Thank you for this. I feel like Barber coins are generally not loved as much but I like them quite a bit and have grown to appreciate them more as I've gotten older.

The star of my Barber quarters is a 1914-S PCGS G-4 with CAC.

90% of all the barber quarters in existence are basically in between AG to VG condition. The fun begins when you collect them in XF to AU condition. Very scarce and grossly undervalued

Ben: Good call on the 1900-S. Definitely a VG10 bordering on F12. I like it better than the 1907. The 1907-S looks F15+ and that tarnish makes it look awesome. Thanks for this great grading lesson on a coin series that I really like. Cheers.

Valuable tour, thanks! Surprisingly weak, nearly worn off LIBERTY on the 1907P Fine. Not VG? That 1907S Fine delivers. Nice luster on the 1903.

Hi, Ben. I want a nice, inexpensive, great eye appeal, Cameo Proof. I don't think there is one like that in my price range. I love Cameo Proof Barbers. When I was young, I thought the portrait was of a man! *TYU*

Tough to find barber quarters raw with nice luster. Definitely a good investment for the right price.

Barbers always seem to be so worn. They were heavily circulated. The rims didn't protect the coins very much. There is a lot of details that needs to be struck up and the metal that was struck up seems to wear fast. At least that is my observation. Worn Barber coins don't appeal to me much. A nice MS or even top AU example... yes please! Thanks for the grading lesson. I learned quite a bit as this is outside my usual collecting interests.

Yes, the Barber coins were unpopular with the public when they were first introduced. Apparently, collectors felt the same way; not very many Barbers were saved from circulation.

      Very tough. But challenging! I’m missing 16 on a VF+ set. (Minus the big 3) and a F12 09-O.

Great video Ben. I used to dislike the Barber design for a while. However, when I started my 19th and 20th century type proof coins and had to quire Barber proofs I learned to love them. In high grade both business and proof Barbers are amazing. Really nice. Great video bud

Great video. If you ever do another on wear and grading, Seated Liberty dimes would be one I would really look forward to. Maybe a video just on that book and the various drawings of wear on various coins.

I have 25 Barber quarters. I don’t have the big 3, but most of the common date ones and a 1911 S, which is a better date. Most are AG-VG, though I have a 1903 that is an EF 45 and a 1909 D that is around and AU53. I also have a 1911 that is a VF details wise, but shows some evidence that it might have been cleaned in the 1940s or 1950s.
I also have all of the business strike 1932-1998 Washington quarters and all of the 1968-1998 silver proof and clad proof Washington quarters. All of my silver ones from 1955 through 1964 are uncirculated. Many of my earlier date ones from the 1930s and 1940s and most of my clad ones from the 1970s through 1990s are not in great shape though and need to be upgraded as time goes by. Standing Liberty quarters I don’t have too many, only 13, though they all have legible dates. My best Standing Liberty quarter is a 1923 that is around an AU58 or MS60.

The 1900-S is a VG10. Not enough for F and the 07 is also VG, looks cleaned. I’ve collected and sent hundreds of BQ & BH in from F to AU58, always deduct 1 or 2 grades. My first UA-cam video is a group of semi keys I expected at the time (2011) to grade XF40. They all came back 30 or 35. Look at the 1900-S in that video and tell me it’s not a 40
The 07-S is a nice circ cameo. Def a strong F15, probably a VF20 really

I'm through with a Barber Dime and Barber half set and tried to buy F12 to F15 coins in each except for a couple that I couldn't ever find so I bought nice VG10 coins. I lack the 1901-s quarter and it will be a killer to find in VG10 to F15.

My area for years. The first 14-S is fair instead of AG. Def not enough there for even AG, but we’re splitting hairs
The 07-S is a nice circ cameo agree 15/20 liner
The 1903 like every coin, would be graded by the weakest side which is the obverse. Would limit it to a 40 even though the reverse is AU for sure imho anyway. Forehead wear is too worn for AU
Submit it and I’ll pay the grading fees if it comes back stronger than 40😀

Great video question would you send the coins in? How much is it to grab coins? Thank you for the awesome videos your content is very informative.

  • @samsmobilepressurewashing8422

This video answered alot of grading questions for me with this series, I struggled with the transitional grades. Would you be interested in selling the 1903 AU and if so do I email your website to work out a deal?

I’ve always been fond of the Barber quarter reverse design, but I don’t enjoy the obverse design - Lady Liberty is too masculine.
