A much easier way to mount the Watersnake than the kit I ended up with. One of the rudder ropes in my yak has snapped so I am now looking for a way to re-thread it.
If you add a bit of foam or plastic in a symmetrical wing profile around the shaft area above the motor pod it will stop it aerating the prop and run much quieter and smoother. I had the same issue on mine - it's caused by the round shaft causing turbulence and pulling air down into the front of the prop.
@@peterhewitson71 I don't have a photo sorry. One way to make it is to take a flat piece of 1mm x 175mm x 150mm(or ~ the depth of the shaft below the water line) plastic sheet, fold sharply in half to form the leading edge, then place the motor shaft inside this folded piece. Glue the trailing edge and the shaft to the inside of the folded plastic. Basically you are making it the same shape as the leg of a large petrol outboard motor.
Great set up there. We just got two 24T Watersnake electric motors with a Revolution new bracket design. It's shit and taking it back. The brackets have stainless steel nut's but in a nylon sleeve. Can't do them up tight enough. When we turn them on the whole thing just moves. Mine can only do circle work. We are shattered.
@@peterhewitson71 same electric motor as yours but new bracket design. We'll take them back and look at other bracket designs. Hard with different design kayaks.
The plastic block supports the motor, Isn't there a screw hole in the plastic near the elbow? The screw you mention is the one that fastens the plastic to the metal bar. There should be a flat cutout in the plastic with the screw hole in the centre near where the two are joined and it sits under the bracket over the U section in the hull. Thanks for the video.
The new bracket that comes with this doesn't even hold the motor your is heaps better. I'm an auto eleccy and I'll be making my own bracket and controlling the motor with pulse width modulation so you can actually troll freshwater with it. Pretty disappointing when you got to redesign it to work in the shed at home....
It's a shame more work had not been done before things are put on the market , thanks for your comments and taking the time to watch my video . Tight line mate 🛶🎣
My goodness just brought some nostalgia. Haven't seen one of them drills with a cord attached for quite some time.
Old school wins every time. I throw nothing away LOL 😆

I used thin garden wire , pushed it through and attach cord and pulled in back
@@peterhewitson71 Thanks, I'll give that a go.

@@buster_1972 have you searched for DIY brackets on UA-cam
@@peterhewitson71 nah haven't yet. When I get home from camping I'll do some research into it.

Thanks I will check it out , the problem was no instructions when it arrived
Hey Pete, Great vid. Just wondering if you can steer with the foot pedal rudder at all?
Yes you can you need to lock the motor from turning ,but easier with just the motor with short extension on handle
@@peterhewitson71 cheers for the quick reply ya champion
Thanks for the video Peter.
I'm assuming you had the kayak rudder in the straight ahead position, and just steered with the motor yeah?
Hi I had the rudder out of the water completely
@@peterhewitson71 oh okay thanks heaps.
I just got the nextgen 10 mk2 and the same motor.
I'll be setting it up soon.
Cheers Peter.

Hi Peter i have just got myself a kayay the same as yours, do you have register yours as you now have a motor on it. I am in WA also
No , as it's electric I understand you are not required to , no one has pulled me up yet , so I will go with that until I am pulled over speeding LOL

Does the handle extend?
Sadly no
I put an out border motor extension on it works well with a bit of packing
