  • www.aim.edu.au/ In this tutorial, Jason de wilde demonstrates how to use the power of ProTools 8 - Elastic Audio. Elastic Audio allows you to easily change the tempo and timing of your sound files without cutting up your tracks. Here Jason uses Elastic Audio to fix "out-of-time" tracks. This kind of fix would have taken longer using the old Beat Detective or manual cut and nudge methods. Elastic Time makes it really easy.
Jason is a senior management professional with Australian and international experience in managing Audio and Creative Media educational facilities. He has been involved in audio education since 1989, and is a freelance music producer/engineer with a wealth of studio experience. He also specialises in recording live performances & has recorded concerts for Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, John Butler Trio, Cat Empire and the Wailers. Jason commenced working for the Australian Institute of Music in 2009 as a lecturer specialising in recording techniques and digital audio workstations. He now heads the Audio Department of AIM, and is in charge of the studio facilities.

Great Video and information.... I'm having an issue with the Elastic audio in Pro Tools. When i open my project some of the tracks are greyed out and this message comes up
saying "Unable to perform elastic audio because audio fil on playlist is unsupported for Elastic Audio as it is read only"? I have tried to go into the folder where audio files are for the project in the my C derive and turn off read only and it still does not work? These greyed out audio tracks will not play in the project? i end up deleting and recording the tracks (which is a waste of time) just so that it dos it over again. Have you or has anyone run into this, and was able to fix it? Avid is impossible to get an answer from regarding this.. I cant get tech support.. thanks

Hello, we need to see more of the screen and less of you. I like the audio, and how you are delivering the dialog, but I really only need to see the screen after you've introduced yourself and told us what the lesson is going to be about.
