When I was a child my cat was missing. I looked everywhere. I went out back and she was on the other side of the Sanibel River just staring at me. I searched and found a piece of wood. Brought her back home. For some reason this song reminds me of her she's in heaven with my Mom.
A primeira vez que ouvi essa música foi no filme coreano. Nome do filme. As primeiras histórias de amor . Emocionei muito quando ouvi a música. Não tem como não chorar pela história do filme e ouvindo essa música ❤❤
This is the song I liked most but have fogotten for a while. So happy that UA-cam brought me here and recollect my old days by listening the your song.
One of the most beautiful pure voices--especially in this song. I have seen her in concert and she is wonderful. I wish she was more famous--to recognize her amazing voice.
Years ago I taught a music theory class for non-music majors at the University of New Mexico, and when we reached the point in the semester in which we were learning about suspension/resolution I always used this gorgeous song as an example of that concept. James Taylor sings harmony in the third and fourth verses, and on the word "have" he sings a second below Karla, resolving down to a third in an absolutely stunning moment in this tune. Set as it is in a texture that is mostly consonant and sweet, the dissonance of that suspension is bittersweet and lovely at the same time. My students loved this song, one of them even having it at her wedding!
The vocal part of J.D. Souther is a wonderful complement to Karla and James. And Garth Hudson single-handedly making an argument against all the accordian-haters.
Yes, this is one of life‘s great ironies one of life‘s great mysteries. She should’ve been as big or even bigger than Linda, and others of that elk ! The same could be said of someone like Dan, Fogelberg, or Jeff Lynne or Bonnie Raitt. I just don’t get it either. She’s incredible.
When the Devil knocked, Karla did not answer. Linda Ronstadt did. Didn't work out as well for Linda in the long run. And here I am, half a century later, listening to KB, not LR. God is great ❤
> The water is wide, I can't cross o'er And neither I have wings to fly Give me a boat that can carry two And both shall row my love and I The love is gentle, and love is kind The sweetest flower when first it's new But love grows old, and waxes cold And fades away like morning dew There is a ship, and she sails the sea She's loaded deep as deep can be But not as deep as the love I made I know not how I'll sink or swim The water is wide, I can't cross o'er And neither I have wings to fly Give me a boat that can carry two And both shall row my love and I And both shall row my love and I.. 2023 everyone..!!!! 😄💫✨
Karla, your voice is as beautiful as the song itself. The lyrics of the song is so meaningful and loving, I fell in love with the song the more I listened to it. It evokes sense of melancholic sweetness that is everlasting to the feeling of mind and soul. Beautiful!!!
I have been a fan of yours for many years. Got to see you at the American Theater in Hampton, VA, a number of years ago and it was awesome. Your voice is so pure.
Good bye Dawn. My first love, I've lost you to the ages too soon. We enjoyed the ride across the waters and now you go onward without me. My wild grief bleeds out of me but through tears, I smile. For even though we never came to be, I'm so glad we discovered before your journey Home that we could have been, and even through it all .. we remained the greatest of friends. I never stole the kiss you offered so long ago no matter how I yearned to, and we knew it was better that way. Dance with joy, your pain gone, and be at peace, darling. The water's not that wide .. see you soon in the morning.
I listened to this song first in a tape that my mom bought me when I became middle school student . I really liked this song even if I didn't know english. I think its rhythm and feeling was just good. Now I am 45 years old man. From s.Korea
The incomparably brilliant Garth Hudson on accordion . No doubt given free rein to conjure up his sublime magic . No one and I mean no one in the music industry , can compete with Garth's musicality ...the finest and most distinguished musician EVER from the Rock era .
The water is wide, I cannot get o'er Neither have I wings to fly Give me a boat that can carry two And both shall cross my true love and I I lean'd my back against an oak Thinking it was a mighty tree But first it bent and then it broke So did my love prove false to me I put my hand in some soft bush Thinking the sweetest flow'are to find I prick'd my finger to the bone And left the sweetest flow'are behind O love is handsome and love is kind Gay as a jewel when it is new But love grows old and waxes cold And fades away like the morning dew The water is wide, I cannot get o'er Neither have I wings to fly Give me a boat that can carry two And both shall cross my true love and I
Wow, 1st listen, it is *bliss*! Karla this is wonderful. They don't make music like this anymore. Thanks for existing and so happy you are around still! I just discovered that. LOL. I first heard you in 1984, the Footloose soundtrack, "Somebody's Eyes". With love from (me) and wishing you a safe and wonderful 2018! Blessings from Orlando, Florida
The Korean movie "Pure Love" introduce me this song and I'm addicted to it whenever I hear this song it reminds me how sad the movie was😭 I still can't get over!
One of my favourites .. There is another verse : "I laid my back against an oak thinking it was the strongest tree, but first it bent and then it broke and that's the way love s been to me"
From WIKI - - This song (also called "O Waly, Waly") is a folk song of Scottish origin. It remains popular in the 21st century. It's original writer is of "unknown" origin. Cecil Sharp, an 🇬🇧 folk song collector and activist/revivalist, published it in 1906. 🍻 🇮🇪 🙂
RIP Garth Hudson, who played the gorgeous emotional accordion solo on this beautiful song. ❤
When I was a child my cat was missing. I looked everywhere. I went out back and she was on the other side of the Sanibel River just staring at me. I searched and found a piece of wood. Brought her back home. For some reason this song reminds me of her she's in heaven with my Mom.
🥺 I'm sorry for the loss of both of them, but what a sweet story about your cat.
What a luxury to have James Taylor and JD Souther on backing vocals!
James Taylor included this song on his album after touring with Karla in the early 80s.
... and the now immortal Garth Hudson on accordion. I can't get good separation on the mix here though to hear the accordion properly.
A primeira vez que ouvi essa música foi no filme coreano. Nome do filme. As primeiras histórias de amor . Emocionei muito quando ouvi a música. Não tem como não chorar pela história do filme e ouvindo essa música ❤❤
Best cover ever of this song ... 19SEP2024 RIP JDS ❤
Dayum that is beautiful, can you believe it's 200 years old 😮😮😮😮
This is the song I liked most but have fogotten for a while.
So happy that UA-cam brought me here and recollect my old days by listening the your song.
너무 감미롭고 이노래 들으면 고요한 새벽에 하얀 호수가 생각이 납니다. 무심코 앉아서 멍하니 그 호수를 바라보는거죠
😢 This makes me ball every time

