  • Yesterday I scored a retired modeled table saw by Ryobi that’s never been opened; brand new in the box and here are a few of many reasons why I think it’s a major upgrade to a newer Ryobi model that I’ve been using for the past 6years. I was also inspired to do this video because I couldn’t find ANY vid reviews on the
    BTS21. Crazy!

Ryobi needs to bring back the bts21 design.

Thanks for the comparison. I was gifted the bts21 about 12 years ago I believe. I have been into carpentry and diy work since middle school, but woodworking and joinery has been an obsession for a few years now.
I agree that it’s a great saw for its purpose. I’ve cut down sheet goods, ripped tons of boards up to 2” thick, and haven’t felt like I outgrew this until starting precision woodworking.
The lack of a riving knife or splitter when the guard has to be removed, the lack a full width throat plate to allow for a 0 clearance plate swap, and the lack of channels for saw sleds or other accessories is a real bummer. The fence is probably just as good as any affordable priced jobsite saw and may even be as good as the Ridgid contractor/hybrid saw based on reviews I’ve seen. Maybe that’s a low bar, but for the price point in the old Ryobi blue line, I can’t be mad at this thing.
I’ll likely get a used Delta in a year or two to up my saw game, but I really don’t want to let this one go as a portable home repair saw for me, my friends, or my aging parents. It’s just so reliable for regular cutting

I'm preparing to relocate and starting to sort what tools I want to bring and what I will replace later. I have had a BTS-21 for 10+ years. I thought it was an adequate saw but figured it is due to get replaced with a newer model. After watching your video, I may move this into the "keep" pile.
