Ppl are overcomplicating this. All you have to do is chose one! They all give similar returns. Keep it simple!
Agreed!
@@strongestapessee that’s what I wondered but maybe all the companies that they hold varies a little
Agreed, just INVEST YOUR.MONEY!!!
NOW!!!
@bloodystrawberry it's because some etfs hold a little more of one stock and a little less than the other. For instance one might hold 12% apple and one might hold 11 or 11.5% apple. Stuff like that but in the end they all pay very similar returns.
I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
@@RoseSmith-v7g That's actually quite impressive, I could use some Info on your FA, I am looking to make a change on my finances this year as well
@@SantiagoWyatt- My advisor is Victoria Carmen Santaella;
You can look her up online
@@RoseSmith-v7g The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
I'm 47, my kids are in college, and I can finally afford to invest. I just opened a Brokerage Account. If I have $80k to invest, how should I begin?
I believe every Investor should start with ETFs for a solid foundation, then diversify across asset classes and maintain disciplined, regular investing to minimize risks and maximize growth.
You don't need to find the next NVDA to succeed in investing. Just choose top-notch ETFs and partner with a financial advisor like I did. I turned $90k into $54,000 in annual dividends-a significant milestone for me today.
How can I consult your advisor? Looking to get some help on retirement planning and portfolio management.
"Melissa Elise Robinson" is the licensed advisor I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with to set up an appointment.
Thanks for sharing. I curiously searched for her full name and her website popped up immediately. I looked through her credentials and did my due diligence before contacting her.
My spouse and I are adding a variety of stocks/ETF to my present holdings for the long term, We've set aside $250k to start following inflation-indexed bonds and stocks of companies with solid cash flows, I believe it is a good time to capitalize on the market for long-term gains, but it wouldn't hurt to know means of actualizing short term profit.
Look for stocks that have paid steady, increasing dividends for years (or decades), and have not cut their dividends even during recessions. Alternatively speaking to a certified market strategist can help with pointers on equities to acquire
Yes, I've been in constant touch with a Financial Analyst for approximately 8 months. You know, these days it's really easy to buy into trending stocks, but the task is determining when to sell or keep. That's where my manager comes in, to help me with entry and exit points in the industries I'm engaged in. Can’t say I regret it, I’m 40% up in profits just in 5months with my initial capital of $160k.
Smart, If i wanted to do the same with my retirement funds too, how do i get started trading?
Well, there are a few out there who know what they are doing. I tried a few in the past years, but I’ve been with Melissa Elise Robinson for the last five years or so, and her returns have been pretty much amazing.
This recommendation is coming at the right time because i am literally grasping for straws atm! I verified her online and scheduled a phone call with her.
i invest in FXAIX
Is it good? I may go with this over Voo
@@appleztoorangesboth great but FXAIX has lower fees, but VOO has higher dividends I believe
@@appleztooranges It is very good. My 100% 401K goes into FXAIX.
Same I like fxaix my company even has it as my stock option for 401k
@@appleztooranges FXAIX fee is .02 and VOO is .03. That is the only difference. Either one is fine. My company 401k has FXAIX as the retirement 401K so I have no choice but to select it.
The 3 ETFs I hold are SPLG, QQQM, & SCHD. I prefer SPLG over VOO due to the lower expense ratio and lower cost per share. I just like the idea of being able to buy a lot more shares especially since it’s a long term investment.
Did you bought those one share of each?
@@d3r3kyasmarI started off with buying multiple shares of QQQM. I did my research on SCHD before purchasing, same with SPLG (torn between SPLG and VOO). The ETFs are solid and buy about 3-4 every two weeks.
So get some in both, no?
My sentiments exactly!
I have splg too, for the same reason, but not many UA-camrs speak on that etf, they always bring up VOO. 😂😂😂
Started my portfolio last year with SCHD, VOO, and VUG after watching one of your videos. In terms of share price, VOO is way up (22.25%) and VUG is waaaaay up (39.62%). Thanks for the education!
Isn't VOO and VUG similar in the sense both are investing in the S&P 500? What is the difference? I thought it is generally advised against to invest in multiple ETFs or Mutual Funds?
There is 55% overlap with the holdings in VOO and VUG. 1 is tech heavy and the other is financials heavy
@@OfficialByteBurst similar, but not the same. VOO tracks the S&P 500; VUG is just focused on large cap growth stocks. VUG is a bit more volatile, but with a higher upside potential. VOO is a bit safer.