It's one of my favorites. ❤️
I could never understand K.B. was never as well known as other artists! She's great!

That's because everyone thought back then that her music was Linda Ronstadt. Linda sang Karla's music, but the REAL talent was Karla!!!

This song is so beautiful and sad. It pulls on your heart strings. Especially this week because I lost someone close to me.
Have loved her music for a long time. Karla, thank you for your beautiful voice and for decades of your musical gifts.
Oh my! Loved this song for so many years.
Brilliant work by Garth Hudson, so melancholy and beautiful
I never tire of this song. It always moves me to tears.
Songwriters rule and Bonoff is one of the all time best! Nothing else to say.

The water is wide, I can't cross o'er
And neither I have wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row my love and I
The love is gentle, and love is kind
The sweetest flower when first it's new
But love grows old, and waxes cold
And fades away like morning dew
There is a ship, and she sails the sea
She's loaded deep as deep can be
But not as deep as the love I made
I know not how I'll sink or swim
The water is wide, I can't cross o'er
And neither I have wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row my love and I
And both shall row my love and I..
2023 everyone..!!!! 😄💫✨

Just gorgeous. With James Taylor and Garth Hudson.

The incomparably brilliant Garth Hudson on accordion . No doubt given free rein to conjure up his sublime magic . No one and I mean no one in the music industry , can compete with Garth's musicality ...the finest and most distinguished musician EVER from the Rock era .
The water is wide, I cannot get o'er
Neither have I wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall cross my true love and I
I lean'd my back against an oak
Thinking it was a mighty tree
But first it bent and then it broke
So did my love prove false to me
I put my hand in some soft bush
Thinking the sweetest flow'are to find
I prick'd my finger to the bone
And left the sweetest flow'are behind
O love is handsome and love is kind
Gay as a jewel when it is new
But love grows old and waxes cold
And fades away like the morning dew
The water is wide, I cannot get o'er
Neither have I wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall cross my true love and I
Oh that's JT background singing now I know why like it so much sing with me belt it out

Me llegaste al corazón. Aquí en Uruguay gustavo mernies
🎶 I read this song is from 1906-very old folk song. 🎶
昨年六本木のビルボードライブでカーラの歌声を聴いた。30年前と変わらない雰囲気のあるノスタルジーに浸った。涙が頬を伝う。
I first heard you on the radio Karla, about 1986, then never heard another track on the b b c, wow the work is so good, I
missed this, why??
I can easily see Nina Gerber playing this and Karla singing it as a duo.beautiful song.
I love this song🥺
