- It was back in 2019 that Microsoft and Ninja Theory first unveiled Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and now, close to five years on from that announcement, the long-awaited action-adventure sequel is finally approaching its release date.
The sequel to a beloved game and Ninja Theory’s first tentpole release as an Xbox first-party, Hellblade 2 has quite a bit riding on it, and expectations have been high - and getting higher still - in the lead-up to its release. With the clock ticking down, Ninja Theory and Microsoft have begun pulling back the curtain and sharing new details on the game, and how it’s set to build on its predecessor’s foundations. The combat in the first one was initially tricky to get the hang of it, but once you did it was actually quite fun. Personally I don't think I'd mind if it were kept the same. I guess we'll see how the new combat feels like.

I get not wanting to sexualize characters, but I can't wrap my head around the logic of making them look uglier than their real-world actors. I thought the point was to portray real women, so why is a problem to have it look like said real women you're using?
Although it's a huge massive downgrade from the Unreal Engine 4 reveal trailer in 2019.
This game proves that trailer was just another Xbox overhype, dishonest, CG trailer, just like Avowed, State of Decay 3 and Fable were 6 months later.

What about ultrawide for gameplay and cutscenes, FOV, DLSS, FSR and HDR support ...

It's doubtful series s will even be able to do HDR because it will be struggling to run it at 539p resolution.

@@spursdynasty7378 no, you don't need to be rich to buy all the consoles wait when the new one comes out then buy the previous one as it will be cheaper. With so many games out there you can't finish them all. Buying them when they come out won't really change the games. Sure, you will miss out on a lot of stuff including how many players you can meet but it's ok just play the games. I no longer buy new games but rarely I do as I have a ton of back logs.

Definitely agree the console wars are really dumb I may have no interest in Xbox exclusives and don’t sub gamepass but I see the value of the service and highly recommend it as an option . Both platforms offer stuff people want but they’ll typically scream about what the other doesn’t. If system has games I want I’ll come no questions asked

Xbox this gen is absolutely brutal. They never think “what should our players be playing now?” PS, by contrast, has attracted 3rd party exclusives to fill gaps. Ghostwire Tokyo, Deathloop, Rise of the Ronan, FF7, FF16, Stellar Blade, Kena, Helldivers. Xbox thinks gamepass is enough.

@@markuschief4472Spider-Man 2 and Returnal was the only games worth getting. Mostly Returnal though because it’s very different from most of the recent PlayStation exclusives.
I adore the first one as well as this studio! I really hope this follows the latest trend of Xbox exclusives making their way to PS5 in a year or so.

The last straw that convinced me to become a PC gamer. After a promising first two years of this generation, consoles are now back to 30fps locks or 40fps averages on performance mode and looking like ass.
Think it's always going to be the way with consoles where they start off as brilliant value but mid-life cycle and onwards they're just not going to keep up with bleeding edge PC. To be fair, I'm a generation back on my PC (eg 3080ti GPU) and I'm expecting to need to make compromises on visuals for this one. Big flex on the visuals from Ninja Theory.
Performance mode at 40fps? Which games do this? And Sonys 40fps quality do not look like ass. lol if you say that youve never played a 1st party sony exclusive on a nice screen. On my C2 oled, god of war ragnarok even dropped the jaw of my fat virgin roomate who has a $3k pc.

@@DoomiePookie Baldur's Gate 3 Act 3, Dragon's Dogma 2 run at 40fps on performance mode. The Cyberpunk patch 2.0 broke the performance on my Series X and Phantom Liberty performs even worse. FF7 part 2 looks like balls on performance mode. Elden Ring never reaches 60 on performance mode. The 60fps Red Dead 2 patch is never coming etc. etc. PC is where I need to be.
Also, you do know that most console games aren't Sony 1st party games, right? I mean, there are literally none releasing this year. And, yes, obviously I've played all Sony first party exclusives. That's the quality I want in *all* the games I play, hence my migration to PC.

I think I beat the first one in 7 hours, and I wasn't even trying to rush. I actually felt like I was taking my time. And it's more like an interactive movie, so not like you can really take more time exploring or doing side missions.

Consoles are back to a 30fps standard. That's why I'm leaving consoles behind and so will a lot of console gamers. Everything looks bad at 30fps. It doesnt matter how good the graphics are. Will I spend thousands of dollars to avoid ever playing a 30fps game again? Yes.

8 hours sounds perfectly reasonable. This is not the type of game to be milked for length.
The game will also be available on PC, you can already find its listing on Steam and even though there's no statement about the fps rate, chances are that it won't be locked to 30 on PC.
