Really appreciated these basic videos when I got back into fishing a few years ago. Great stuff.

These Rig videos are superb. Whilst i understood a Running Leger i wasn't sure what benefit an uptider does. I reckon you can almost uptide on a Loch with fast water and wind without a grip lead and using Watch Leads. Worked for me yesterday, 2 Rainbows caught in horrendous weather in the Cleish Hills, Fife. 4 seasons in one day. It was brutal conditions.

Great video. I've only been uptiding once about 5 years ago & had forgotten most of the method. Nice simple rigs, so easy to remember. I'm about to have two days off Minehead & been told it will be a mixture of off the back or uptiding from the boat sides.
Both methods work,and the Bristol Channel is an ideal spot for both techniques.
Great video, I haven't been sea fishing in a long time, gonna have to get back into it and I might try your rig, thanks guys.

Why are the traces always so long? Surely you'd get less tangles and better bite indication with something much shorter in the same way you do with a running rig in fresh water

Simon Hopkins us salt rigs with lots of beads and things that flash as well as a bait clip and the bait has to be sitting on the bottom

Plaice like an oily fish like mackerel or bluey tipped with a strip of squid.
Uptiding sadly is going out of fashion, People dont realise how versatile UpTide Rods are, Great for Piers, Jettys etc Ive caught Tope and Sharks on them over the years when Boat Fishing, I would love to see more People Uptiding.
Come to the Humber estuary, everyone fishes uptide because it catches twice as many fish as down tiding
8 OR 9 oz and long pushbike spokes held every tide Dover could throw at it
