Not a big deal defensively it would have been a minus, I honestly wouldn't mind Gary Harris he would be cheaper and could provide better shooting from 3 and defense then Demar, but if it comes down to Demar or nothing I would take a gamble for a 1 year deal.
I see what you mean, but at the same time, they need demar because if they atleast want to hop back into the playoffs I don't want the lakers going into a rebuild I think we could get one more title with labron and davis
If they wanna make it out of the western conference, they need someone who can guard Murray, SGA, Ant, Luka, etc. Vanderbilt might be able to guard Luka but they need a guard who can at least slow down some of the elite guards in the west.

Lakers front office moves: Zubac to Clippers for Muscala, Letting Brook Lopez walk when he was willing to take a paycut, swapping out Howard & McGee for Marc Gasol & Trez, letting Caruso walk, trading THT for Pat Bev, killing Thomas Bryant's momentum in his second run by bringing in another center & killing his pt, trading Kuzma, KCP, Trez & the #22 pick for Russ, not resigning Bamba & Beasley to have more tradeable contracts last season, giving every vet min player we signed last year a second year player option. It's just ridiculous. Lebron literally has to take a paycut to help us out. Cuddos to him
It's damn near impossible for any gm to do anything with the lakers. You have to pull off a miracle. Dr. Buss and Jerry West were one in a billion type men.
Some of this was his doing tho. He kinda owes it. He would've been pissed if they refused the trade for Russ. And that was a mistake. The biggest let down was them getting rid of McGee and Howard for me.

They really dont need Thompson as they already have Dalton Knecth and others who can definitely shoot the ball. What they actually need is bigs and i guess a wing who can defend and shoot.

My point is they can develop the rookie into one of their star players over time. Klay is at the tail end of his career and has been really inconsistent after their 2021-2022 championship season. He is not the same as who he once was then. Although Knecth may take some time to develop and improve to the flow in the NBA, him and Reaves have a chance to be a deadly shooters if given some time. I do get your point though.

Klay took a pay cut to join the Mavs and rumors say that he joined them because they're title favorites and to avoid state income tax. Shame, but he has been slowing down recently and age/injuries are starting to catch up to him, so they probably dodged a bullet. As for Derozan, Bulls have stated that they are ready to offload Lonzo and Lavine, but not Derozan. If they are gonna give up Derozan, they are gonna high-ball the Lakers, like everyone else tbh.

If the Lakers get Derozan, it'll work out. LeBron likes to play off ball to preserve his legs, and the BEST AD is the AD that's locked in defensively and snatching boards. Derozan as a defender is still better than DLo which is better than Reaves. Hes also more consistent from midrange than Klay.

Another great analysis. I'd only offer Demar MLE. Doesn't fit next to Lebron. It certainly doesn't make sense trading away Dlo in a S&T for Demar. At least Dlo can hit the 3. On MLE, Demar would be easy to flip for assets if it doesn't work out.
Lakers need to focus on their needs. 1) Defensive POA guard (i.e. Caruso/KCLP type) 2) 3-D 3) Center. We don't need the Lakers Front Office to make desperate moves (see RussW trade).
Actually, I think Lakers need to hire a Front Office like the people running OKC, Denver or (hate to say it) Boston. These 3 teams FO have had clear multi-year plans. Denver jumped at trading for KCP the moment Lakers foolishly traded him away to Washington. Likewise, Boston traded for the perfect 2 way guard in Dru Holiday once the Bucks decided to dump him for Lillard.
Need a FO who knows how to make the smart moves, not focus on big splashy/big name moves .... like keeping Zubac, Caruso, KCP, not trading for RussW, drafting JaimeJ. (instead of JHS) etc.

I also think it's not wise to trade or sign Derozan. He is ball dominant and he does not shoot 3 very well. Although he can create his own space and make shots, I will not consider signing him or even trading for him. The Lakers should not focus too much on getting a 3rd star aboard if they want to win it all next season. They need to find players who can shoot and defend well. Unfortunately they missed out on a lot of players such as KCP, Caruso, etc.

Even before this trade, Lakers had no opportunity to win a championship. Let me explain. Boston has 5 elite defenders who can score. We have 1. We missed out on KCP, Caruso and Mikal Bridges. Those were the only players that were going to move the needle for us. People are underrating these ELITE 3 and D wings, this is the key for any winning team.
