PT has come up w/ something real cool. Just 'cause I'm trained on PT to the max doesn't mean that it's not the best. I am soooo impressed w/ it that I'm really convinced, Cubase, Logic, etc doesn't compare.
You're right. I just think a lot of young people can benefit from Record because it doesn't require such an investment as a decent Pro Tools/Reason set up. I run both Pro Tools 8 and Reason 4 and love it. Record has its limitations, but to the beginner, it's a great way to start.
3:53 " we're giving you everything you want, nothing that you need"
I use the same combo. I also use a VST to RTS adapter to be able to use all those cool free VST's next to my Access Virus, X0XB0X and MC909. It's just all I need.
haha, i caught that too- "everything you want, and nothing that you need" hahahaha
Wow! I love it. New studio coming in my future.
Yes your right there I have started using Pro Tools quite a bit recently and its very good but something like zooming don't seam as intuitive as other apps Ive used. I love the Multi-band compressor in Nuendo though.
I run Protools LE 8, with a Mac Mini(599.00 bucks) an Mbox 2 Pro, (350.00bucks on Craigslist) and It runs flawless, no matter what plugins I use, I ran a first test while still running LE 7.4 and I was able to run 105 Dverbs for a full 5 min, run, which is the standard test on the Digidesign user's forum, before I got the Mac, I had a Windows PC that was built before I got Protools, it was an Athlon XP 2Ghz single core, and it still ran protools, not great but enough to get by.
protools LE requires any digidesign interface, mpowered requires an m-audio interface, and hd requires the right digidesign interface as well
Phil is a funny guy and the MASTER of protools! "everything you want but nothing you need" hahaha... I think he was making the joke referring to maybe the ability to print sheet music, not that is not useful for some people I am sure it is for some orchestral score writers but most producers probably won't need to print music out of protools.
I don't own a Mac, but I have the same problem with the H/W Buffering size things. You can fix it by going to Setup > Playback engine > H/w buffer size... You can mess around with the buffer size until the song you playback doesn't lag or stop. Be careful : if you put it too high, Pro tools may crash or just be plain stupid.Start around 256 Samples and work your way up from there until you hit sample number that sounds good and doesnt lag your song or come up with H/w buffer thing. Hoped i help!
You need to have a digidesign soundcard. You can also have M-audio soundcard and use M-powered Pro tools.
I think there's a limited version of Reason that comes with Pro Tools 8. Propellerhead also has a new program called Record that has a version that has reason in it that's pretty sick.
2020 still looks tha same
u can get either pro tools 7 LE/HD
or pro tools 8 LE/HD
its simply a matter of nuying the expensice or cheap version :)
but yes pro tools 8 LE comes with boom. and many other nice plugins
i like reason 5 record better just wish it had the music score window to print. protools is the industry standard but reason doesnt require you to have all the m box stuff. the mixer in reason ssl9000 amazing
It's likely the context was "we gave u everything u want so u won't find anything that you don't need".
Totaling 22? I thought it just added preamps for the other 4 of the 8 analog inputs.

hummm... i look back on my lexicon omega unit and hate it!!! i dont know if it is cubase or the omega unit but they are not compatible. i think it is something about the driver... but i know im going with PT next time so much nicer any ideas what to do with my paper wait???
Hope my Waves & Celemony plugins keep up?
It's not that much if you look at all those VST's you can use freely. I don't know of any cheaper ones.
I need that adapter but hate to spend a hundred for it...do you know if there's a cheaper one besides FXpansion?
Great vid, a lot of explanation. Although I'm new to recording so I didn't know most of the terms you were using. What's a built-in arpeggiator? Btw i'm looking for a good recording software like this, but like i said, I don't have much recording experience. Do you think I'm ready for the world's most powerful audio editing software?
No one seems to be really talking about the DB-33 tonewheel organ emulator plugin. Is it decent or is it, as I am suspecting, not worth talking about?
sure I have, but to each his own. I maybe more partial for the simple fact that I am more trained w/ PT.
I read somewhere that ProTools 8 won't run without some compatible hardware, such as a MIDI keyboard. I was just wondering is there any fact to this? I'd like to get it, just need to know what I all have to buy. Thx
i have a buffering issue on the pc side of my mac ... do anybody knows how i fix it ????
Lawl, that kid's never even heard of an Apogee. Indeed they all pretty much sound the same, such is the sterile digital world. Though some factory dyn and time-based plugins sound better on one DAW versus another, as you no doubt know.
Is Pro Tools LE just as effective as Pro Tools 8? Does LE come with the Boom?
Over 100 kits. There is like 8 in boom???
This guys good he might of said "uh" 1 or 2 times
Isn´t it suppose to be "we gave u everything u want so u won't find anything that you LACK or be without"???
i caught that too, so funny
lol thats what I thought. I had to stop and think about it and I still don't get it ahah
Logic Jingle...
Where do you think part of the 10G expense was dummo? I've already returned an 8core mac that cost over $5000. How long was I supposed to wait around for Digidesign and Spectrasonics to jump into the multicore 64 bit world? I must continue to write & I don't have the time to wait. I have a quadcore PC, finally, after a few hours of configuring, now smokes the 8core mac - bottomline - PC works, Mac failed miserably. Believe me, i WANTED the Mac, but had to return it.
@Throbzilla0 wtf i can't believe this guy got away with saying that.
Make that junk unlimited tracks, then we are in business:::
Yeah but record has no midi-out and VST support. So that's certainly a dealbreaker.
LOL you would be a bloody melbournian
Perhaps you're not being efficient enough in your mix - utilize group faders, aux tracks, etc. the CPU taxing comes from running RTAS, which I think sucks as being the exclusive format, but I dont think u can blame the program unless you've streamlined your workflow first. Maybe you have, then in that case - its unfortunate that the money was spent.
get a mac
i WISH i COULD SUE dIGIDESIGN. It's so CPU intensive that unless you have an HD system, you're wating your time. I've spent close to $10,000.00 trying to find a computer that can actually run it. So far finding a machine to run LE is a complete f#$%mystery. So now I'm stuck with $1000's worth of Digidesign junk. All I want to do is write!!

Perfect.
