Also I think as he goes through the dead bodies path he thinks Grace is the one who killed his family (esp his brother who he loved the most) and then he sees her killing his mom and snaps.
I think Alex switched when he realised she wouldn’t be with him if she survived so he was gonna lose her either way so he picked the way that kept his family alive

there was actually 24 different versions of the same wedding dress to accommodate for all the different takes and scenes which is pretty awesome. this movie is literally so incredible i love it :)
Alex was trash since the beginning. Not telling her about the game, or even marrying her when he knew it could happen? And then betraying her because after the horrible night she went through BECAUSE OF HIM, she did not want him anymore? He was so selfish and fragile, I swear x)
For Alex, I was surprised too but re-watching it, it makes a lot more sense when you take into account how alex loves Grace - which is detailed with his conversation with his mom when he tells her Grace is "good" and makes him feel like he could be good too. He might love her, but he loves her ability to make him feel good more. So when his paradigm of Grace switches, when he sees her kill his mom, doing what his family been doing (like obv it's not comparable but i think in his mind it's the same) and therefore Grace is not a pure angel of goodness, and therefore cannot save him from himself and his past, he just gave up on her and himself being that good version.
and it's so interesting that Daniel is the opposite, he gave up on himself being good from that day as a kid when he helped the family kill the groom, but then he gained his redemption through his own actions, not by depending on someone's changing him.
I heard somewhere that if they just simply let her go they would've all survived, they didn't start exploding until the Aunt decided that Grace still dies and Alex didn't explode until after Grace took off her wedding ring and asked for a divorce.
I get what you mean, but I think Alex turning mostly makes sense in the writing. The main reason is that he came to the realization that she'd leave him after all this anyway. And once Grace basically confirmed that, it's like, if he's gonna lose her anyway, he may as well choose his family, right? His talk with her in the basement as everything started was the big hint, I think -- the way he was justifying not telling her this was a possibility. It may sound a little romantic at the time but he was specifically saying "I didn't tell you because you'd have left." That's essentially his entire justification, so once he and Grace recognized she wouldn't stay with him, most of that loyalty disappeared. The second reason is him seeing Daniel dead, and then seeing Grace killing his mom. His mom and Daniel seemed to be the only two family members Alex particularly cared for. They were the only two that seemed remotely kind and understanding of how fucked up things were in their family. And especially after seeing her kill his mom, it's implied that Alex thought she killed Daniel. So from his POV, thinking Grace killed the only two family members he still loved, plus the fact that Grace would leave him anyway, he just said fuck it and chose to fulfill the family prophecy or whatever. Really enjoyed your reaction to this, it's quite a fun and definitely underrated movie.
Alex's decisions are mostly selfish from the get go. He said she would have left him if he didn't propose, and he proposed. so he'd rather risk this game than be alone. He risked Grace's life for the sake of his own desires.

He's like an addict who pins his recovery on whether or not his girlfriend stays with him. That's way too much to pin on Grace.

Disagree completely about Alex! There were warning signs all along with him IMO. What he was saying to his mom sounded more like he was protesting too much. All of his actions were him thinking he could just get away with it. His plan was for Grace to pull a normal card, then leave, and never tell her the truth. Also his "if we didn't get married you'd have left me" part. If he truly loved her, he wouldn't risk her life. Even if it meant telling her the truth and she didn't believe him, wouldn't her leaving because she thinks he's crazy be better than having to kill her? There was also the brief part where they established that Daniel did tell his wife the truth and she was on board. Where as Alex didn't plan to tell Grace ever.

Ready or Not and The Babysitter both fall under the Horror Comedy genre. They are both very underrated movies but great in their own way. Love the reaction to this!
I saw this movie in the theaters and I liked a lot actually. But I'm also a Samara Weaving fan, especially The Babysitter. Another good one with her is Mayhem. It stars her and Steven Yeun. Great movie.
In the beginning I’m sure Alex was really on her side trying to help her but with him seeing her killing his mom he knew she wouldn’t be with him after all his family had put her through it was really messed up though how he tried to beg her to be with him at the end so he doesn’t die lmao 😂
I believe the costume designer made 17 different dresses for throughout the film, and they decided to use a big layered dress so that a lot could be taken off piece by piece and be a sort of road map of things that happened to Grace. The costume design for this movie was incredible
Daniel was his moral compass, but he thinks Grace killed Daniel and his mum, so if she's not even guna be with him after what's the point of saving her and having nothing (obviously morally totally wrong, but he's a selfish lil rich kid)

Because he just walked in at the wrong time. If it was his aunt or someone else he would've helped her. But it was the two ppl he cared about the most other than her. That is why he turned on her.
The problem with Alex’s turn for me was that it was a twist and not a build up. It just felt like the writers had this great idea for a twist, planted a few motivations, and then buried them the whole movie until they popped up so they could go, “twist!!!” Unlike Daniel who had a full arc through the whole movie. So it makes the twist weirdly off putting for me. Still a great movie though.

the only reason i look at this in the first place was because samara and melanie.(you need to give a look at wynonna earp) did she watch "Happy Death Day"? i only started watching her a few mouths ago, so. 6:39 i know this is going to make to you uncomfortable but yes you can pull off that dress, stop thinking your body is not good enough. 9:30 animals trophies(not alive but look somewhat alive makes any animal uneasy)+old house(anything unfamiliar makes you feel uncomfortable) i dont feel uncomfortable with embalmed animals but yes they are weird. 12:05 do you know the origin of chess and why the pieces are white and maroon? yes the pieces are not black they changes because stupid people keeps calling the pieces black. simple you go in to a dungeons as a war prisoner and they put you in a linen tunic you know nightdress just medieval. and the reason the white team goes first is because they are the "new" team, and the reason the dark red is not the first is because they play the game before. now you know why there tunics are not white anymore. are you sure you want chess? nice clubbing, medieval style aka using your fists at least in hide and seek she can use a gun.

What’s hilarious is when I watch this movie in theaters I strictly only watched it because I love Margot Robbie. I am not a horror film, but because it had Margot Robbie I was down. So I watch this in theaters pretty much by myself, had a grand old time and there’s the credits were rolling. I didn’t see Margot Robbie’s name, so I looked it up online and found out it was at her the whole time. 😂 and that was the only reason I watched the stinking movie. Well done samara

I just watched this 3 am in the morning and I still don't know what I just watched.

The problem with Alex’s turn for me was that it was a twist and not a build up.