@@OfficialByteBurst I’ve never heard anyone advise against multiple ETFs/mutual funds. You just have to be aware of overlap.
I'm sitting on some significant money ready to toss it into VOO, but I'm kinda hoping that price drops a bit. I know we only want to see the stock rise, but is there any chance it might drop a little bit? Because if not, I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on it soon.
I’m a Fidelity investonut 😂 60% of my entire 401k portfolio is in FXAIX. I also split the other 40% in a large growth blue chip fund, a fidelity international fund, a vanguard small cap fund and a vanguard bond fund. 15%,5%,10%,5% in that order. Side note the small cap fund also pays fairly high dividends for reinvestment. Thanks again for the great video Prof. G!
Yup! Love FXAIX!! Fidelity is the best!
So you choose the funds for your 401k????
@@johannemonfiston7484 Yes absolutely! Go log into your 401K account and look at investment options. Most have rather poor choices. If you have index and/or ETF index funds they are always going to be a better choice than the AGE related funds. The age-related funds will automatically shift your investment mix as you age and usually underperform the market. They will usually have a target date for retirement, such as 2040, 2050 etc.
I like FXAIX, FNILX, FSELX, and other Fidelity sector ETFs. They've outperformed Invesco, Vanguard and Merrill Edge products, as well as having lower fees. Note how the Prof. touts Vanguard... he did mention FNILX and I credit him for that mention...I have a good chunk of change in that one, just love it. 🎉
@johannemonfiston7484 of course. I've been self directed for over 10 years.
I needed this video. thank you! Got shares of VOO for myself. Got shares of SPLG for my sons account.
Since the s+p 500 is driven by 7 stocks that might revert to the mean i would put my allocation to the s+p 500 50% in one of those funds, 50 % in SCHD, and rebalance periodically.
Personally hold Voo, I got a decent position in SCHD already, so I'm dcaing into Voo and QQQM whenever I'm able to. Hope you're doing well!
In my Roth I run voo, schd, schg and O.
Same VOO/QQQM/JEPQ
Should i transfer my equity from spy to SPDR portfolio sap 500
What? SPY is the SP500!@@user-ju9fv2om6o
I invest in qqqm and ftec & schd with a Tesla and Nvidia positions as my 2 single stocks.😊
I am roughly the same too. Simple
I put $11k on VOO in my brokerage account and I have FXAIX in my ROTH. I’m 39 now and hoping for the best!!!
Hello Prof. G, I’m currently investing in VOO, QQQM, XLK, and SCHD for a target retirement date of 16 yrs. I’m late to the game at age 49 but thankfully I’ve been educating myself on solid ETF’s. I know it’s a little on the riskier side with XLK but the 10yr gains are insane!
I’m right there with you at 52 been investing 10 years but expect a retire with seven figures
Thanks for including SPLG. I chose it for the same reason you mentioned: price. I had my brokerage account with e*trade at the time and they didn’t do partial shares, so VOO wasn’t happening with the small amount of $ I was putting in. I’ve since moved that account to Fidelity (they do partial shares), but have stuck with SPLG as my S&P 500 exposure, especially with SPDR dropping the expense on it to .02%. Both mine and my wife’s 401k offer FXAIX, so I’ve got 40% in it for both accounts. Great episode, Professor G!
Very good!
I moved my 401k to a brokage link so I could invest in FXAIX then because mutual funds intimidated me I went with splg and rsp a another S&p 500 but everything is weighing equal ( just for risk management) hope I did the right thing.
@@NolanGouveiawhy the etf is more tax efficient than an index fund?? Thanks
Can you make a video explaining all the metrics that we should look at - P/E ratio, expense ratio, dividend yield, assets under management etc?
I did lots of backtesting and found that a 60/40 of 20% SCHD/DGRO, 20% VGT/QQQ/SCHG 20% VOO and 40% bonds or 4%+ money market matches the growth of SP500 in up years but reduces the losses in down years by 40-60%. If I was under 50 I would hold 90/10 and just add 10% to each of the stock positions and 10% bonds or cash.
I'm keeping it simple by investing in VOO, SCHD, SCHG by using dollar cost $5 day. It's boring and low risk 😊
Good work Hector!
If only more people did this!
Slow and steady wins the race
What platform do you use/recommend?
