Thanks for the jk videos Brad! You inspired me to buy my first Jeep a year ago. Best decision I’ve made. Thank you! It’s a silver 2018 Jeep jk sport s.
I have also used the Mopar spray paint to match certain “add ons” to my 2015’s Copper Brown finish with good results. It’s what I think is a limited edition color that Jeep should offer more often to the Wranglers but my local dealership fortunately has in stock with their on the shelf spray paint options. The silver is another great color! Another word that stood out to me that you used describing your local shop/ mechanic was “trust”. Amazing how taking 15-30 minutes talking to a competent shop mechanic on your specific vehicle will show obvious knowledge or lack there of to affect the degree of comfort someone should have letting someone else work on their vehicle will supply. Super glad you’ve found that in a local shop!
I used that shop when I lived in San Marcos. Jerry and his crew are very good people he did the same for me when I was driving to Texas. He gave my Jeep a look over and suggested items that needed a little love. Brad it good to see the JK back on the trail!
Just bought my JKU recently and found a lot of projects. Some fun and some not so fun. Looking forward to working on it again. Just wish i had a garage to work on it out of the weather.
Color-matched everything looks so clean. If you didn't have videos no one would believe that this Jeep is a trail monster. It's been fun to watch this Jeep's evolution and experimentation with new things.
Enjoy hearing you talk about the Jeep that helped you start it all. Thank you for bringing back the OG beast for some more innovation. Looking forward to seeing more of the best in the coming year. Thank you.
Thanks Brad we still have our JKUR 2014 AEV with about 70K miles and really like you presenting your upgrades to your JK. Hope to see you again in Moab this EJS and a couple of us are doing Poison Spider encouraged by your video on the run.
SHIFT used to be one of my customers when i worked at CarQuest there in Esco. Them and Rancho Auto Repair in Temecula, aka (B&R Buggie) are two of the most intelligent shops I have ever dealt with! And I have built dragsters, off road monsters, restorations, if it has a motor , I have built it! And I go to these guys for advice.
Brad, just wanted to let you know... (Nothing to do w the current video, although it was a good one, as always!! And, dig the hint on matte vs. flat black. Looks GREAT!) My wife and I just got a couple of the Nemo Stargazers, based on your recommendation. Dude... All I can say is THANK YOU!! for spotlighting that chair. Soooo much more comfy than anything either of us has sat in. Doesn't cut off circulation to your legs, lol. A little tricky to get back in the bag, but that will come w time, I am sure. Only had them out once so far, but that was for hours while we enjoyed just how comfy they were, and how cool it is, leaning back. Bravo sir. Solid recommendation, and my wife and I are grateful!!
Dammit Brad! Just when I think what more could he possibly do to enhance his Jeeps, you go and exceed my expectations once again! Just testament to how a Jeep build is never really “done”. I’ll be interested to see how that Garmin does! Thanks for another great update!
Aloha, I did something similar and put 3 cyclones on the rear window and 1 on the interior with an aluminum bracket connected to a dual switch on the back/inside of the hardtop. Lots of light for cooking, works great!
Great video. Just shows how much thought jeep put into making sure we could run even bigger tires on the JL. From what I've read, a 3.5" lift on a Rubicon, a wheel swap with a more aggressive offset, and some high clearance fender flares and you're good to run 39s with no trimming or rubbing. Regardless, I'm happy to see you giving the old JK some love, even though I know you've been all about that Rubicon 392 for a hot minute. I know you sold the 4XE for the 392, but whatever happened to the bronco? I don't remember seeing a video where you talked about it going away.
Please do an everyday carry video! I’ll be going on a cross country trip and doing offroading along the way, and would like some ideas on the essentials to bring. Great video!
Yay!!! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Garmin Tread. I have the same set-up and I love it. It is big, but I swing it out of the way if I am not really needing it to navigate. I find it far superior to using an iPad mini in regards to detail, etc. Not enough off road use just yet as the weather in the PNW has been very wet.
I wished wiring my 95 zj was as easy as they make it now with newer Jeeps, especially having those Aux switches omg I bet those are game changers and make it so much easier! I'm truly looking forward to buying me a new jeep when my daughters start driving. But you're girl looks amazing
Great video! I'm glad to see you will be doing more videos with the JK. It's like returning to your roots. I miss the challenging trails you used to go on. I used to check regularly if you had a new video and what challenging trail you'd be on. Driving on flat dirt roads don't interest me at all. A huge part of the excitement of overlanding is being somewhere so remote that only certain 4X4 vehicles can make the journey. Being very secluded.
I learn something new with every video Brad. I have my own Firecracker Red 392 and I tend to copy your mods as I know you've done all the homework and have TONS of exposure to what is out there.
If you put in a relay you can pull power from two points for the back light when you open doors the light will come on ,then if you would like to turn it on from the switch it will light
So many rad upgrades to the JK Brad! I've had the Bolt hitch lock as well as the hood latch from Bolt. Super rad stuff. The rear facing drown light is looks perfect!
Lots of cool upgrades! Have you ever had a chance to weigh your jk as it sits, especially unloaded and loaded for a trip? I was really surprised when I weighed my 2 door that's much less built than yours. 4600 pounds, which only leaves room for a driver, passenger, and about 100 extra pounds for stuff before hitting gvwr.
