Many youths are leaving Slovakia to study and work. Leaving makes sense as the average wage is less than 1000 euros a month. This "brain drain" is worrying for the future of Slovakia. In the past 15 years, over 300, 000 Slovaks have left.

when she says ‘opportunities’ what she actually means is ‘money’
exactly
3y later..not just that but the diversity of what you can do and lack of entertainment
Yeah, the opportunity to make more money and have a better living standard.
or to build, create and add something of value in a post communist country that thinks everything west is evil
and whats wrong about that?
If you live alone on 1000 euros in Slovakia . It's not that bad before you pay taxes
ludia ziju aj mimo bratislavy tho lol :D
Well im leaving the UK for Slovakia. I have awesome skills. Dont worry.
im stayin in uk
Miele Rodriguez ur watch sexual tension videos you should go get help
I am from slovakia slovak language is really hard it is 5 hardest I can teach you and tell me where are you I am living in Trnava
How did u get on?
liar
now it is reversing, more people (slovaks) are moving back to Slovakia from western countries
Why?
@@justsomerandomdudewithshar6994 maybe they lost their jobs because of covid19 crises, so they have to come back home.
Never! Maybe for holiday but even sunny Spain is cheaper than Slovakia so no for me.
from where you got this info ?
Because those who went to the UK in the 2000s most of them are in their early 40s And they have enough money to retire at home or they have enough experience or skills to find a job at home. Just look at the Polish people in the uk there were over 2 millions of Poles, and now fewer than few hundred thousand stayed. All of them went back home to the old country. The salaries are now much higher in Centeal Europe than 20 years ago
you are wrong Vienna has 12% unemployment, Bratislava bellow 2%
Unemployment is very low here in Slovakia, because the old government reclassified some activities to actually count as jobs to make it lower. Also, Bratislava is a city where people go to work, that's also one of the reasons why it is so low there.
That might be true, but your consumption power in Vienna is higher than Bratislava. In Bratislava, you might get a salary of 1000 euros net to (best case) for a normal job in office and your rent for a normal flat (2020 standards) in the city will cost you around 750 (sane price as Vienna by the way). Basically you are fu**ed if you are single, with no family and want to live alone in Bratislava. In Vienna, you might get a normal office job salary (starting from 1400-1500 euros netto) and be able to rent a place in the city for 750 euros as well.
You are beautiful Mojca :-)
Bratislava has less than 500,000 people
Vienna has has 1.9 million people
@@dunno1128 i was renting a flat 25 m2 for 420 eur costs included
I love Slovakia. Greetings from Achacachi, Bolivia.
Very sad, slovakia looks like a beautiful country with great culture
I don’t think that communist era block apartments and ruined castles make a country beautiful, but okay.
@@user-ub9mm4vr5k we will fix it. It's just 30 years after the fall of communism after all.
As a Slovak living in Denmark stay in Slovakia
why
@@bakkecske91 Everything kinda suck here - beer (it taste like piss), weather, culture, language, education is not as great as I thought it would be
@@mockingspongebob773 maybe you are overreacting a bit? i do think northern countries have it better, even though its a different culture...maybe its just your personal preference that makes you think this way ?
@@mockingspongebob773 LOOOL!!! DENMARK!!!!
I left because I want to have an interesting active life and not the boring stale monotony with people who have never been anywhere and have no ambition.
Funny. I live in the western EU, but that rural lifestyle attracts me. Even Bratislava feels like rural place, but at the same time full of business and interesting shops and cafés. Especially how slovaks are actually quite homophobic and conservative about family issues is a good thing.
Can I take your place?
@@Mar-bh7uj yeah when I look at what's going on here in the West I'm not quite sure I'd want to raise children here.
@@MW-vg9dn Dont forget it! Move out from Western Europe before it is too late. Your kids can be killed by radical fascists who hate them because they are not "brown" enough, or are not muslims.
@@Mar-bh7uj "Especially how slovaks are actually quite homophobic... is a good thing" - wow. yes, I agree: you certainly don't belong in the west.
This is not true anymore, Slovak economy needs 100 000 workers, Bratislava is one of the richest regions in Europe, the country itself is economically divided by West and East with extreme regional differences.
Coping is hard for you
I'm planning of visiting Slovakia I would love to be your friend
Time to head to Slovakia
The guy punched the poster? I thought he kicked it
It was a drunk gypsy..!
No, he punched Robert Kaliňak :)
Slovaks leaving dont realize that prices for goods and services are higher therefore lifestyle wont change
gvi341984 Tax are 25% high mate
It will lol
Actually I'm a Slovak living in England and I can tell you it heavily depends on where you go and what job you end up doing abroad. My parents started off on minimum wage jobs so yes we struggled to begin with and lived in a small rented house but my parents worked hard and both moved to better, higher paying jobs that have allowed us to live a way better life than we wouldve in Slovakia
They will change
@@dominikadovicakova1848 Damn right

The country has a lot of natural beauty, but it's far too corrupt and the fear instilled during communism is still there.

Ooh youll regret it, trust me
Wtf man did u lose your mind?
I wouldn't advise it, I spent 10 years living there. During that time I had guns on me, knifed, robbed by the 'legal' system and ex in-laws & wife of all my savings, then had to pay 60percent childmaintenance. The whole place is run on corruption, I can say a lot more of what goes on. If you go, just go for holidays, keep money and assets here.
It's a bad idea

tak ide studovat politologiu :D to je vlastne ekvivalent dokladaca jogurtov v tescu na SVK...
povedala len pravdu🙃
Why is the situation bad?
it is not , Bratislava is very easy to get a job, Slovakia is looking for over 100 000 workers. The problem is cashier makes 500-600 eur in Bratislava, but if you are a waiter or you do qualified work it is another story
Roots of the problem are in the people's minds, demographic changes and huge regional differences. Big part of population believes that EU is hurting Slovakia and populist politians take that for advantage. But there is hope, we have a new government now and some changes are happening. Unfortunatley however is that the change of government happend right at the start of COVID crisis and many people blame the politicians for inadeqate action to help the economy.
Because the education system sucks, public healthcare sucks, there’s so much unnecessary bureaucracy, low wages and close minded people. Also, even though the nature is nice you’ll get bored over time because there’s nothing to see besides the nature. The large cities like Bratislava and Košice don’t have much to offer and are just flooded with communist era block apartment buildings.
@@user-ub9mm4vr5k education system is a scam in each country , maybe beside scandinavia
Slovakia is my second home country.
Hi, can you travel to Slovakia as a black man? I am from Germany and my parents have booked a holiday for them and me, my husband and our children. My husband is black (from West Africa) and our children are brown. My husband doesn't want to go with us because he is afraid of racism in Slovakia. He would have to come alone by train because there is not enough space in my parents' car. I am also afraid now, for our children. Is it safe to go to Slovakia as a person of colour and do you have to expect negative reactions when you go there as a black person?
@@osobaanonimowa Hungarians and Poles hating Slovaks would be more like it
It is a racist culture
@@osobaanonimowa hate is a strong word, 99 percent people do not care, and Slovaks do not hate Polish. There is many black guys in Bratislava, anf generaly, he should enjoy it. People are nice, but they will be looking at him as many Slovaks have not seen a black man before.
Slovakia is one of the safest and least racist countries in the world.

well i am from russian and i desperately want to live in Slovakia
Why are people leaving? there are no jobs
Because even now in this pandemic crisis you can find the job in England for example faster than in Slovakia and if not you can stay on furlough which is 80% of your wages. In Slovakia I don't think so.
LOL hahahhahahaha the news that doesn't age well, and this is one of the news.
