Sarah Meredith Absolutely! I don’t think they’re saying they wouldn’t rather their children had born healthy. Of course, for the child’s sake, you want them to be 💯 healthy. I think they’re saying everything happens for a reason, and this won’t affect how they feel about their baby. IMHO, Things like this deepen a persons relationship with God, and it strengthens, if not teaches, true compassion and empathy for others. On the faith side: As far as I know, no one in the Bible ever asked Jesus for healing and was turned away. He’s the same today, yesterday and forever. I believe it will happen, just not on their time.

Thank you for being honest and saying that it's not always good and not always easy, but it's def worth it in the end since you can end up having a great life regardless of having difficulties, it's still worth carrying on and staying strong and believing and praying that everything will go fine and knowing that God's hands can be put on the surgeons hands and make this little guys life a little bit better now. Anyway I'm glad you have lived life and not doing so as a victim but rather living the best life that is right for you.

Praying for your baby and your family! My godson (1.5yrs old) is going in for his 4th brain surgery tomorrow in Cincinnati and their doctors and hospital are AMAZING. The damage in his brain from the condition that he has caused him to have cerebral palsy and after his last surgery he started walking which was unsure of when/if he would but after each surgery he got closer! They are seriously the best! Praying for a safe surgery, recovery, pregnancy, and delivery for you guys! ♥️

I mean this in the kindest way possible. I know that no one wants their child to have a disability, that no one plans their life this way. But you guys will be the PERFECT parents for a special needs child. Not everyone has the same loving & kind hearts that you guys do. This baby is lucky to have you guys as his parents. Your love for God, and belief in him, yourselves & your child, is truly astonishing. I’m praying for y’all. That little boy will change your life, no matter his diagnosis. 💖

My son at 16 was in a terrible car accident, most of his bones were broken and he had severe internal injuries. He was on his way home from work on a Sunday afternoon about 4:30. My husband drove up at the accident scene and followed them to the hospital, I began praying ceaselessly and arrived about 20 minutes after them. They let me see him on his way into emergency surgery and I got to tell him I loved him and I would be there when he woke up. During surgery a blood clot went into his lungs and caused a condition called ARDS, he had less than a 5% chance of surviving! He was unconscious for the next four weeks and God woke him up on Easter Sunday morning in April of 2000! He had several problems that he was not out of the woods, we prayed! We had church’s all over the world praying for him and I would update every Saturday, he would spend the next eight months in the hospital 6 were on a ventilator because he could not breath with the open hole in his chest. God healed the hole and blessed him with the courage to learn to walk again and to feed himself and become a beautiful human being. He is now a doctor and teaches about being the patient in the bed. He has had several accommodations, he is not boastful because he knows God saved him for a purpose! Never stop praying even when it seems hard or defeating God will always do a miracle with purpose! Love and prayers always!

I have a two friends who’s sons have Spina bifida, one had intrauterine surgery and the other could not due to mothers health, the one who had intrauterine walks completely unassisted with no braces, the other needs braces and crutches for both sides. The difference is really crazy- but both are loved and beautiful people.

Hi Lexie! I discovered your channel a little bit ago and usually do not comment or anything, but I felt the need to share this with you. I am a pre-nursing student at IU, and also was a swim instructor, and one period I had a beautiful little girl in my class who has spina bifida. She, to this day, is the brightest, happiest, funniest child I have ever met, and I fully believe God helps her challenge and conquer the world with every step she takes. She was so brave and willing to learn, and other kids followed HER example. I truly believe this child will be a blessing to you, that God willing he heals by God's plan. I would like to believe that God knew this little boy needs you both as his mommy and daddy, and that you both will be blessings to him as much as he'll be a blessing to you guys. I'll be praying for you! Thank you for sharing your story

I think it’s absolutely incredible that surgery can be done on babies now before they are born. It’s a very secure feeling knowing that babies don’t have to be born and go directly into surgery. You’re going to be so surprised when your baby is born and you realize just how perfect he really is. He’s going to do amazing when he’s born and as he continues to grow.

I am impressed with you and your husband’s faith. My husband and I have been following your journey. Our baby was diagnosed with Spina bifida too, and we opted to do surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Our baby was born on July 12, 2019. He is doing great! His lesion was at L3 and is kicking his legs and moving his toes! God is great! We saw SO many miracles along our journey too. I’m glad you are recognizing the miracles that have happened for you already. Although the journey can feel overwhelming at times, God is with you and will get you through it. I’d love to share any insights to the surgery or answer any questions. Please reach out if you want!