Great house cleaning. Consider adding a power shut off to your water system as I had a spout setup in my Tacoma and somehow on the trail the auto touch sensor activated and released about a gallon or more into the bed of my truck. Since your system is interior just a heads up.
Love the videos Brad! Now that I know you live in or around escondido theres a little sub shop just down the street from where you got the work done called agrusas. Would love for you to stop in first subs on me
Brad awesome video! Check out weather pack connectors. It’ll give you not only a water resistant connection but it’ll look factory clean. And they are really easy to take part just like a OE connection. My .02!!
Great video...always good to have someone with technical repair experience to take a look at the Jeep. You are out in the middle of no-where and you need the JK at its best! Ty
Hello from Oceanside 🤘. Wow, never thought about the timing and crankshaft seals. I'm about to hit my 100k and was wondering what I should be looking at. I'll give that shop a holler.
MC, Thank you for your channel, although I am not a jeep guy (toyota tacoma) I implement many of your ideas, I no longer live in So. CAL by have moved to the great State of Montana, hope to meet up with on a trail in the NW CHEERS
Dude I absolutely love the light in the back and cigarette port with the voltage !!!!! Please provide video and links !!! Looking forward to that! Keep up the good work!
I like the KC lite on the wiper housing. I'll definitely steal that idea. Didn't you and Marco run a LED strip around the parameter of the back window? Do you still have that light? If not, what made you switch?
My 2014 JKU is at 133K miles and starting to have major engine problems even though I have babied it with early regular oil changes and all scheduled maintenance. Looks like I will need a new engine soon. Took it to several reputable mechanics and the local dealership which is also one of the more reputable ones and all said this 3.6 in the JK is not made to last much past 100K miles.
Second comment… Please show how you are securing the Dometic water tank to the Goose Gear plate system (I have both), so definitely following your modification(s). This has been a very informative video… thank you!!!
The Garmin Tread looks pretty cool Im sure we will see a review of it from you in the future. I do GIS a lot at work and am also frustrated by a lot of the available apps. However, you should look into and consider caltopo. It is more expensive but you can do so much more. It even allows for better planning like weather analysis, sun exposure, etc…. Check it out I have a feeling you will really like it.
I don’t think you’ll be sorry with the Garmin. I don’t work for Garmin nor do I endorse them, BUT I’ve used a Garmin for Ultramarathons & it works great!!!
This is very helpful for me! Brad what items would you say to keep an eye on when close to 100k? I have a "new-to-me" 17 JKU with 71k and after adding my 33s and 2" puck leveling kit I now have to drive 300 miles every week to work. It was great working from home while lasted but I'm now concerned about the wear and tear. Not to mention the gas!
Things to do list/watch… oil cooler/filter gasket leak(it will), flush your coolant system the drivers side will be your tell(only cool, heat will be meh) belt tensioner. Pulleys for the belt. Head gaskets have issues(passenger side mostly) mine? 2015 unlimited 177,000 on it. shocks, abs sensor, rear traction sensor…. Ask how I know.. 😉🤣
I never trusted the thin wire coming out the back. I run a 75 fridge and that little wire on that 12 volt plug was very thin for my liking. Just an observation.
That’s not a lot! You’re lucky. At 280K km I had to do a reman of the engine. There was aluminium dust in the oil. Your Jeep is mint! I so much need a garage 😂!
Interesting to see that he’s kept the JKU after all this time. At first I was sure this was another one of the covid-time videos that he was editing just now.
Just my 2 cents, if it were mine I would tape off under the rear fender flares and paint the arch that you can see that is still silver, black to match the wheel wells. Seem like it might look cleaner that way. Just a thought. Also what matte paint did you use on the frame that looks really clean
Hi Buddy! I admire and respect the way you share that "less is more", you are a do-it-yourself ambassador and I know many of us enjoy watching you do it.
Brad have you made a video that maybe I missed with a update on your Power Wagon and your Bronco ? Keep up the awesome videos, just wondering what happened to them.
I like that Garmin but the price is WAY too high for me and pretty much everyone I know. It seems to have become a status symbol like a I-Phone. You can have a tablet and any other system for way lower and no loss in ways to use it versus all the other choices.
Love your channel. Question about your KC Cyclone tailgate light. Awesome idea. How do you like the amber vs diffused? I'm a fan of KC Cyclones. Have them as rocklights and underhood engine bay lights. I have amber fogs and LP6's for the wet/foggy PNW weather we have all the time and love the amber light for driving. Not sure how the amber light would throw as a working light in the back. Thanks again for all your content.
Thank! You loose some brightness with the amber, but reduce the reflective glair. At camp, the amber is toned down and doest seem to be as bad on my night vision. Red would actually be ideal.
Thanks for the video. Jeep= Just Empty Every Pocket. I have a new 3.6 in my 2013 10th Anniversary due to the “oil consumption” issue from 12-15 on all 3.6s. Of course it wasn’t under warranty. I couldn’t afford the hemi as one would recommend after the original 3.6 dies. “Preventative Maintenance” as we say in the Army is super important. And yes, having another professional look over your rig is well worth it. Even though I taught mechanics to the new Soldiers entering service, I also trust one or two shops to perform maintenance on my rig. Thank you so much for the shoutout Brad, it means a lot
I respect how much this guy loves his vehicle 👍
I do too but it sounded like one long commercial to me
Thanks for the jk videos Brad! You inspired me to buy my first Jeep a year ago. Best decision I’ve made. Thank you! It’s a silver 2018 Jeep jk sport s.

