@@IcyDiamond it seems like they spent years(?) making a ton of animations at once so they could drop them all around the same time instead of, yknow, focusing on one animation and then uploading that once it was finished. So they were working on many high quality fully rendered animations--add in moments where you just aren't working--it's obviously going to take a while.
I think what pisses me off most about the nyan cat v grumpy cat battle is how well-animated it is. It did NOT deserve that kind of budget.
Ok I was wrong, Doge didn't deserve that and I feel the strong urge to protect the innocent creature.

I too thought of 2013 Doge as having a kind of baby voice. The fact that the animators assumed that the dog would have a "samurai" accent because it happens to be a Japanese breed says a lot about the studio owners.
Weirdly, I always imagined it in my head as like, the same voice as cr1tikal.

When they revealed the baby being the twist villain of the Rap Battle Royale, I thought it was a Boss Baby reference since that would’ve been big at the time. Minutes later and it connected in my head that it was the Baby Godfather meme from 2011 that just made me burst in laughter that they ended it with an ancient meme. I feel like a grandpa explaining this, but courage wolf was one of the very first memes that are now called "advice animals." From what i remember, it was made very shortly after advice dog (the original of that format). The whole thing with advice dog was that the dog gave terrible or funny advice. courage wolf originally had actual advice that you would consider tough love, or just encouragement to do something physically or mentally difficult. insanity wolf came about a month or so after courage wolf, and insanity wolf was just extremely over the top impossible advice. from my memory, the very first insanity wolf was memorable enough to keep the meme alive for months, which was "bite off more than you can chew / then chew it." I can't believe i even remember that meme. Insanity wolf wasn't really that funny initially, it was more riding the line between self help and cringe. People would often post insanity wolf in the first incel threads, where about gathering courage to talk to women back then (around 2007 or 2008).
as you can imagine, courage wolf and insanity wolf quickly became extremely similar as they were beaten to death and eventually dumped on reddit (like all 4chan memes at the time). In my estimation, the only good or funny insanity wolf was the original one, and it wasn't actually funny. it was just interesting to see an old aphorism turned on its head.
He should definitely remember insanity wolf. Lol he’s only three years younger than me and I distinctly remember that from high school. I LOVED advice animals in high school. I’m 26. I still adore the awkward penguin and calming manatee to this day!

I'm not proud of it, but the second boss baby appeared on screen I broke into tears. I physically cannot explain the levels of satire, cringe, and irony that bounce off of each other like a sunbeam caught in a hall of mirrors that makes it so indescribably funny to me. Not like a kind of funny that makes you happy, but like you got punched in the gut and a laugh came out as the reflex noise of pain.
Amazing how the internet has warped my sense of humor beyond comprehension.

It’s weird he doesn’t remember as a guy that seems to pride himself on being a meme lord. lol I’m 26 and he’s only a few years younger than me. Three or four years. But I remember insanity and courage wolf from my high school years. Also, I never spent time on 4chan. I spent too much time on 9gag though. 😭

Honestly, Animeme was a really fun part of my teenage years (when I was still stupid). The rap battles, especially Old Spice man vs Dos Equis man, were hilarious.