That is the same location of my spina bifida. L4-L5. My parents didn't know I was going to be born with spina bifida until after I was born. I've had 11-12 surgeries from the time I was born up until my early teen years. I am now 27 years old and very blessed I have still been able to live a normal healthy life. As a fellow Christian, I admire your guys’ faith and fervency that you both have had in this tough time. I know this is not news that any parent wants to hear and it can be a hard reality to come to grips with. However, from a place of love and concern, you both need to be careful that you don’t make the desired miracle or outcome you’re praying for an idol. Yes, God does miracles and can fulfill the impossible, but you need to desire HIS will more than the will that you desire, even if what you want is good. Start thanking God for the diagnosis, pray for each individual circumstance or outcome positive or negative that could happen and ask that He would prepare your heart for whatever that is. I guarantee you if you approach God from that perspective, He will honor that selflessness far more than what you could possibly think and bless you even greater for it. Hope this helps!

so glad that you qualify for the surgery. my son didnt sadly because of how he was attached to the uterus. My son went to school with the next baby that did qualify for the surgery. they had the same opening and issues, and she came out so much better then he did. this baby will be better off with the surgery. it has shown to be great for the baby. i pray it works well for him and that you both come through it well! start looking at doctors and finding the ones that will care for him now. also check out the spina bifida clinic at Vanderbilt childrens hospital. best in the country!

I am 25 years old and in my senior year of college. Spina Bifida doesn't go away and is a lot to process but you can live a happy and good life with it. Mine is myelomeningocele and is L5 S1. I also have Hydrocephalus. I had the surgery after I was born because in '94 there was no other option. Praying for your growing family. I hope this comment can be an encouragement. I love how much faith you have had in God! I also love that you continue to believe even though God did not heal your baby. God works in mysterious ways. Like you said in your video, God is blessing every step of the process, from guiding the hands of the doctors and surgeons, to providing the blessing of a home to stay in while needing to stay in Cincinnati. As long as you continue to praise His name, God will continue to bless you and your child. No matter the outcome this child is a blessing and his life has already made a great impact on the world as well as brought great praise to God's name because of the faith you both have shown through this trial.

God heals in many miraculous ways. Sometimes it is not always in the ways we see or what are looking for. I am sure his thoughts were on strengthening your baby for the upcoming surgery. Guiding doctor's hands so they can be steady on such a small little tiny baby. Yes many many prayers have come your way my dear, please don't think they do what you asked. For he knows what is to come. We just have to trust in him. Keep thinking positive. Keep praying.. praying for you and your family.

My cousin has Spina Bifida and he is very active in his life. He has his own family, works, played on a national championship wheelchair basketball league, he can walk just not through places like Disney World but that is due to the fact that he had caught meningitis as an infant before he had is repairative surgery(he was born in the late 70's) so it messed with him a little more. Overall he has a very happy fulfilling life. He never let people tell him he can't do something and has always believed God will tell him when he has gone to far. Blessings to you and your little one.

You have such a wonderful understanding of how God works and he does things in his timing and his way. This in its self is describing something we as humans question all the time and pulls people always from God. We never understand "it's beyond our understanding" statement in the bible. How awesome you can explain this. God bless you and your new baby. I am a new subscriber just to hear his blessings and see the work in your lives thru this. There is power in prayer. I will be praying.

I'm 27 years old (soon to be 28!) and I was born with the worst form of Spina Bifida. I am also an L4 and L5. I am praying hard for you guys. I can't sit here and tell you it is an easy ride, but I can tell you that medicine is so much more advanced than when I was born and he has a good chance of living a fairly normal life. I am thankful that you found out so early on, so you can research and get doctor's advice. I will be praying for healing of your baby, but if that doesn't happen I pray for God's hand to guide your baby's life and your lives.

I have Spina Bifida. I broke my back in Middle School on a bike ride, there was talk of surgery, the day I was supposed to be admitted and prepped for surgery, they took X-rays and saw that my Spine had fused back together. I got to go home that day without surgery.

    Hey Lexie,
I'm really sorry that you are going through this difficult time. It is great to hear that you are acknowledging how God is working in your life, even when it isn't the "ideal" outcome. I unfortunately just found out that I had a silent miscarriage at 8 weeks and even in that time of sadness we could see God working things together. Our hope and comfort is that God is good - all the time!
Praying for you all and the journey ahead - love your sister in Christ.

I have left a message before. My daughter has spina bifida and we found out when she was 18. She has 5 vertebrates missing. She can walk and doesn't have any disability. My question is...is the back open and can the baby move his legs. Was just curious if he could be totally functional without the surgery.

God works in mysterious ways, I admire how strong you both are. We never will understand why some things happen but one thing is for certain, God never gives us something we can not handle. We might not handle it good in the beginning of finding out but as time goes by we get stronger and stronger everyday. I will pray for you and your baby and I believe that God will give you guys the miracle you pray for and I pray that your baby will be okay. I have been watching your videos a while now and you bothe are wonderful people. May God bless you and your family. xx
