Thanks for checking out our iPhone 16 Pro Max cage. We appreciate the feedback. We wanted to address some of the cons you listed. For the loose handles, our r&d team will take this into consideration for future releases. Secondly, the silicone rubber piece was designed to be easily removed to access the button. We realize this might get lost and can send out some replacements if you contact our customer service team. And lastly, the adapter ring needing to be removed - it features a raised section to prevent light leakage so it is necessary for ensuring best results when shooting.

Sounds good. I ended up using the CaTeFo handles with 1/4" Screw and Locating Pins which can be locked into position. This setup seems to work. I figured a replacement could be ordered if lost. This is still the cage I'm going with for the moment, due to the fact that, with some other brands, you are locked in to their ecosystem. It still a nicely built cage. I've pretty impressed. The size is also perfect for my pocket when not in use. I'll be doing another match up against the Freewell cage as soon as it arrives. Thanks for taking the time to check my video out!

@@Ranger7Studios I bought the green smallrig cage after your video and then returned it about 2-3 days later.. phone dropping out was too big of a trade off, and when you have a lens attached, popping out the phone to just do phone stuff was too inconvenient…

      How do you mean?

@Ranger7Studios What I meant was that is the clamping mechanism of the Smallrig Handle compatible with the Neewer Cage? I was about to get the Smallrig Cage then I saw your video. The slipping of the phone on the Smallrig cage is a let down.

hmmm rattle + insert = no rattle… too hard for him to figure out, I guess…?

That’s what we initially thought however, the insert doesn’t fit inside cage. We tried it. Plus, you shouldn’t need an insert for it to fit right. That’s not a very good product if you have to jam some rubber in to make it not shake. It seems like it was an after thought or quick fix when they discovered that it shook. Especially when they had a great locking system in their original cages. It’s just not a good locking system.

You either use the caseless insert or the phone case. Steven's right on that point. Their 15's cage locking button was also easy to accidentally press.
Some things to point out. Handles are installed wrong. The bolts should be hidden. Take it all apart and install it the opposite side. The bolts should be installed on the vertical rails.
Totally agree with you about how smallrig is handling their magnetic nd kits. It's such a mess.
Neewer's handle has an inner bolt under the bolt you see. I believe that one tightens the rotation.
You should be able to slide the phone with the nd filter mount attached. Was it fully seated into those little ball bearings?
I don't want to believe they blotched it when it worked flawlessly in their last gen cages.
Examples on their reels. Unless your copy tolerances are bad. You should email them.

@@T-pj8sr I saw another video where the screws were on the outside of the Smallrig, so I'm not the only one making that mistake. :/
I did try to tighten the Neewer bolt, but the allen key ended up breaking off inside the screw hole. It also still spun no matter how much I tightened it.
Now that I've had this a few weeks, I think the issue was... if you put any pressure while sliding the phone in, you could scratch your lens. I was probably pressing on the cage too hard and in just the right spot. That's why I got contact. It's just something to be careful of when assembling.
I just heard from Neewer and they are going to pass the handle situation along to their R&D team. It's always a good sign when a company takes the feed back and wants to improve on their product. So big props to Neewer!
