We just went through this in April-Cincinnati and everything. All of the scary stuff they say about being born premature happened to us. I got an infection from the surgery and my baby came a week later at 25 weeks. We were in the NICU there for a few months while he grew, but even with prematurity and negative things that came with that, the surgery was still worth it for us. His defect was a bit higher, at L3, but he is able to move his toes, has made it this long without a shunt, and had a complete reversal of the Chiari II malformation. God did a lot for our baby. We’ll pray for you guys. Spina Bifida becomes a new normal and once you get to the other side of all of this, it truly isn’t nearly what you were imagining when you got the diagnosis.

When i was pregnant I was told my Son only had 1 kidney. I prayed and left it in Gods hands. Later in an ultrasound we found out he has 2 just ones in his pelvic. But I stressed so much and hes a blessing because he has a huge heart and is happy. So you're doing all the right things.

Your son is a warrior and will grow up to be a mighty man of God. Praying for your little family! I myself have a warrior and was given his gender and name in a dream when I was 8 to 9 weeks pregnant. The hand of God has always been (and will always be) on my son, Jacob Cade. It is just amazing to me that the name Jacob has been said to mean "protected by God" and Cade means "warrior or fighter" and that could not be more true about my son. While there were many emotions when dealing with Jacob's congenital heart defects, open heart surgery, and subsequent hospitalizations, I have always had the peace that passes understanding, knowing that my Father would work all things for the good. Each and every day, every time I look at my sweet boy, I am reminded of God's power, love, faithfulness, and grace.

Hi, I found you through someone in my mom group... I am going through this now. I was just a week and a half ago that they found something wrong with my baby. HIs heart, legs and brain... However I went to a high risk OB yesterday and he has Spina Bifida, and we have opted for fetal surgery now. I did the amniocentesis, now I go for an MRI and then consultation for the hospital two hours away in Orlando... My husband has maintained his faith through this, I am ashamed to admit that I faltered. I felt like it was my fault, I grew his this way, how could this happen? My mind is spinning, I am hurt for my child, but God will see him through. Thank you for this video, thank you for your attitude about this

I just started following you & wanted to let you know. I have a daughter (through adoption) that has the exact same spina bifida as your son. My daughter is 13! Shes in 8th grade & only our family & her extremely close friends know that she has this. You can’t tell from looking at her! She’s had 2 back surgeries since birth, the first to close her defect & the 2nd at age 3 to untether her cord. Her cord has actually begun to re-together so we may be looking at another surgery soon. I say all this to let you know, that God does have your son in his hands & EVERYTHING is going to be just fine! I can’t wait to watch y’all grow!

God sees the future & he will bring something beautiful through all of this. It makes all the difference how we can except this, because of ones relationship with Jesus. It's hard for me to imagine how people get through difficulties in life without Him. Keep on being strong in your love for Jesus! You both will be wonderful parents! I was really blessed that so many people out there and around the world who are total strangers are upholding you and Craig and your precious little baby in prayer and being so positive and encouraging you both. I too am putting my faith together with all the believers praying for total healing of your baby.
We prayed for your baby at church Sunday morning and evening and I know we touched the throne of God.
It does not matter wether you are born with a condition or you Aquire it later on in life, it makes no difference to God, He still wants to heal and deliver.
Jesus healed many people who were blind or crippled since birth and He still healed them. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. His promises will never fail.
All we have to do is believe. There are many versus in the bible about Gods promises about asking anything in His name that He will do. Even if it's through the doctors hands and wisdom, God is still in control.
Keep your heads up high, keep believing and thanking God and God will do the rest.
    Lots of love and blessings.

This was mid second trimester 17/18 weeks but they didn't wait to find out any real information...they just aborted it. I was sooo disappointed because I'm personally a STRONG WOMAN OF FAITH and I can't even begin to conceive the thought of abortion. You’re such a cute couple. Praying for you daily🙏
When I was researching spinal bifida I learned John Cougar Mellencamp was born with it and I ran across other videos of people born with it. There was one younger kid ( youngish lad? teenager? no disrespect meant) that has had multiple surgeries, but he walks fine and has been a drummer in marching band all of high school. He said he occasionally gets a backache from the weight of the drum and marching so much, but I would think that’s common for a lot of stand up drummers. Anyway I’m praying your little guy has a similar, if not better, outcome. They’ve came a long way medically since most of the videos I found.
Extra prayers for you on surgery day. I’m not a fan of surgeries either, but the doctors were aware and made sure I breezed right thru. You’ll be in great hands.

I am young, healthy, and I have never been hospitalized for anything nor do I have any health conditions. I dont drink, smoke, do drugs, never took baths/went into hot tubs/saunas (one of the things they tell you to avoid when you are pregnant), never ate any of the foods they tell you to avoid (deli meat, foods high in mercury, etc), and never took meds other than my vitamins and maybe an occasional tylenol or colace when I was pregnant or thought I could be pregnant. I am also a nurse, and I started taking my prenatals a year before I got pregnant and all the way through my pregnancy. I also enjoy foods high in folic acid. My husband is also young and healthy like yours. With all this said, I STILL had a baby with spina bifida. God is sovereign and he is in control. My heart aches for you when you talk about mom guilt or blame because I too have been in that dark place. You are already an amazing mom and its obvious from your channel that you take your health, nutrition, and pregnancy very seriously! Prayers for you momma and your precious gift from God!

I started watching them as I was coping with my Son going off to college. 3 years have past and he is going to mary the love of his life and she is a very dedicated church going christian. I have also shared this video with her. I learn more all the time about things in the bible and being a good Christian thru others stories so as I am praying for y'all and waiting to see gods work and miracles thru your son I love hearing the references made to the bible. Honesty loyalty and religion will make for a great marriage.

You wouldn’t be in a situation that you cannot handle. You and your family will only become stronger and closer. Keep your head up everything will be ok.
I also just realized that you live in Ft Wayne. I live in south bend right around the corner from Notre Dame! We’re so close to each other other!

I believe, God uses strong people, who HE knows, that they will go through a difficult situation, to be a living proof for other people. These may get hopeless, if they wouldn’t see people, who have lived though it. HE uses you as proof of HIS love, strength and hope.

something that is really bugging me. This kind of surgery is soo amazing. It hasnt even been done for that long . It is incredible to think that they can actually operate on a baby while still in the womb. And yet they never mention this? Not once have they said they are soo grateful for the fact these doctors can do this surgery. How amazing these doctors are?How would you feel if this surgery wasnt even an option?

I do have a question how do they put your baby to sleep to do surgery on them in the womb? I can't see pain medication being strong enough to have surgery awake pretty much through it? Leaving a traumatic door open? Or do they give anesthesia to baby threw mom in the womb? Really curious...