Boring but you'll out-perform 95%+ of investors by investing this way
Good morning Professor keep up the good work Im holding SCHD,VOO BND and looking to add another to my roth and im now looking at the FNILX , DGRO Thank you
Great upload. I got into investing in 2021 and have only been learning since that time. Back then, I entered the market by dumping 30k into SPY. I chose SPY over VOO because it has more assets under management and it's been around longer. I didn't have a lot of trust in the market, and the one with the most history was the better option for me at that time. I wanted to put my money where most other people put their money. It was as simple as that, and if it came with a bit higher cost, I was okay with that, as long as I felt secure. I'm about to dump 30k into SCHD too when the market pulls back again. We appreciate the videos, keep them coming.
Should i transfer my equity from spy to SPDR portfolio sap 500 etf?
Do you invest in the S&P 500?
YES my biggest holdding!!
I buy and hold VOO. I trade options with SPY
Well done, Prof. I currently have VOO in my brokerage account and VFIAX in my 401K. By the way, if you had 100K to invest today, where would you put it, pls?
Shiba
Holding Fxaix in my Roth and splg in my brokerage and no crappy international funds lol 👍
There are so many companies in FXAIX which have tons of international exposure that you don’t need to invest in abroad funds. We stay away from international on their own as well!
I like SPLG. Low expense ratio etf with a low price for those who prefer to buy whole shares. I'm in for the long haul so not worried about liquidity.
Currently has 208 shares VOO, once I hit 250, I'm going heavily into QQQM
Why not just DCA and both of them at the same time
@Kevinw4040 Because I want to hit my goal in VOO first and I don't want to Start a position in QQQM at all time highs.
I really liked this video comparison. I have 35.19% of my total portfolio in the TSP "C" Fund. It has an exp. ratio of .048%. It is only available to US government employees. It is not an option for everyone. I have 2.24% in SPLG which is best for "me." I also have .82% in FNILX. You did not mention it but the Fidelity Zero funds are only available to people with Fidelity accounts. IMO SWPPX and FNILX are perfect starting points for new investors regardless of how much they have to invest.
I hold FNILX and FXAIX, planning on holding them for a long time😎 both are positive for me💰☕️
Good ones for sure!
Roth is 50/25/25, SCHD, SPLG, SCHG
I started with FXAIX, but as we all know, all roads lead to VOO
I have Fidelity's Spartan 500 Index Pool Class D, which is supposed to mimic S&P 500. Unfortunately, FXAIX is not an investment option in my 401k plan.
keep pumping out those financial informational videos Professor G!!!!
VOO is my core 500 ETF fund… love ETF’s because they are more tax-efficient because they distribute less capital gains compared to mutual funds:-)
I invest in SPLG in my brokerage. I own SCHX in my roth because I had not discovered SPLG. I like VOO but I can buy more shares of SPLG and it has a slightly lower fee
I just added splg to my 401k as an alternative to voo and pair it RSP to balance the SandP and decrease risk in case a sector underperform. Those 2 are 60% of the portfolio 20% i share target funds. The other 20% not sure where to invest it I was thinking 10% realestate 10 % international
Admire your delivery, direct straight to the point. No cutting corners 🤓
I only hold voo in my deferred comp roth 401k for my job. Brokerage and roth IRA combination of VOO, VUG, SCHD, DGRO, and IVV. It's very simple, but it works for me.
SPLG is a my largest holding in my investment account. Second largest PEY, and then SPHY to hit the bond market then single stocks.. my portfolio has averaged 14 to 17 percent most years. That S&P algorithm is hard to beat
VOO, VIG, and VGT are my 3bETFs
any reason why u didnt pick SPY?
I SMASHED THAT LIKE BUTTON! Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of how I made my first million, I invested a lump sum in trading stocks with the help of an excellent finance analyst who trades for me.
Any time!
Congrats!! Who's your financial analyst & how can I get in touch?
Thank you. My finance manager is Amy Ennpress Ellas. I met her at a finance seminar in NY. Research her.
She's awesome. I also work with Amy Ennpress Ellas. A friend of mine who's her colleague referred her & she has quadrupled my 120k startup in few months.
Thaat's awesome
I just bought SPLG because it’s just as good as VOO and is a lot cheaper 😊
Splg is a great one!
I’m currently investing in SWPPX/SCHD/SCHG/XLK
Excelente sigo com esses etf também só não tenho XLK
That’s basically my exact setup too.
It’s hard to nail down specific predictions for the housing market is because it’s not yet clear how quickly or how much the Federal Reserve can bring down inflation and borrowing costs without tanking buyer demand for everything from homes to cars.
A lot of folks have been going on about the bull rally and said stocks that would be experiencing significant growth, any idea which stocks this may be? I just sold my home in the Boca Grande area and I’m looking to remunerate a lump sum into the stock market before stocks rebound, is this a good time to buy or no?