I'm excited to see some new JK videos coming. That is where so many of us became hooked and it all began.
Enjoy hearing you talk about the Jeep that helped you start it all. Thank you for bringing back the OG beast for some more innovation. Looking forward to seeing more of the best in the coming year. Thank you.
Great video Brad..
Thanks for mentioning that shop. My work is walking distance to that shop, I’ll be bringing my Jeep there
When showing the products and changes in your shots, I really liked the slow zoom on those shots! Nice touch!!
Just picked up a 2000 WJ. After watching and subscribing to your channel can’t wait to start the build on it.
Yes, please show us your build out. That is so clean. Satisfies my OCD.
The silver JK is what I come to watch. Always nice to see, it is actually what motivated me to buy one for me.
Thanks Brad we still have our JKUR 2014 AEV with about 70K miles and really like you presenting your upgrades to your JK. Hope to see you again in Moab this EJS and a couple of us are doing Poison Spider encouraged by your video on the run.

Yes! More garage mods! With you doing them. You always do an excellent job explaining the process.

I did the same on for the light on the wiper motor cover, I love it.
This was fantastic Brad. Loved seeing the updates to the Jeep! It is looking mighty fine!!!
Now this is why I love being in the same town as you. Great work and thoughtful upgrades. I’m doing almost identical stuff in the rear in my Bronco.
Thank you!
Please do an everyday carry video! I’ll be going on a cross country trip and doing offroading along the way, and would like some ideas on the essentials to bring. Great video!
Great share TrailRecon. I always enjoy seeing the JKU getting love. Happy Holidays 👍🏽
Fantastic video, B-man. Love the conscientious way you look after your gear, and how helpful your example is for the rest of us.

Thanks Brad, I just talked to them and planing to have them replace the steering box on my 7.3 F-250 Ford Truck.
I know they will help you get is sorted!

Jason at AutoEdits is just giving You a Big Thumbs Up for paying attention to the Details… When in doubt… Clean and Paint 👍😃
The matt paint looks great on the frame. Definitely the right finish.

Hi Brad, thank you sharing this video. Very helpful. Thank you😊 I wish you, Regina and the TrailRecon Family a Happy and Healthy New Year 🎉
Brother I can completely understand. Thanks for sharing. Always awesome content.
You take great care of this Jeep, it still looks new
So many rad upgrades to the JK Brad! I've had the Bolt hitch lock as well as the hood latch from Bolt. Super rad stuff. The rear facing drown light is looks perfect!
I really like that rear light set-up, can't wait to see how you did it. Great video, as always. Thanks
Love the tailgate light. Can’t wait for a video on it!
Brad. Great video. I’m really looking forward to an install video on the 392 to install that Amber cargo light!
Happy New Year and a belated Merry Christmas. And may all your journeys be safe and enjoyable.
Merry Christmas Brad and family, stay safe
Great video and reminders on what to look for and maintain on the JK!
Lots of cool upgrades! Have you ever had a chance to weigh your jk as it sits, especially unloaded and loaded for a trip? my 4 door built up on 37s. loaded down to go camping it is just over 5300. with me and son sitting in it.
Looking forward to the video of you installing the rear hatch light. Looks like a great addition.

