THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!!! - Авто та транспорт
Great video! Very clever. I beat on my wheel bearing for 2.5 hours with a short handel sledge hammer until my arm almost fell off. I tried everything and it wouldn't budge. I think this method is the ticket. Thank you!
Within 10 minutes after watching this video I had it off.. worked perfect. Thanks man
I did a front wheel hub on a GM pickup in my driveway for a friend a few years ago. It was so froze I wound up having to remove the steering knuckle and smash the wheel bearing out with a sledge hammer, I will have to remember this. I have some large drifts that will work really nice where you had the ratchet. Very nice!! Thanks for posting!!
Great video for those who haven’t. been through this. before. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
A technique I used was an angle bar drilled three holes. Two holes to accommodate the lug studs directly across from each other. Then rented a slide hammer and mounted the angle bar onto the shaft of slide hammer a secure the shaft with the supplied nut. Of course using the Blaster fluid helps. Then walling on the slide hammer got the whole assembly to pop out.
I spent hours with a sledgehamer and it never budged. What worked for me in the end was I had a "dual rim separator" tool. Which had a huge bolt like yours, and a a special nut that had a "hook" on one end. Scary as hell, but it did work in the end
thanks !!!! , i tried this today and it worked !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got mine done today on the drivers side! I used Deep Creep penetrating oil, hammered a bit, sprayed again and let it sit for an hour. Then i used a 3 foot long axe with a 5 lb hammer on the backside and beat the old hub and it broke loose after about 30 minutes. I was watching the clock because if 5 o'clock came and still no pprogress, then i was going around the corner to Harbor Freight for the ball joint press. Luckily i didn't need to buy one though. Thanks for the video, it was real helpful!
Happy to help!! I did that lol except mine still didn’t break loose so I broke out the press! 😂
Auto Zone and Pep Boys have loaner tools for FREE . You leave a deposit . I have used their ball joint press and torque wrenches .
Really good option too for someone that only needs it every once in a while!! Love that they started doing that!
this is actually a nifty idea.
Nicely done sir- nicely done indeed. Thank you.
great tip ! I'm attempting mine tomorrow.
Bro, thank you so much!! Just spent 40min, banging on the hub. Off in 10min your way.
Try knocking out 2 or 3 of the wheel studs and inserting 7/16" bolts with washer and nuts, use one nut for a lockout tighten each bolt forcing the hub assembly out. Soak every thing down with PB Blaster penetrating fluid a few hours beforehand.!!!
I actually tried that with my mother in laws explorer! Worked way better than I expected!
I tried this and the wheel hub separated into 2 with the mounted side still frozen on the knuckle
Backyard mechanic changed my hub bearing 2005 Yukon 1500. There's only 3 bolts. I noticed within a month a knock noise. Then other clunky.
One lower bolt loosened and fell out, but as it was extended out it scraped and broke clamp that's holds the CV Axel rubber boot. I had to buy a new CV Axel. Insane ness😢.
All because he didn't torque the nuts or tell me to check them after a week or 2.
Normally you don’t need to check them after a week or so but you definitely want to torque to spec and use lock-tite. Sounds like he did neither…
Nice. Get a light!!
Hopefully this will help me out. I've been working on mine for the past 3 hrs I'm trying due both sides on my 02 silverado and they won't move
Weld a socket that fits the top round rim of axle nut
Thread axle nut on among
Back off two turns
Hit with sledge
great idea! 👍
When I was trying to take mine off I was using a framing hammer for driving nails and the outside rim looked like yours at 8:45 so I went to the store and got a bigger hammer a 3 lb sledge hammer and just whacked the shit out of it and it came off in like 2 hits 😂
I used my Ridgid hammer drill with chisel bit only took a few minutes
That is some Mcgivering but it works. You can buy the tool for 40.00 dollars.
Definitely a “in a pinch” type thing. None of the places around me had the tool available. I ordered one but had to get this done ASAP! Lol
Waiting on parts to replace my bearing assembly, and was wondering if a socket extension would be strong enough? Unfortunately, this is my only vehicle, so I can't get to the hardware store to purchase a hardened bolt for this. I'd rather risk ruining an extension than the socket itself.