Such market uncertainties are the reason I don’t base my market judgements and decisions on rumours and here-says, got the best of me 2020 and had me holding worthless position in the market, I had to revamp my entire portfolio through the aid of a planner, before I started seeing any significant results happens in my portfolio, been using the same advisor and I’ve scaled up 750k within 2 years, whether a bullish or down market, both makes for good profit, it all depends on where you’re looking.
This aligns perfectly with my desire to organize my finances prior to retirement. Could you provide me with access to your advisor?
Marisa Breton Dollard is the licensed fiduciary I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment..
She appears to be well-educated and well-read. I ran an online search on her name and came across her website; thank you for sharing.
Careful. If your not with Fidelity I believe there is a fee for each FXIAX share. I like a 50/50 SPLG w/experience ratio of 0.02% and schg 0.04%
My 401K offers FXAIX that is the backbone of my portfolio. Secondary in my brokerage account a few ETFs SCHF and SCHD.
Professor G is the GOAT 🐐
Still hammering VOO, XLK, and SCHD. Also, I take the SIE exam in a few weeks!
Prof G Thank you for all your great content! I love your channel. You talk a lot about VOO, but Which S&P 500 fund do you invest in on Schwabs platform VOO or SWPPX?
On Schwab I’d go SWPPX
Might be worth noting that VOO doesn’t have 930b, that total amount come from a cumulative total between the ETF and the sister mutual fund version.
If your not trading with Fidelity I believe there is a fee for every share of fxaix. Because vanguard isn't known for stock splits who wants to pay over 800.00 per share? I like splg because it's more tax friendly then a mutual fund and its only 0.02%
I thought FNILX tracks the S&P500 but isn’t allowed to say that because they don’t pay for the licensing
“Large cap index” is veryyyy similar. Almost identical since S&P 500 is cap weighted too
Great information. Do you think Schwab will ever allow for buying partial shares of ETF's?
I think they will eventually yes
I dca into Voo monthly in my brokerage acct. and have a sizable portion of my 457 in FXAIX through work. I hope 2024 crushes it like 23’!! My 457 returned >46% in 2023.
Thank you for posting this very informative video.
Why SCHD was not mentioned in this video?
I know you have an entire video about SCHD.
Schd isn’t an s&p500 fund????
It isn't an S&P ETF
It’s a dividend fund. Better keep following prof. G
This is an awesome video! I own the Fidelity one on my 401K and my ROTH IRA
Greetings from Portugal. Great content professor Gouveia ;) Nice Rooster of Barcelos
🇵🇹🇵🇹
Hello professor...
I'm Brazilian, and I just found your channel; I'm binge-watching it. What do you think about only VNQ and VOO for the next 20 years? Currently, I only invest in these two.
Both of those are solid! And very diversified from one another
Check out RQI Instead of VNQ
You know me boss, I got some extra dough coming Feb & am looking to double down in my inverse etf against s&p500. My average in FNGD is just over $6. But I remain poised as to where I think we're headed this year. Tell me it's a bad idea, I'm Def here to hear you out.
If you aren't already in a 500 fund, buy SPLG, if nothing else, it's the lowest ER
Always remember that voo can and will change its holdings...at one time "general electric " was its top holding and now its apple...same dont put all your eggs in one basket for life
Great video. I don’t hold any S&P 500 funds but I hold it’s brother and there cousins for a three fund portfolio. 👍🏾
Haha I like it!
Hey Professor, I have a question. I started investing in VOO for a few years and recently decided to switch and start investing in swppx due to it's lower share cost, ability for fractional share purchases, and because my brokerage is charles schwab. Should I sell all my VOO shares and use it to buy more swppx or just leave those VOO shares alone and start from scratch in building my swppx investment. Whats you're opinion.
If it’s in a retirement account then you could sell your VOO to consolidate yes, but if it’s in a taxable brokerage then selling will give you a tax hit :-/
I would like opinions for a roth ira setup.
I live outside the US. It’s better for me to invest in funds that don’t pay dividends but reinvest dividends. This information is not easily accessed. Which ones are these
I am 60 and want to just trade for a passive income. What do you recommend?
Are target funds (like VFIFX) the same as an s&p 500 in terms of how they depend on the 500?
Hey you mentioned Splg… and it’s cheaper.. I knew that from the other video you had made but you didn’t say rather if it was good or not to be our core holding??
