    Hey guys and welcome on back to Dash Auto Repair. Today we are replacing a wheel bearing on a Silverado. It’s 2wd so there are no axles in the front to worry about.

    That came off super easy for you, one of mine is making a bit of sound I sense like a winter tire kind of grind faintly - I can wiggle the steering as I drive that kinda changes the noise so mine is due. I live where there is much rust etc I suspect mine will offer more resistance to disassembly. I feel like they should be changed in pairs will do both front and dust covers, brake lines etc

      This thing gave me hell for a second. A press would have certainly helped. Hey preventative maintenance isn’t a bad thing! Good luck out there

      Did my drivers side, took a few days including getting it all blocked up and trying to remove the failed bearing it was welded by rust, it was nasty involving much pounding, heating, cursing etc
      My bearings were worn much worse that I suspected had alot of play, finished it off with new bolts, dust covers and caliper/hose, gonna run smooth now

    Your outer tie rod boot is shot so you need new tie rod ends.

    Bro. Use elbow grease instead of strip science. Hopefully you used new hardware to mount everything back…

    Invest in a breaker bar for this job

    Anti-seize on the back of the hub is much better than grease.

      I agree! I've used both for years without issue. Thankfully. Its good to have options.

    Have you got this same but on a 2005chevy 4 wheel drive

    • @dashautorepair
      @dashautorepair  Рік тому

      Yep - Same situation pretty much. You will want to use the bolt trick to "unpress" the wheel bearing out of the hub.

    Do you have a link to that hub?

      @Rish is this for 4wd or 2wd? All the hubs I see say 4wd unless I'm overlooking it

    • @kellismith4329
      @kellismith4329 Рік тому

      @@timpierce3765 they are not interchangeable, the 4wd version has a hole in the middle for axle shaft