It should work!
Here’s another tip. Get jack stands. Safety first my friend.
True! I have some just didn’t think to throw them under it. I normally do use them though lol
😂😂😂 The old spindle with tapered bearings are way easier then dealing with constantly stuck hub assemblies. I can clean & repack or replace tapered bearings in about 20 minutes. I had to replace my hub assemblies & it took 3 days for 1, and a entire day for the other 2 each. Huummm which one is easier? 😂😂
Right! Lol I love the hub assemblies when they actually come off but 95 percent of the time that’s not what ends up happening lol 😂
I would at least put my wheel under there ....still do even though I got jack stands
You can always use a bigger hammer. Air hammers are the best just put it on the top part of the triangle and air hammer it to the side
I’ve never been a big fan of hammers on these jobs.. just seems like it puts alot of stress on the ball joints. Probably just me being paranoid though and I’m by no means a professional mechanic lol
Yeah as long as you don't bust out the 8lb sledge. I have been beating them out for years, never really had an issue with a part that wasn't already on its way out. I am in Florida now so the rust is less a issue, worked in Kentucky B4.
@funkenstienjones8918 that’s makes sense I guess if it can’t handle a couple whacks with a smaller hammer it’s probably not in the best of shape lol
That’s thinking like MacGyver👍. I like it another use for the ball joint press and that poor ratchet. Lol.
I know lol 😂 it had broken teeth to begin with so I wasn’t to worried about it lol
maybe a 3/8 extension instead of ratchet or 1/2 if it fits
Good I'm glad you know how to get that GOD forsaken part off come by Daytona and fix mine 🤨😕🤔😒
Well i got the lugs out but the race is still in there any tips
I think this is a wright method.
so my wheel berring fell off would u recomend replacing both sides i have a 2wd
If your able to I definitely would!
Any tricks on get old 3 bolts loosen??? HELP???
Ive never really had any issues with getting those off.. I’ve changed wheel bearings on tons of different cars and normally a good size breaker bar is all I’ve ever needed..
Penetrating oil, heat and a big breaker bar. Repeat until they’re out
Where is the jack stand? Don't have one throw wheel and some lumber under it. Be safe stay alive
Agreed! I have a bad habit of getting in a hurry and not using one but I’ve been working on that especially when I’m working under a car! Thanks for looking out!!
How did you poke the tube 2 tiny holes in the bearing?
I just knocked out 2 of the lug studs
@@ZPTVChannel ok thanks, and yea your way is pretty more more simple then The others I seen That’s Lit
7:40. What in the strut coil compressing explosion lookin shit is this. I need me one of those
That is funny
Sir,
You have to tell your wife stop mowing on your next video.
She always picks the worst times lol 😂
Are you crazy. Keep her goin’. She’s a keeper
@@johnbutelo5280 that she is!
Seems like you could use the knocked out lug where you used your ratchet. I might be trying that in about an hour…
You could try it! In my case the lug wasn’t long enough..
See you don't live in Ohio where they use salt brine p
I’m in Tennessee so I got lucky with this being mostly a southern truck! Lol
My 03 chevy was so rusted the brake lines went out at 56000 miles
@@stephenb7902 that’s nuts… mine rusted out at about 300,000 lol
That truck went to the car wash every two weeks in the winterTook me over a week to replace the front hubs on mine had to drill a 1/8 hole intop of the khucke to get wd 40 to losen the hubs then weld the holes up not fun at all
Stop adding WD 40, It has nothing to do in these situations, add brake flude for instant penetration, WD 40 needs couple of hours to work
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely have to remember that for next time! Wd-40 was all I had on hand at the time so I figured I’d give it a shot lol
@@ZPTVChannel
Thanks for the hint, yes WD 40, not as I mentioned it as (DW), I had to edit

My backyard is infested lol 😂 you get pretty used to it after a while! Good eye! And I appreciate it!!
