The first Nightwish song I ever heard was this song (Tarja was still in the band). It was in the credits of the movie "Alone in the Dark" and I was like "woah who is this" I stuck around to read the credits and that is how I discovered Nightwish. That is the only thing I can remember about that movie. :)
The only time in history when Uwe Boll actually used something with quality in one of his so-called movies. Nightwish themselves has these days removed all traces of "Alone In The Dark" from the official video that used to have clips from the movie mixed with the band performing.
I've seen that movie several times and never knew that. I never watched the credits and it's been a while since I saw it. Probably several years before I discovered Nightwish. Now I have a reason to go back and watch it again. That movie was always a guilty pleasure for me.

"Wish I Had An Angel" is the eleventh single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, the second from their fifth album Once. The version with Tarja from The End of An Era concert is a must-see too because it's the last song of the concert and the last song of Tarja with the band ever :(
Nothing wrong with writing provocative music either! both have a demographic and that’s ok, not everything has to be radio friendly :) But ur right, Nightwish does makes awesome music with grit and beauty.
The harmonising between Marco and Floor is insane on this track, and we've only discovered since then that insane harmonising is pretty much normal between them! With Troy in (or even leading) the mix as well it gets even better! My major bucket list item is to crowd-surf in my wheelchair at a Nightwish show. Apart from anything, it's about the only way to get a decent view from a wheelchair, as the wheely-seats are normally nowhere near the front. I doubt if my doctor or the health and safety nazis would approve, so the plan will need to be made with military precision. Just what you'd expect from the Nightwish army! :-) Btw, I've been searching through some of Floor's various work, and I think the highest note I've heard her sing, cleanly and with apparent ease (and likely more available if needed), is a G6 for 5 seconds (her final note in "Phantom", which blows most vocal coach reactors minds, is a mere D6), and which is well into "You have got to be fucking kidding me" realms, reserved for true vocal goddesses and the very best boy sopranos - I leave it as an exercise of exploration to see if you can find it too (I mean in Floor's recordings, of course - finding it for most vocalists would probably result in injury!).
You guys are definitely one of the hardest working reactors out there...your videos keep rolling out like an assembly line with some of the best music I've heard in years, thanks and please keep them coming. 👍🎸🎸🎸🥁🥁🥁🎛🎛🎙
2006, I was 13 when I first heard this song while browsing on UA-cam (I was looking for music similar to Evanescence, a band I was heavily into; i was an edgy teen ok). I came across this song and thought a band called Nightwish with a song titled Wish I Had An Angel was gonna sound cheesy as fuck but I watched the MV, and next thing I knew I was 9 minutes into Ghost Love Score chanting ‘my fall will be for you, my love will be in you’. I’ve been a fan of Nightwish for a decade and a half and I’ve seen them through their highs and lows and everytime I hear this song, I’ll always remember jamming to this in highschool.
Floor though. Floor Floor Floor. Look I'm a longtime Nightwish fan. I go back to the Tarja days. I love Tarja, I really do. She is a LEGEND in the genre of symphonic metal and rightly so. She deserves every accolade and all the recognition she's ever received. Also, this particular song, I LOVE the version of Tarja singing. But Floor though. Floor, Floor Floor. I believe she takes this band to another level. Ok, I should say, it's a different level. It's a different direction from what was going on in with Tarja. Because I really mean no disrespect to Tarja. I truly adore her. But there is just something about Floor singing these songs at Wacken 2013. I love how Floor made them her own. She did it her own way. She doesn't try to be Tarja, she just does it the way only she can. And it's not like she's trying to outdo anyone either. She just IS WHO SHE IS. This is what Floor brings to the table. She is incomparable. Both are! But in the end, give me Floor, if I am forced to choose. It's Floor, every time.
I think of it as Nightwish is all of them it is an ongoing performance evolution. Floor though has the voice, voice range, power and also stage presence and huge charisma. Floor seems to be one with a song in a way not many vocalists can really do.
You two are such a joy to watch, thank you for fun you bring to your reactions. I’m looking forward to the day you get around to doing Nightwish’s “Noise”.
Travis, Dude, take it from a guy who's been married 47 years. When she says "I wish I had an angel" and then looks at you like that, there's only one correct response. You missed it!
Floor sings a song from Tarja's first era , a many memories are awacken ! Queen Tarja missed ! So do Jukka Nevalainen at the drums ! '' I wish I had an Angel for one momment of love , I wish I had your Angel , your Virgin Mary undone . I ' m in love with my lust burning Angel wings to dust , I wish I had your Angel tonight ! '' Great damn badass chorus !
song number 2 of the show. you can tell because Tuomas still has his jacket and hat on. they all said, it was the biggest thing they had ever done, headlining in front of 82,000 people. i think the fans' reaction from the opening of the show dispelled any linger nerves by this point. they're totally into it, just letting it flow. between the band and the fans, creates the most epic concert performance i've ever seen. would put it up against all the famous live concerts, any day of the week.
The original official video is worth a look! It was included as a separate file on the edition of the CD "Once" which I bought way back when it was new. Marko kicks ass in this song! The way Jukka moves in the clip is classic too! ...... Suzy - the part you loved is purely Floor's addition (maybe "purely" is the wrong word considering the way she's moving in this video !? 😜) Even Tuomas changed up his keyboards for this! The Poet inspired!? Metal is Family!
Ok, OK, got that for sure. My actual first time listening to Marco's jam out hehe. Now to completely blow your mind. "While You're Lips Are Still Red". Live At Tampere Finland. Let's just say....without giving too much away.....Marco's softer, (but still awesome) side. :D Hopefully, others here will agree? :)
I feel there isn't enough comment on Floor's stage presence. It is stunning. She can stand like a mountain one minute and prowl around like a panther the next. She can also vamp. In other bands (After Forever, Revamp) she has shown her vulnerable side and her pissed off biker chick side (Disdain).
What makes this Wacken show special to me is it's Floor's introduction, for the most part. Sure, the fans knew about the change, but most probably hadn't heard her. Floor is great and good, but Tarja is even better and is superb and she has that special chemistry or connection; not only with band members; but most important with the people of the audience. Definitely, Tarja does it better.
Listen this Song singing by Tarja...youll love it
I agree
YOU WRONG, SAME SONG WHIT TARJA IN CONCERT END OF A ERA, THIS IS
Listen to the original
Def prefer the original with Tarja singing.
This must be that song Tarja Turunen sounds superior to Floor.
Tarja version is much better
THIS SONG CAN ONLY BE SINGGED RIGHT BY NIGHTWISH OF TARJA
MANY SONGS HAVE BEEN WRITTEN FOR TARJA WAY OF SINGGING AND TO HEAR FLOOR AND THE OTHER ONE SCREWING THIS SONGS IS JUST SAD
