You’re the only person I’ve seen who likes the mounting bracket and you’re the only one I’ve seen who installed the bracket without issue. Most people like the motor but prefer the screw clamp mounting method.
I prefer the bracket because the 12t does not have anywhere to mount a transom-style mount. I would have to add a transom on which would've ended up being more work in the end. The bracket is pretty sturdy and works quite well!
*I bought this model for my 14 ft Jon boat. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love it!!! It pushes my boat with ease ( 2 men 220 each). I would highly recommend this to anyone.*
I really like to thank you for helping me put my t18 water snake on my kayak appreciate you man nice instructions. Easy to follow. And I did get the job done.
There's a video posted on YT where the fellow attached a "rudder" to the shaft above the motor using a plastic cutting board and he claims it improved his handling greatly! The video seemed to show pretty good handling. Looks like a very easy DIY project that makes a lot of sense. Wouldn't be surprised if the manufacturer updated the system with such a fin on the shaft.
hey there from Norway. First of all: THANKS for such detailed mount-video. The ONLY thing is that for completely newbies like me = my very first kayak, it would certainly have been so nice if this awesome guy had shown how to attach the wires to the battery. I will find out by asking in the store: But would just have been so full circle had he also shown that little part. Thanks again!!
Ha, super simple since he has the battery clamps just temporarily attached to the motor mount. All you need to do is install a 12V battery and put the battery clamps on it. Red positive, Black negative! Have fun.
Great video. I was looking into getting a Minn Kota Endura trolling motor and then I came across a few videos about the watersnake. Your video was the best one i've seen. And as a quilter, I can't help but to love the quilt behind you.
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed the video. After more than a year of heavy use on both fresh and salt water, the motor is still kicking strong! It's definitely a good product. The quilt was made by my Grandmother several years back. I love it too!
I have 3 of these motors and 3 Mighty Max 55ah batteries.. my batteries also power the tv, lights, Bumpboxx and other electrical needs in my '94 G10 Chevy Van.. the first one didn't work on low power so they sent me another, no questions asked.. 👍
Thats awesome! I was impressed with their customer service when mine was missing a part. Very fast and like you said, no questions asked. Great to work with!
This motor works super on a Hobie in the center of the kayak replacing where the pedal drive and the cassette is located. It works great in my Hobie. A little research on UA-cam will show how this is done
I got my trolling motor in late Jan and just been able to test it out these last few months. I made a mistake I would like to share. 1 I forgot to tighten the base down, so it made the propeller go under my kayak. Which cause me to crack and break my long arm at the base. I was able to contact the US distributor and get new parts. I just had to send them a copy of my Walmart receipt and I got notice today that it is on its way. I had purchased a 12-volt 20ah ECO-WORTHY lithium battery which I found out was not enough. so, I came back to see which one you use.
You got the newer bracket like I got when I ordered it . I have been really liking this motor and mount . I am using it on a feelfree lure 11.5. I use it fishing lakes, ponds and snake river . No issues yet .
Sorry to be off topic but does any of you know a method to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my login password. I love any assistance you can give me.
@Gunner Princeton i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Gunner Princeton HOLY **** IT REALLY WORKED! Literally got access to my IG password after about 30 minutes of using the site. Just had to pay 15$ but definitely worth the price :O Thank you so much, you saved my ass :D
Great video - I'm looking to install one of these on my kayak and was wondering if you remove the trolling motor and battery from the kayak when transporting. Is it a pain to remove and reinstall when launching into the water. I transport my kayak on the roof of my car so like to have everything able to remove in order to make it light enough. Thanks!
Hey man, nice video. Do you think this motor would be a good feet for an intex inflatbale boat? I need to figure if I should buy this one 18lbs or 24lbs. Thanks
There are other kayak bracket side mount options out there that don’t put as much stress on the yak that with side rail mount on each side. Also if utilizing the rod holder option you still need to make a hole to tighten the bolts down? Did you consider those? If so why did you opt for this one? PS I owned this motor on a 14 foot Hobie Mirage Oasis and hacked it to utilize one of the pedal drives in the hull. There is UA-cam showing this hack. Cheers
Great video, just installed on side of my kayak, i have no rudder and for the life if me I cannot get it to steer straight, almost had to go sideways up the river, any tips anybody
I just added the T18 watersnake to my tamarack pro and all it does is go in circles. Tighten the steering set screw???? How is the turning for yours. Tight?
I installed this a few days ago, the mount wouldn’t tighten enough to keep the motor in place and when I was finally able to hold it in place the kayak would not go straight. How did you counteract this?
It works great! Awesome little motor. Ultra-light and powerful. I love it! The kayak bracket is awesome as well and I am still glad I went with it over a transom mount as the pros are infinite micro-adjustment, and quick and easy mounting/disassembly. The only con is the motor's power seems to twist the mount if it isnt tightened enough, which is hard because the bolt heads dont offer much of a grip to get leverage on to tighten enough. A quick wrap of Gorilla or Duck tape on the metal shaft that holds the motor to the bracket to provide some grip to the clamps is a quick and easy fix, though and works well! I also sometimes use my fishing pliers to grab the bolt heads and really tighten them down, too!
I haven't been too happy with mine. The props are garbage and break with the slightest contact with anything. Fishing flats in SWFL is not conducive to this motor. No alternative props are available. Had to overtighten mounting hardware to keep it in place. Will be replacing with a Motorguide or Minkota.
Sorry ….. not really happy with the side mount it’s clever ….. but I cannot tighten the hand knobs tight enough so that when you are out on the water under full speed the T 18 motor, can rotate and come up to greet you almost level with your face I had to use JB weld glue weld to allow me to tighten the hand bolts the nuts in the captive mold are just not strong enough to allow the bolt to be Tightened to handle the rotational force on the horizontal motor mount
don't waste ur money on this guys, the bracket is a terrible design keeps coming loose when at fully throttle, my, handle snapped after 1 hour of use biggest waste of money I've spent
The mounting assembly does not handle the torque of the motor. I started mine and the thing jumped all over the place. Trolling motor: good Mounting system: sucks
I use a 35 amp hour Duracell Lead Acid deep cycle. Its a bit heavier than a lithium option, but MUCH cheaper and it gets me about 4 hours of continuous use on half power with the T18 motor. More than enough power for a full day on the water for me as I only use the motor a small portion of the time that im on the water