Yup it’s a great one
I buy SPLG. It is by far the best .
the only one that my employer's 401(k) offers is FXAIX, so I'm heavily invested in that one. (But also invested in Vanguard total stock market, intl, some bond fund exposure, via ETFs in IRA and taxable accounts)
That’s a great one!
Professor G, What do you think about the S&P ETF SPLG.? Thanks
I love that one!
Where would you put $1k to start your Roth IRA for 10-20 yrs or even 30yrs? SCHD?
Vtsax in roth ira vanguard
That’s a big brain move!!
I like SPY because it also has a highlyl liquid options market to sell covered calls on
Yes very true!
The hard on for VOO is crazy IVV is pretty much identical but you rarely hear anything about it. Is it worth switching to VOO if I have IVV through Fidelity?
Thanks for your info Profesor G! One quiestion, do you rebalance the % of the asset allocation? Thanks
Good day sir, i think you can make a good discussion with the concern i have, last july 5 s&p 500 gained .5% and fxaix only gained .24%, that is a huge difference, i know that both have very minimal difference in holdings but with this more than half difference i am now confused where to put my lump sum money from CD next couple of weeks. I need your advice which one to choose,
Subscriber here. I saw one of your videos where you talked about a website where you can practice investing in etfs and the website gave you $100,000 to invest. I cant seem to find that video again so do yu0 happen to have the link for the website? Thank you.
It’s the investopedia stock simulator so type that in Google!
@@NolanGouveia thanks
It would have been beneficial to state the frequency of the dividend payments. SWPPX only pays annually, which is a bummer. Nevertheless, thx for the list.
It’s JP Sears. That’s who he sounds like if it was also driving you crazy. You’re welcome. Have a nice day.
Im gonna go heavy into VTI and SCHD with my ROTH this year because I'm already in on them both.
My Roth I have 80% VTI, BND, VWO, and VEA.
I ll invest most my income this year . Thanks !
Nice!
All of these funds have a return of about 26% for year 2023, indicative of their common tracking the SP500. If this return stays the same, and I put in $10,000 in one of these funds without buying any more shares, what is the compounded returns in 25 years? Is there an online calculator where I can use to get this answer?
Why VOO not VTI? Love your channel ❤
VOO tracks the S&P 500 and VTI tracks the total U.S. stock market index so they are a bit different and this video is finding the best S&P 500 fund!
Prof. G thanks for the great content! Would you recommend someone that already has VOO to change to SPLG because of its lower price per share and expense ratio?
No I wouldn’t necessarily, I mean you could but if it’s in a taxable brokerage you’ll have to pay taxes on any gain when you make the sale to switch
VOO is always the core ETF (60%) in my portfolio
Schd and voo. Good call from you. Thanks
FXAIX in a Roth 🤝🏻
This is a solid move!
To bad schwab charges a load fee
all the way up !!
I like FXAIX!
my 401k investment and it’s made me some money!
yupe, I like it better than SCHD, I sold them all and buy more FXAIX
Vanguard all day!
My favorite, yes, but I still mix it up.
Thanks for the valuable information on s&p 500. What’s your thought on SPYG?
Hey prof, any opinion on MAGS etf?
FXAIX yaassss ❤❤❤
🏆🏆
Can you tell me whats wrong with VONG? everyone hates it, but I'm doing well with it, and yes I have others
VOO, SCHD, VUG, TSLA
Is there any penalty if you buy a vangaurd fund in say Fidelity, vangaurd or any other brokerage?
Vanguard is the best
What about VOOG since comparing to those in the vid, it seems to do better over the long run. What about tax drag in a taxable account when holding those mutual funds? Can the good Prof go deeper in that topic please?
VOOG is the growth companies within the S&P 500 so that is different than the safety you’ll get with the broad index rather than just growth
Professor G,
I’ve initiated my Roth IRA on Robinhood, acknowledging the mixed sentiments surrounding the GME incident in 2021. The lure of a 3% return with gold is compelling, leading me to entrust my future to Robinhood. What are your thoughts on this?
what you guys think about: 50% SCHD, 25% VOO and 25% qqq? Greetings from Brazil.
I like it! I like qqqm over qqq but ya
When deciding between ETFs like Vanguard S&P 500 and SPDR S&P 500 or Vanguard FTSE All-World and Invesco FTSE All-World, should you opt for the one with the lower AER, or is it better to choose based on a longer track record and larger fund size?
I use VOO, ftw
It’s okay to hold FXAIX in a taxable brokerage account?
Yes of course
