  • Sunstone Engineering, producer of the leading permanent jewelry welder , the Orion mPulse 30, and the PJ, has introduced this latest model of arc pulse micro welder to be much more affordable (priced at $999 USD) primarily for the permanent jewelry welding.
    The purpose of this review is to see whether it can do the job it needs to do and how it compares to other product offerings.
    The model is an "advance model" (first batch prototype - actual machine will be white with a silver stylus - but functions will be identical).
    In this video I share:
    - Overview and what is included in the price
    - Assembly
    - Test weld for different thicknesses of jump rings (from most popular for permanent jewelry to very thick 16 gauge 1.6mm wire)
    - Value comparison to other Sunstone brands
    - Value comparison to no name brands
    - Who should and shouldn't buy the Zapp
    Where to Buy: The Zapp welders are made in the USA, and will be fully on the market by mid-September 2023.

    My name is Dana and I filmed this as a message to my boutique customers from when I was a wholesaler of finished jewellery across Canada and USA. I bought an arc welder for jewelry manufacturing years ago. I have been wholesaling jewelry components to other jewelry designers and makers for the last 16 years, when I started Stones And Findings. Hi Kelli! Thank you for this note - I am happy to read you like my videos!!
      Blue Zapp - do you mean the original one in my video? That was just a prototype. When the actual production came out, they changed it to white.
      You can decorate yours to whatever you want. THey have decals with all sorts of prints, for the new mPulse, but you can cut it. Alternatively, you can find decal film at Michael's (or craft supply store). You can remove it and it won't damage your machine.

    Hello,
    When welding gold, does pulse welding introduce any additional material to the part being welded, or does it merely connect the gold material without adding extra substance?
    Also, is it essential for the wire to be made of gold? Thank you

    • @stonesandfindings
      @stonesandfindings  9 місяців тому +1

      Welding does not use solder, so it does not add any other materials. There might be oxidation, especially if you do not use argon gas. However, spot welding is so small, unlike industrial fabrication, that it won't be weak or have lots of byproducts from the process.
      The wire should be solid gold rather than plated or gold filled IF you are balling the ends. But if you are welding simple jump rings, many people use gold filled. A small dot, the size of 1/2 a poppyseed will darken over time because the metal underneath will have been exposed when fused.

    I got a 3 year warranty on an no name machine. Everyone should use a barrier when welding to protect skin.The electrical tape is because the handset isnt painted black like the sunstone machines and thus provides insulation like the black coating does.

    Is the Crozat (co-cr wire) wire also weldable? 0.7mm to 1mm wire.

    • @stonesandfindings
      @stonesandfindings  6 місяців тому

      I had to look up what Crozat means. It's a dental part. If that's the one you're referring to, I think you're better to go with the Asian machine (large grey box) - that is made for the dental industry, not jewelry, so I would imagine that machine would work perfectly for you.

      Hi Tammy,
      I have heard of this before. I know you didn't purchase the welder through us, but I think I can help.
      If you have checked all the plugs (I know, eye roll, but just in case!), and try turning on the power. Does the light go on? If it does, please let me know what happens when you try welding?
      I don't check comments frequently. It's better to email me dana@stonesandfindings.com and refresh my memory of convo on UA-cam. I will advise you.
      Alternatively, contact the dealer you purchased it from. If it's any defect, they will have Sunstone courier a replacement welder to you immediately. Sunstone service is that good. We would have done the same if you bought it through us and I would video with you.
      Either way, we will get you sorted and welding!!!
      Chat soon.
      Best
      Dana
