Thank you for your great long term review. I just got a Sony A7IV two days ago and I was wondering if you think it's necessary to update the firmware for it? There are many horror stories about updating Sony firmware. Did you? I just suscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more videos from you.
Thanks for tuning in! And I just saw that there’s a new firmware update but I haven’t made the jump to it. I also haven’t had the chance to look into it too much yet though so I may hold off until I can
Funny enough, I just got mine brand new a couple of days ago. People get so hung up on new features, when in reality, they either never need/use them or they don't notice to begin with. It's an amazing cam and yes, there are some things that would be great but yet I've to see a cam that gives me everything I want but this gives me everything I need!
Depending on what you’re shooting I would say a zoom lens would be the best bang for your buck. The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 are both great lenses that offer a really great middle of the road focal length
The crop will still be there but shooting wider would help compensate. You just end up getting the look of a different focal length is all. So in short, it kind of works but everything is still technically cropped in
Should people consider buying the A7 IV now, or maybe wait for Sony to introduce their new cameras, like the A7 V or A7S IV? They are expected to be announced in the fourth quarter of 2024, especially after Canon introduced the C80.
Unless they're predominantly doing more video, I would say avoid the A7S IV as a true hybrid replacement for an A7IV as it's more video focused. The A7IV is still a really solid camera, but the initial rumored/leaked A7V specs look pretty solid. It would probably depend more on the timeline of when the person needs the camera. While I think the A7IV will still hold up for a while, the A7V could last for many years to come
As an user, I need to whine a little.. There were things I knew I will miss, before I bought the camera. I really, really miss the pre-capture I could get from OM-1, there is lack of focus bracketing, there is lack of higher fps (even 16 fps would be fine). I could say Sony gives you such amazing camera - but it's boring camera at the same time. I wish next camera have stacked sensor, but already I know it won't have. Other than that, I don't really miss anything. From wildlife perspective, technology is there and it would be great to have those features, to achieve certain photos in my mind, that are very hard to do without pre-capture. Nothing is impossible, but doesn't need to by masochist and act, like there are no such features. From advantages, clear 12.800 ISO images if the photo is properly exposed and sharp, and amazing colours below ISO 1250, there is difference (personally saying) between ISO 800 and 1600 in colour science, slight (5-7% less punchy) but there is, though STILL PERFECTLY CLEAN! I would even go further and say ISO 2500 = zero noise in good lightning. Last advantage noise performance and autofocus at night, really great, reminding it doesn't have AI autofocus like A7R-V and so on. A7-V will be *at least* twice better in all areas and I hope they will put at least those 10 fps of pre-capture.. seriously, I don't beg for 120 fps of pre-capture, just at least that.. And I hope the sensor which will be the same, could have faster readout. Don't know how, but I hope so.
I was definitely hoping the announcement coming out of Sony Kando was an A7V but always knew it wouldn't be. Until that day comes I'll be (im)patiently waiting haha. But I really do hope they bump the FPS enough to be comparable with other cameras in the hybrid category. The pre-capture would also be pretty nice as well for sure
@@Dan_Ways I am scared that as an entry level camera, they will cut as much features as possible. For them adding AI and increase fps, maybe 4k60 no crop will be success, for us customers, thats not enough though. But yeah, we will see..
It probably depends more on what you plan on using it for. They both have pretty similar specs across the board. The a7iv has a slight edge and would personally be my choice
A7IV is literally the perfect camera. The photos and video are the best of both worlds!!!!!
Definitely!
Facts
Had mine for two months. Absolutely love it.
It’s a tank!
that camera is my main for social media content, it's a beast!!!
Same here, love it!
Had mine since 2022 with the Tamron 35-150 f2/2.8 as my go to lens. No regrets. 😍
Pretty hard to beat!
Same setup here. Pure joy.
I've had mine for 2 years and I agree with absolutely everything you say here. This camera is a work horse, and I really see no need for 4k 120fps.
It’s really such a specific frame rate honestly, I shoot some stuff on skis but not enough for me to need it consistently. 60 fps definitely makes do!
Great video brother
Thanks my guy!

I recently bought it along with the sony gm 24mm 1.4f
Ohhh that 24mm has gotta be crisp on it
I have that combo too and it’s an amazing one!🙏
How do you like bro. I’m getting ready to buy either the 4 or RV
@@ej2871 the 4 is a beast but the RV will hammer photos for sure!
What picture profile and iso so you use for filming concerts.
ISO is just dependent on the venue to be honest, but I shoot in slog3

Yeah it's definitely always a balancing act of want vs need. Making do with what is available and creating the best possible product is the goal
Hello, great video! What native ISO did you set? 800-3200?
I think I was at 800 for this!
Upgrading from a Canon Mirror to This camera, might realise these things after 2 years :P
Haha trying to help find em out early!
If i have budget for only one lens for this camere what you say what will be the best ? ❤

24-70mm f2.8 dg dn version 2 by sigma is the best!
@@jeffreye.4273 So good!
Will shooting with different lens in 4k 60 frames per second stop the crop

Everything is great except the price tag.
Pretty comparable to others in the same category. A7iii is still a very solid camera too
