    The great thing about Lincoln Riley and at a larger scale the Mike Leach, Kliff Kingsbury style of spread offense is it’s an extremely simple offense that allows college QB’s to react and not over think. That’s also a negative thing when transitioning into the NFL, they are use to running a complex offense. The play call in the huddle goes from 5 words in college to 20 in the NFL with a lot more checks.

      That was more to Nick Wright and Colin Coward. And all these others that say he's part of the system. You don't claim to be an analyst. They claim to know by the way they talk about Brock.

      @@49ersfttbIt's crazy (and telling) how 9 out of 10 former QBs recognize and appreciate Brock and what he brings to the team. Those that would know see that he's much more than a system QB. Yet, the Cowherds and Wrights out there act like they know more. Care more about clicks and headlines than being right.

    Great conversation here, loved listening! I do believe Caleb Williams could be very good, but I am dumbfounded by the common narrative that he is some infallible, generational talent. I watched every game of his college career, and while 2022 was amazing obviously.... if 2023 didn't give you pause I feel like you had to be watching with your eyes closed. He is incredibly talented, but there is a lot to indicate that his head will get in the way of his talent whether through bad decisions on the field or instability off of it. Trevor Lawrence was simply a better prospect than Williams is, and I don't believe it is particularly close. We see how it is going for Trevor, and while I can certainly see the possible future where Caleb takes the league by storm I find it much more likely he will struggle a lot early (while showing some flashes and big play ability). That said, given Max's connections to USC I understand why he takes the stance he does, but I am very confident in saying CW is NOT a generational talent, but rather a "once every couple of years" talent. Clearly the best prospect in his class, and would be in a majority of classes, so I guess I am splitting hairs.

    JT talks about the 7+ step drop back is sooooooooooo 90s/outdated and odd CMC usage behind the line of scrimmage - can you talk about?

    • @Revellian
      @Revellian 11 днів тому

      I’d love to hear more about this from another scout/QB. I like JT, but I don’t want to take one person’s opinion as truth. Shanahan is a smart guy and he must know what the downside of the McCaffrey usage behind the line of scrimmage and the 7+ step drop. And yet Shanahan still calls it so there must be an advantage, right? I refuse to believe Shanahan is more dense than us football fans that are questioning the deep drops. There has to be a reason.

      @@John-3_16 the CMC stuff is more about breaking the defensive rules and creating mismatches off of it. In those situations CMC is both threat and decoy.....it's like giving him a rest without taking his threat off the field. The seven step stuff is all about timing, allowing a play to develop. Old school 7 step drop is based on the Don Coryell "Air Coryell" offense. Basically deep ball passing game.

    Brock has never been the problem, its Shanahan. If the 49ers had a modern passing game, they would have at least 1 SB from the last 5 years. Fire Kyle!

    • @joelatu
      @joelatu 13 днів тому

      Brock’s doing his thing. But its only year 3 and probably his last cheap year. Kyle is doing a few things right, with room to improve, after taking 2 different QBs to the SB. Im not high on this year being a SB Year because of the Offensive Line. That’s on this teams philosophy (Kyle/John)

      @marcellusfulbright5918 13 днів тому +8

      If your assistant offensive coaches are getting OC/HC jobs wouldn't that mean you're the needle that's moving the modern offense? Also wouldn't having a top 3 passing offense while being #31 in attempts mean your passing offense is elite? My point is the passing offense is fine.....now game management 🤷‍♂️

      @@leroydillhyon8209 Sorry your p-ssy hurts from hearing the truth, maybe buy some Vagisil. Shanafool is just a one-trick pony with a knowledge of playaction passing and running stuck in the 90s, and he doesn't even do it as well as his daddy. Kyle is a good play designer, and can script a good sequence to start the game, but he struggles actuall calling good plays for most key situations, and he is too insecure to accept any fault, which means he will not improve much. Baldinger doubted him as a HC long ago and it turns out was dead ass right.
