@@dsullivan6842 about once a day I get a serious hankering for chemistry knowledge. It's like a chemical dependency... I come watch this Mannich Reaction video and I'm good to go. Chemistry lessons: it's what chemistry students crave.
You're the best because you delve into more specialized topics, many of the great UA-cam channels cover mostly ap level. Thank you for everything you do professor Dave.
Can you make the animations "dark mode" instead of bright white backgrounds? Like a grey bg with white structures? I would gladly help make these if you're pressed fro time.
There is a show called Invincible and in season 1 episode 4 there is a scene with a villian making a clone. In this scene, he goes through a bunch of "lab setup" and then gets a drop of his blood(won't say how because it's awesome)and injects it into the clone lump thing. The next scene is a very rough close up of mitosis or whatever it's called, I do not know. I would like you to break down that scene because if that show is that popular, it is, how accurate is the example they give? What I get from this channel is a personal drive to exterminate misinformation and I love it. Thank you, Dave.
I hope there is a way to hide the translation text. It blocks from watching the reactions on the screen. How were others able to get over this problem? It was a hindrance to watching the video for me.
i love how you try to pronounce the names correctly, as a german i really appreciate that and also you're pronouncing the names surprisingly well especially for an US citizen (no offense)
@@ProfessorDaveExplains Sorry, I didn't want to be cynical or anything. I'm just wondering if - for example, you could spot an error in a year from now if I changed a few atoms here and there and introduced a random molecule somewhere ? I'm not sure how the whole process is discovered in the first place or anything - I'm in computer science and math, I'm not used to this. I know how to debug a program, prove the correctness of an algorithm, and so on, but I don't understand how you can derive this "Mannich reaction" from simpler chemical facts. Sorry if this sounds silly
@@ProfessorDaveExplains you're a great teacher because you explain topics in such a clear way it comes off as you understanding the material thoroughly.

Now can you go back and explain it in English? I mean, whats the point? What practical applications of this word soup are there? Will it give my car better gas mileage or keep the valves clean? Can I use it to gt my shower door shiny and transparent again?
Um, so there are these people called chemists. They do chemistry, and make all kinds of new substances, materials, and useful products. Some young people are interested in becoming chemists, so they have to learn chemistry. If you aren't, that's totally fine, but it's very odd to act dumbfounded as to why anyone else would. And don't call it "word soup" just because you don't understand it. That's also infantile.

R stands for "remainder of molecule" btw because these are considered functional groups to be added to other atoms/molecules
R is the abbreviation for alkyl.
wow i cant believe im subscribed to this guy since high school
This video should have been posted on a Monday.
We need a “professor Dave reaction”
These videos are so fun
Always Creative and Excellent
Came via debunking, suscribed for the refresher course.
very nice presentation
thank you please prof we want video about scope and limination of Biginnelli reaction
Before this video I have just mug up this whole reaction along with mechanism 🙄for my exam now finally I understood this rxn 👍
Heeey Dave! 😃 how are things? Another great vid! Keep it up 👍🏻

I can use this reaction for the treatment of stomach ulcers and for ulcers prophylactic.
I don't know much about chemistry. This was fun anyway! Thanks Professor Dave!

Hey! Are you gonna do any debunking videos soon?
I just did a big trilogy on water! Gonna take a break for a bit. Maybe in a few months.
thank you so much for videos it helps me learn a lot I LOVE UR VIDEOS

I know what I want but I just don't know 😎

And she's alkylating like she's never done before
I sang this.

Love your content, could you tell me more about dr. Berg? Especially about the keto
DOUBT:-why there are minor and major product in a parallel chemical rxn if Stoichiometry is same
please someone explain😖
Can you do a debunking on numerology. I feel like it's gaining popularity and have only found one other guy debunking it.
Mannich reaction works with Aldehydes?
Is it a electriphilic substitution reaction?
Put some videos on spectroscopy
i have several!
Your voice was changed wow
Make a video on ligand field theory.
I'm going to do an extensive inorganic chemistry series in the not too distant future.
The more I learn, the less I know.
Could you make a video about the Mozart Effect? I’m not sure if it is a myth or not
Hi Dave, If you had 12 molecules to take on a desert island with you, what would be those and why? It's just an idea for future videos.
Do you actually know this, or is it just some stuffs copied from a reference book ?
Meaning: without internet access, would you know all of this ?
No, I am not naturally an encyclopedia of all science ever performed by the human race. Nobody is.
