Hey Sam, the foil tool worked very well. Garden is looking good. You are getting great experience using the excavator, learning when to use it and when it doesn't work so well. Yup, using the right tool for the job is the way to go. Have a good one!
Respect 🫡 That ground get an old box spring and pull it with the 4 wheeler and put some weight on the spring bed and drag it over the ground. Best of luck to you all.
Morning Sam. Great video 10K is just around the corner. I was thinking 🤔 you probably already thought about it but I have seen people use a railroad tie and the thumb of the bucket to smooth out the grade after all the excavation. But the tiller and tractor may be faster.🤷🏻♂️ thanks for the video and keep on doing stuff. I can’t wait to retire and do more stuff 😂👍🚜💨☀️
If you can, always separate your organics into a separate pile. Also your topsoil needs to be separated from the rest. It will save you work later and give you options.
Very cool garden. Those will definitely be to close together. My grandfather used to plant exactly that close then he would take half the plants that didn’t do as well. I remember asking why are we throwing out all these good plants. He said we grow double in case some do not do well. I start all my plants indoors now days, I like watching the Root health and discard and slow growing or damaged roots. I love growing stuff.
Thank you! I feel like I'm going to really enjoy the garden. I'll definitely do things differently as I learn. I really like just doing and see what happens with stuff like this. Can't wait for fresh vegetables this fall! 🤠👍
@@samsdoinstuff practice trellising on the cucumbers. I found planting corn mixed in with climbing cucumbers grow magnificent together. They both thrive and help each other. I also have a all natural fertilizer list if your interested. !! Next year you will want to grow everything you can find.!! I personally think you will love it. Sending energy 🧬☀️
I pretty much have a similar setup, Takeuchi TB216, and a Massey TLB tractor loader backhoe. I find the backhoe pales in comparison to the excavator. Good choices, Sam!
Lots of good stuff done today! Nice. It might be an idea to use a spray paint line to know how far back to excavate for the rough cut and for the final grade. It would give a straight line, or at least a planned line, for the start of the slope. Pretty easy for me to armchair quarterback though. Three fingers?! Ouch!
If that pipe wont hold with glue you could do plastic welding on it. The commercial products are usually meant for smaller scale plastic repair. So DIY solution would be to make the stables from wire or nails and just hold them with pliers and use torch or something to heat them up. Good amount of stables and the pipe will be solid.
On your pipe, I just got through doing same thing but I didn’t use glue. But first, I wanted a tee that was 15x15x8 and was quoted around $250. I didn’t want to put that much into it and already had a 20 foot piece of pipe I was going to put in also. I researched and found out that the pipe is thermo plastic. So I cut a hole in the 15” pipe and put in a piece of 8” pipe. I used a small propane torch to melt the plastic and old screwdriver to smash the joint together. After it cooled, was as strong as the rest of the pipe!!!
Your "rotovator" make's a slab under the plowed earth you should first use a subsoiler to avoid the hermetic slab that no roots can go through....old man advise !!! Best regards dear freind !
Thank you! That area where I planted was a farmer's field and it has been well worked. All I had to do was loosen it up and add some rich compost. Time will tell if I get a good yield. 🤞🤠👍
Sam you are figuring out the excavator is not a replacement for the tractor or vice versa. Both shine at different times more than others. Hope your pipe repair works. I'd went with cpvc pipe glue myself and sealed it with bedliner for strength and water tight. But let's hope you fixed it. Great job with everything BTW.
Remember to add more soil on potatoes once a month after they sprout, this helps against solanine build up in potatoes (that green in potatoes, poisonous stuff)
Well done Dr Sam. i was being examined by an attractive young Proctologist, she remarked ...Unbelievable...I am speechless. You have a dozen,long-stemmed ,red roses pushed up your back passage. I replied...Read the card. Budddum Tissshhhh.
I object...thats not real digging ROFLOL...actually just a bit jealous of the ability to rotovate that much ground so quickly....I remember digging about that much ground by hand and it took me approximately three weeks..... gotto say if gorrila glue epoxy gorrilla tape and Silicone dont hold that together nothing will yeah tools for jobs unfortunately somethings are just way better at certain jobs than other pieces of machinery...you can get by but you really have to assess what youre doing and how you can best do it.

You forgot to hook the chains for the PTO cover, and the tiller ripped one of them off.
It's fine 🤷
I was waiting for someone to notice that! I still have one left 🤠👍
@@samsdoinstuff you need to use one from a cruise ship 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Looks good from here Sam!👍👍
Thank you Jeremiah! 🤠👍

Thanks Paul! Today was another VERY busy day with the excavator. Can't wait to put Wednesday's video together 🤠👍

Thank you very much! Great idea 🤠👍
Sam you are a genius. Great job.
You're over-shooting that just a bit, but thank you!!! 🤠👍

Thanks Mitch! Great idea about the railroad tie! I'm definitely going to try that... 10k here I come!!! 🤠👍
Looks like the beginning of a nice garden! And a good slope to mow on!
Thank you Chris! I'm so relieved that garden is planted 🤠👍

Thank you for the advice! 🙏🤠👍

I like the way you planted your garden; I think I will give it a try. Take care
Thank you! I'm happy I could give you some ideas 🤠👍

Thank you Robert! Those two machines make a great team 🤠👍
The planter tool worked well. Yeah a nice easy grade to mow will be better than that old retaining wall. Cheers, Mike.
Thanks Mike!!! Really glad to get at least one project done before starting the next 🤠👍

Hahaha! Three fingers! I actually thought about painting a line like you said and just got lazy. I'll revisit that idea, thanks!!! 🤠👍

Thank you! My Dad said the same thing. Will do 🤠👍
That looked like a lot of holes and seeds. How long did it tike? I'm thinking the better part of an afternoon? Hope it works out well!
Thank you! Yes, it took me about 3 hours. I'm so happy it's all in the ground 🤠👍
I often have to remlind myself to "get of the f****n machine". Sometimes your hands are the right tool for the job.
Exactly!!! 💯 🤠👍
are you supposed to run that tiller in high gear. mine says to use low gear.
Good question. I was in low range and 4wd. I started with the rpms a little low. Definitely should run it wide open 🤠👍
What no cucumbers?😂😂😂😂😂😂
Two rows of cucumbers 🥒 They're my favorite!!! 🤠👍
Guess I missed it😂😂😂😂
😂👍
You need a larger bucket for the crane this small one sucks 😅
Bigger is always better!!! 🤠👍
Flex seal time
That would do it! I just used what I had lying around 🤠👍

Ok that was creepy!

I hope someone removed the thorns first!
the excavator best thing ever
It is amazing 🤠👍
