One of my favorites from Nightwish! Slow and heavy with soaring vocals...perfection.
This song is based on "Song of Myself" from "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Whitman. The original was on the Imaginarium album and was the 2nd album released while Anette Olzon was with the band. The original was probably 14 minutes long, as after the singing was all done, there were symphonic metal orchestrations and "narrations".

Queen Floor Jansen , not official front vocalist to the band , then back in 2013 in Wacken concert , nailed all the songs..'' Pirate '' Jukka Nevalainen , the original drummer , darn , kills the drumming parts ! Miss you Jukka!
This is probably my favorite Nightwish song. The combination of Floor and Marco's voices. The combination of double kick and the choir. The breakdown. And not weird you hear Metallica in the second half. Tuomas has always been a huge fan of them.
"Body surfing" are referred to as "Offerings" (to the band) in Europe.

Nice reaction! This was the song that was immediately after GLS. Most of the lyrics for this song where taken from the lengthy poem 'Song of Myself' by the American Poet Laureate, Walt Whitman, circa 1892.
If you would like to see a music video you could try "Noise" from their latest album.
Greatest thing about it is that nobody can shout at you "You should have done the live one!" because there simply has not been a live performance for this one yet ;-)

There's a legend how one Nightwish fan once saw Floor walking casually along a supermarket aisle and her hair was waving and flying without any wind, just like on stage and as Floor passed him he heard a weak divine sound of chimes and fell to his knees. ;)

I personally think this is best Floor era performance. It has everything but growls, so addicting beat, Marko singing and Floor's amazing movements sync'ed to the pyro

One of my favorites....but an extremely dark song, dark lyrics. The extended version is beautiful, with spoken words, poems, by some bandmembers, parents of Tuomas and his wife. RAW!!

When I first saw this show I was tottaly blown away I had never heard night wish before I just couldn't believe what I was hearing that was 3 years ago and when I heard this song I don't think I've heard anything so melodic or so heavy this is my fav performance by this unbelievable band but that not to say I don't like the rest because I absolutely do and another great reaction by you guys when you become world famous and tour round the UK I will be getting a ticket good job guys you are so genuine and always look like your having a good time ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💥💥💥💥

one thing that i've noticed about this performance is that Floor dips really low. i know a tenor that can't hit that note very well. i'm a baritone and she's in my territory

I only watch and listen on Spotify the live registrations of Nightwish. They bring live so much more stagepresence and of course the pyro effects incorporated in the rythm of the songs.

Y'all need to watch The Islander at Tampere. It's a Marco-fronted song and gives you a totally new appreciation of his vocal ability.
@ the wolf hunters , tuomas wrote Song of my self while recovering from his depressive phase over the dark passion play era. The song ist heavily inspired by Walt Whitman’s poem with the same title, Tuomas often often calls Whitman “my hero uncle Walt” like robin Williams in the “dead poets society “. I posted an alternate video to song of my self under the poet and the pendulum reaction, it is the album version wich contains letters and diarys entry from tuomas and his friends while he recovered and read by some of his friends including a then session musician for Nightwish called troy donockly

They can't do it live as the vocals are recorded by family and friends of the band and crew (and Troy before he joined as a full member) It's a beautiful, thought provoking poem over some of the most beautiful music Tuomas has written, and well worth a listen.
