Canizzaro reaction was favourite of our chemistry teacher in high school. Although we never saw it in the lab and only the chemical equations on the blackboard. It's amazing to learn that once organic reactions were considered to be impossible to perform in the lab and were thought to be compounds which only nature can create but after the synthesis of the first organic compound in the lab that myth was shattered. After that world has seen an exponential growth in the number of organic reaction possible in lab, so many that it's not possible for everyone to remember all of them at once.
Who down votes this video? It puts me in stitches every time. Are these the kind of people that believe that you can turn charcoal into diamond if you step on it?
The rate of downvoting here is 3%. Most are probably from people who accidentally clicked or tapped on the wrong hand, which is not hard to do on a computer screen, but is exceedingly easy to do on a phone screen. Some people may be frustrated and resentful because they don't understand the content of the video. And there are trolls, ever-present, like bacteria. It always amuses me that, even though every video I've ever seen with more than a few votes has downvotes, someone ALWAYS comments on it, and wonders how it's possible, wonders what's wrong with people, etc. It's exceedingly common in music videos, where fans of the music form an emotional attachment to the artist and the music, which has a magnetic attraction for trolls.
The Cannizzaro reaction named after its discoverer Stanislao Cannizzaro, is a chemical reaction which involves the base induced disproportionation of two molecules of a non-enolizable aldehyde to give a primary alcohol and a carboxylic acid.
Cannizzaro reaction? More like "Cool, lesser-known side-products can happen!" As always, this was an other fascinating and very well-executed lecture. 👍
@@PunmasterSTP I just saw your comment lol. But yeah long story short I actually ended up switching out of the biology class to a chemistry class for some reason my counselor explained to me and also because I was expelled out of the IB program(😕😕😅). But right now I'm in my senior year of high school and currently taking physics for my last required half credit needed to graduate. Hooray!

Great video, you deserve much more views
this will be quite useful ill be doing organic chemistry in school soon
tnx dave

Hey I just came across your comment and was curious. How did the ochem go?
I like these videos a whole lot, it's good learnins
This video helped me a lot... Thank you so much prof.
Nice explanation

You helps me alot in my chemistry concepts 🤗 thanks Dave !
Didn’t know about this, but I’ll be looking out for it in the future
Ahhh - finally I know how to pronounce "Cannizzaro" properly, thanks!
Do the Bizzaro Reaction next
Thank you
I remember this one, I had it on the lab.

Great video! Can I get some references about this? I need to make a presentation :(
Underrated
Yo dave, can you make a video on osmosis cuz that's what I'm learning right now in biology.
I know it's been a year, but I just came across your comment and was curious. How'd the rest of your biology class go?
