Finally I got the time to fix it. In my SRX I noticed the exact same problem as in this video. I replaced just the passenger side shock and it was done. I want to mention that in order to set the new sock in place you need to push as much as you can the door to reach the connection.
Great video. This is the only video demonstration where only the actuator needs to be replaced. Just what I was looking for and wondering if possible to change just the actuator
@@NguyenTran-xp2bw Hi, I bought everything together but Iseperated the actuator part from everything else so I wouldn"t have to take apart the car. It is simple to disconnect the actuator. Just two clips
I replace the passenger side but the next day the power side started to leak fluid. I must have damaged the seal when I replaced it by pushing up too hard on the gate. Can that strut be fixed, any ideas
@@HowIFixedIt The power side strut was original equipment. I only replaced the passenger side. Maybe I should have done both sides but it worked fine for a day till it started leaking. Thanks for the reply
I’m sorry, I don’t know the part number for the clip. I am sure if you call the dealer with the vin number. They could point you in the right direction. Possibly at a part store too. I hope this helps. Thank you, I appreciate the feedback 👍
Thanks!! This is happening to my truck, I only find the strut from driver side with the complete line above $250 USD. I see you changed only the struts, What is the part number you use to change only the strut?
I was able to replace the actuator thanks to your video however I forgot to put the hydraulic clip back and a lot of the fluid came out while I tested it, now the liftgate won't open electronically. Is there a way to replace the hydraulic fluid that it lost or would I have to purchase the entire strut again? (I'm assuming this is why it won't work now since it was working fine until a lot of fluid squirted out due to the missing clip). Great video by the way.
i ordered the liftgate strut.. The strut is still about 1/4 inch longer than what I can open the liftgate. I will bend the hinges if I open it more. Is there a way to short the strut?
@@HowIFixedIt I'm only able to find the actuator that comes with the entire line that goes in between the panel. It cost over $200. Are you able to get the part that you replaced by itself? And/or can I remove that line with the new part so I don't have to take apart all of the rear paneling? Thanks
Hi, my car faces the same problem, can I ask what is the name or code of lift support I should buy for my cadillac srx 2011 ? I searched on Amazon but still don't know what is it called, so I can't find this. I found one but this is the whole liftgate actuator, so its quite expensive
Yeah, unfortunately they started selling the entire unit. I didn’t have a code. Just didn’t operate properly. Would not stay up. Liftgate strut assembly. It is expensive for sure. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback. Thank you 👍
@@HowIFixedIt thank you so much. And can I ask about this again, can I just use the simple strut for this and dont use the actuator? I see on amazon, they are selling a couple of liftgate lift support which they said that fits cadillac srx 2011, but it looks like the same both 2 sides, which means aren't included the actuator. This is just about 40 for 2, while the whole unit cost more than 300
Mines don’t open I don’t even hear it clicking. And light don’t even come on the door and and my reverse camera don’t work could it be a fuse? How do I check?

Great now I need to find someone to do this for my car thanks 😀🙏

It is possible. Still have to buy entire unit though. Customer choice.

@@carlbernngl Hi, can I ask where do you buy just the actuator ? I saw many place sell the whole, not just that

Hey, what was the part number for the park that you replaced? My car is having the same problem. Thank you so much for this video!
It’s in the comments multiple times. I’ve responded to this question before.
Great video. Is hydraulic fluid need to be added after installation of the actuator?
I appreciate the kind words. I did not need fluid. Has fluid already installed inside cylinder. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
I replace the passenger side but the next day the power side started to leak fluid. I must have damaged the seal when I replaced it by pushing up too hard on the gate. Can that strut be fixed, any ideas
I would return the part as defective. They never give me issues when returning defective parts.👍

Do you know if they sell just the stunt for the hydraulic? I’m finding only the one with the hoses.
Unfortunately, they only make the entire unit now. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
Thanks for sharing. I wondering what is the part number for this left lift shock... Can I get it from Amazon? Thanks.

Where did you get the hydraulic strut ?
I’m not able to find it anywhere
All they have is the one one the right side
I had to get it from the dealer.. I believe it’s called a liftgate actuator assembly.. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
Where can i get the hydraulic line clip because when i was taking it off i broke it or what number part is it, thank you

Unfortunately I don’t think they sell just the strut anymore. Needs entire assembly.
What type of Brace Support is needed to keep hatch open, in order to repair or replace needed parts
Hood prop. For weak struts.

It is not operating because of the fluid. I would just return the unit as defective. Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it 👍
It is necessary to replace both? I think the hydraulic cylinder is working but the shock/cylinder doesn’t have enough force to hold the door.
I only replaced the hydraulic side. Other was okay on my model. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback. Thank you 👍
Are all replacement parts fitting the same hose? I don’t mind paying for AC Delco. Better than the $1000 caddy dealer quoted.
I would strongly recommend manufacturers recommended parts. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
how do you leave hatch door open in order to repair it. I get the opening part ,but How do you KEEP it open
Hood prop. Or a solid 2x2.

It’s hydraulic. So you should be able to push it in by hand. Then release and attach when at the right spot.
What is the part number to the damper with that connects to the hydraulic line
Part numbers vary. I would discuss with a parts advisor.