But I hope to get back to this soon.
Great info, thanks for sharing.
@TrailRecon. This your channel??

Didn't you and Marco run a LED strip around the parameter of the back window? Do you still have that light? If not, what made you switch?
Good to see the JK!
Missing the wrap hope it comes back
Timer cover gasket replacement is a MASSIVE PITA. I’d hate to pay that bill. Pretty common though … at least you haven’t had the Pentastar tick yet.
Nice video covering a lot of material. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Garmin.
use Anderson plugs for the light wiring.. 1000% better than the hardware store disconnects.
Just a FYI on the bolt hitch pin any key from Jeep JK around the same year will unlock the bolt hitch
My 2014 JKU is at 133K miles and starting to have major engine problems even though I have babied it with early regular oil changes and all scheduled maintenance. Bolt also has the hood lock that works with the oem key Brad
If you like having to work on your vehicle you will love a Jeep.

Find a reliable technician that knows your vehicle and you’ll be good
Things to do list/watch… oil cooler/filter gasket leak(it will), flush your coolant system the drivers side will be your tell(only cool, heat will be meh) belt tensioner. Pulleys for the belt. Head gaskets have issues(passenger side mostly) mine? 2015 unlimited 177,000 on it. shocks, abs sensor, rear traction sensor…. Ask how I know.. 😉🤣
Sweet rear light idea.
Looking forward to your Garmin Tread review. I'm using Gaia and not satisfied as the touch screen and organization needs improvement.
I never trusted the thin wire coming out the back. I run a 75 fridge and that little wire on that 12 volt plug was very thin for my liking. Just an observation.
Check out the dan on the Road Choose Me. He has done some water tank stuff.
Thanks for the jk video love your jk . I have 2013 jk and a tj and a jeep summit with a Hemi . Don jeep guy from north idaho
Excited for the fridge wiring video. It’s exactly what I need to do. Are you planning on doing a dual battery?
That’s not a lot! You’re lucky. At 280K km I had to do a reman of the engine. There was aluminium dust in the oil. Your Jeep is mint! I so much need a garage 😂!
Can always appreciate a seasoned technician that knows their stuff. Also noticed you switched out the headlights, how are you liking them?
Interesting to see that he’s kept the JKU after all this time. At first I was sure this was another one of the covid-time videos that he was editing just now.
Who would have thought! A Navy guy painting something! Isn't that akin to Marines eating crayons! Keep up the great work Brother!
😂 I've definitely done my fair share of painting and chipping, which is hard work. Nothing like eating crayons!
Are you going to do your Alaska trip this year and which keep will you take
Your high mileage JK is still running better than my low mileage JL which randomly eats batteries.
You should do a full review on everything and what you did on your jk
Just my 2 cents, if it were mine I would tape off under the rear fender flares and paint the arch that you can see that is still silver, black to match the wheel wells. Seem like it might look cleaner that way. Just a thought. Also what matte paint did you use on the frame that looks really clean
Great video as always! What did you do to your seats again? Katskinz?
Hey brad what paint did you use on the frame? Looks amazing!! Thanks!
What antenna is that on your driver side hood? Is it a dual band or cb? I don’t remember seeing a video on it. Love the content.
I like that Garmin but the price is WAY too high for me and pretty much everyone I know. It seems to have become a status symbol like a I-Phone. You can have a tablet and any other system for way lower and no loss in ways to use it versus all the other choices.

Surprised you haven't upgraded your hood latches to the JL ones. Way to keep the JK OG!

Hey Brad. Maybe I missed it in the video. Are you still running wheel spacers on this Jeep after the shop made the adjustments?
I couldn’t help but notice you had the factory radio back in? Did you not like the one you installed a few moths ago?
What makes me sad is that 125K is high mileage…for a Jeep… my V8 4Runner has 225K and is still great…I DIG my 392… but some days I don’t want to drive it so it’s lasts longer … I go anyways because it’s SO fun
The old 4.0L I6 would consider 125k miles as just broken in. The only thing that can kill those Jeeps is rust.
A 392 in a 4runner I would love to see that!
What happened to the Power Wagon? Do you still have it?
