As silly as it sounds, I come here to cry my Irish eyes this morning. I have sweet memories of tripping over this song 17 yrs ago when my my sweet mama had gently passed on to heaven. I am sorry for your loss. My mom died in 2018 too. This version and the one that Sarah McLachlan, Jewel and the Indigo Girls did at the Lilith Fair are my favorite covers of this song. I bet it was a beautiful service, especially with this song playing. My heart goes out to you and I hope you have been doing okay the past 5+ years.
I absolutely treasure Eva Cassidy’s timeless voice. Her voice pitch tone and timing echos so beautifully and touches my very soul. It is so pure and sweet and brings tears to my eyes. So thankful for this new found treasure to pick me up when I’m feeling down.

@Frisbieinstein Eva was an excellent guitar player. She was a natural and just played the way she felt it. We all love her voice, which is so soulful and pure, but her prowess on guitar flies a bit under the radar. Eva Cassidy was a once- in-a-generation (or lifetime) artist. Moves me every time.

She had a gift that very few possess and basically wanted to share it with friends and family. She had little or no ambition for recognition past the boundaries of her immediate circle but loved performing in public. Of course she worked at her craft, but did not devote her life to it. Eva Cassidy was very much, “what you see (and/or hear) is what you get.” Of the moment and inside the moment, pouring it out as only she could. What a loss.
