travel and the fountain of youth and time traveled back to 2016, renaming himself Gwilym Lee.

Don't forget John Deacon with the red hair 😉
Ya hes look like 100% 😂😂
Can we just talk about how much the actor who plays Brian May actually looks like Brian freaking May!!!!
And so does the actor who plays Roger Taylor!! The casting department did a really good job with this one!
Danielle Adri in one concert right?
They all look like the real band members, except for Freddie!
Danielle Adri which part 🤔
I would have liked them to make a special Golden Globe for best casting for BR.
Everyone is raving a about rami (and rightly so) but Jesus the guy playing Brian May is insane it’s uncanny
Yeah, but you can get any guy that works in a bank, give him a stupid wig and its brian may
ikr??! they’re so similar
Its seriously creepy how much he looks like him!!! I was so shocked when I watched the movie I was convinced that they had clones him!
Eleisha Harvey both were fantastic
FACTS!!!!!!!!
it's so crazy like in the live aid performance Freddy switches the placement of his hands and then Rami does the exact same thing the dedication that must have taken is crazy.

Brian May wrote the guitar solo
@@roverwaters3875 Which one?? I'm pretty sure he wrote ALL the guitar solos in Queen songs.
Wrong, from Wiki Bohemian Rhapsody, A quote from Brian May "The vocal harmonies was something we wanted to do from the beginning, as we are always keen to do that kind of thing. We wanted to be a group that could do the heaviness of hard rock, but also have harmonies swooping around all over the place. We thought there was some real power and emotion in that combination. The guitar solo was pretty much off the cuff, except I think I had plenty of time to think about that one. I remember playing along with it in the studio for a while when other things were being done. I knew what kind of melody I wanted to play.
"

Andy Slye Marc coz he is Singing
If they'd made Rami as sweaty as Freddie during the Live Aid performance it would have been a near-perfect remake, my god.
Well said. He was clean. Maybe some sweat would have made it more realistic
Right? A .99 spray bottle & some water would’ve made a huge difference.
And maybe beefed him Abit. Idk he feels a but twinky compared to mercury
Don't get me wrong, he did an amazing job...but I just don't feel like he has the same presence. The moves are spot on and the voice is close, but he's going through the motions of the choreography instead of really owning it.
Jerod Fortenberry I totally agree... no matter how much training, practice, coaches for movement, time, etc., there is just no question about it. Freddie Mercury was an absolute ORIGINAL. All Rami Malek could do was try and capture the spirit and vibe of Freddie for film. I think he succeeded in his efforts, but we all love & appreciate Freddie so much, it’s just hard to see the side by side comparison of the two performers.
Plot twist: _Brian May went back in time, to be born earlier, so he could play this role._
My boss: You're late again!!

Rami Malek did a really fantastic job, but in all of these clips my eyes just keep getting drawn to Freddie. He was such an incredible performer
Same for me. Freddie was simply magnificent.
There will never be another....makes me sad :(
I think it is supposed to be like that The fact that Freddie was a super charismatic legendary and irreplaceable figure who could hold hundreds of thousands of people watching him from 100+ meter away or even on screens in the palm of his hand is the reason why this movie was made and what was celebrated in it. I would say, considering the shoes Malek had to fill, especially with the performances in the arenas stuff- he did a superb job :) but if he had the same presence as Freddie, he would not be äcting him, he would be on that kind of stages performing :). I don't know anyone in the world who could do that at the moment :).
yeah, ended up watching freddie....forgot the screen up:)

No one talks about John Deacon and Roger Taylor. Deacon is Deacon's doppleganger and Taylor has an immortal body and face.
When Joseph Mazzello was cast as Deacon, having been too young during Queen's final years to really know them, he looked up Deacon online and saw pictures of him. Mazzello immediately called up his mother to ask if she'd been in London 9 months before he was born.
Keith Morrison hahahaha that’s hysterical!

I saw a short doc with Freddie's personal assistant, and he verified how much attention they paid to small details such as what was INSIDE a bag Freddie carried that no one ever saw in the film. They put it in the bag to immerse everyone in the film in authenticity of the world.

I'm not sure the movie will win Best Picture, seeing all the great nominees in the category, but Rami _has_ to win the Oscar. He basically carried this movie on his shoulders, and he's the reason it all worked out. And I really really REALLY hope this whole Bryan Singer situation won't cost him the Academy Award. Rami deserves better than that.

Rami Malek deserves an Oscar for his outstading performance. I watched the movie and it was as if I was seeing Freddie come alive.
come on, a lot of people say it doesn't look the same but Live Aid looked like it. Obviously they can't make it exact and make the actors look identical, but the little details the changing microphone from hand to hand trying to do the same thing as the real Live Aid and everything, like give them credit because this is one of the or the best recreation and I know Freddie would be damn proud.

Duck Li haha lolz u funny.
Duck Li well no duh, of course no one is better than freddie and of course the actor isn't him, but he did a good job specially since he said he didn't knew how to sing, dance or play the piano so he did a great job and won an oscar against really talented people so what does that say? Rami Malek isn't a "Phoney" now is he.
@Duck Li That's why its a biopic. You're just nitpicking about every little detail.
@Duck Li I understand he looks nothing like him but his mannerisms are very similar to Freddie. It's impossible to recreate everything down to a T.
Freddie's voice is iconic and unique, but his legend is his performances. Beyond being a phenomenal vocalist and great songwriter, he was above all a performer, connecting with his audience in a powerful way. Rami nailed his persona. I didn't expect much of the movie, but am happy to say I was proven wrong. Every aspect was a terrific tribute, not only to Freddie but to the entire band.
I remember being a 3 or 4 year old little girl back by the big speaker at my grandma's roller rink in Ventura California dancing to Another One Bites The Dust every time it came on. I loved the song.

I think for all the people down here in the comments making movie critiques saying how bad Rami portrayed Freddie... The directors and casting weren't trying to replace Freddie with someone. They were attempting to pay homage to his memory and legacy as a person and performer. Of course Rami isn't going to be exact and his movements are going to look a little forced. I recall Rami saying he went to a movement coach to learn how to move like Freddie. He learned hence the forced actions he displayed. It came naturally to Freddie, and a large part of trying to portray him was those on stage performances. Those movements were unnatural to Rami and I think even though they were learned behaviours that he did a good job of portraying the legend that is Fred. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Wtf no one is even hating him?
I love you Rami, but it's SO hard to look at you when the real Freddie's on the same screen! But I'm sure Rami wouldn't be surprised. Freddie upstages everybody, all the time. Just can't peel your eyes off him!
Like Rami said himself: "I'd rather be Freddie Mercury for most of the day than be Rami Malek"
funny they both hold my interest equally on screen, and in some ways Rami a bit more. I have a big crush on Rami, I guess. I loved him before he made this movie in Mr. Robot.
@@happyclam1266 Understood! He's pretty damn cute! Seems like a lovely guy too ;)
movie: well balanced show case of all of the band members preforming
the real life broadcast: 0nLy Fr3DdIe
that's why this is a movie and that is a broadcast, m8
The live aid concert is the second concert to give me goosebumps but the first one to make me cry. You can just hear the raw emotion and it makes you feel amazing to be alive. Thanks for uploading!