this is the only vid i have seen on utube with new bracket . I have it and tends to have less slippage .

No problem! I'm glad the video was helpful. It's a pretty sweet little motor!
I'm buying one today how easy is it out of 10 I'm just worried I will stuff something up
Your video is really detailed and informative, thank you very much!

Awesome video man!! Will deff use this set up instead!! Can you show how to connect the Battery to the motor plz!
I got the battery and case that charges the phone or go pro that the company sells .
🎉thank you for this video and stats you are awesome

Tighten the steering set screw????
How is the turning for yours. Tight?
Do you find the 18 lb thrust sufficient? Or would you recommend going up to the 32lb?
After a year of use, i can say that the 18lb is more than sufficient, even in the salt water!
I installed this a few days ago, the mount wouldn’t tighten enough to keep the motor in place and when I was finally able to hold it in place the kayak would not go straight. How did you counteract this?
I just got mine and I got the mount but my Kayak doesn't have an opening, should I use a rivet ?
I recently had this same problem
I cannot recommend the side mount
Hi I have the same motor as yours and I have been told to have motor deep in water as I can get it not to high in the water is that right
If you had a choice, would you purchased the little larger trolling motor ? The T24 or do you think it would be to much?
Thanks!
great video, I have one question how wide does the place have to be for the base mount
the base is 3.5 inches in diameter.
Hi just wondering where you place the battery on the Kayak?, thanks
How much range can you get from a 12v 35 ah battery the 18lbs version?
What battery you using?
Great l have the T 24 this has helped.
Hi mate. Is the motor gonna be damaged if the kayak tipped out?
Front mount on my Topwater 120. Main power switch, steerable, pull motor up out of water and lower,, ALL FROM MY SEAT.
Can I ask why you didn't mount it to the back with the supplied bracket. Then you just lean to steer totally hands free?? Curious great vid
You should do a video of it in use
What drill bit that I use
Whats the measurement of the motor width/length wise bro.
I wonder if I could use these Bolt Anchors
How fast does it push your kayak? Can you troll from it or is it too slow? I’m thinking about getting one tomorrow.
I bought 2 on special last week, I think you will get 3-4 mile per hour on full
Sounds like Customer Service is on the ball..........excellent!! What about QC, missing parts? Mmmmmmm
Got it. The manual says to install a 50 amp fuse on the positive lead. Did you or anyone else do this?
Would be nice if you showed us how it looks when you use it on the water.
You should look into a lithium ion ATV battery. You would be amazed how light they are.
Do you have a link where you purchased your motor and mount
www.amazon.com/dp/B071VYRJNQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_GJN2NVGJF29C4CDZX44B
There ya go!
Hi mate, how did it go in a field test? There is a lot of mixed reviews

What is the shaft diameter?
You can only use about 10amp hours max from that battery...spend the money for a lithium battery so you can use 100% of the power

I bought one but it’s horrible. Using high speed it try’s to come out of the water. Also it will not move the kayak forward on backwards!
Sorry ….. not really happy with the side mount it’s clever ….. but I cannot tighten the hand knobs tight enough so that when you are out on the water under full speed the T 18 motor, can rotate and come up to greet you almost level with your face

The kayak bracket is too weak mine broke off in half and hour.
