      Thank you so much. There is a lot of work putting together videos, I'm sure you know. But seeing the responses definitely makes it worth it. And also never know what videos will do well, is a challenge. With prices I just kept saying the worst they can say is no they will look for someone cheaper. Which that is not who I wanted to be, so I just kept raising prices and that brought different clients. And a lot of my clients were actually paying for the decorations for somebody else such as their daughter in-laws baby shower or family birthdays, etc. It was nerve wrecking every time I raised prices, but I definitely tried to make sure our work reflected the price we were asking. Thank you so much for your comment.

    Thank you for sharing some good information! What did you all end up using, was just a smaller size of command hooks? The end of this video is sooo funny! 😁

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  3 роки тому

      Hi, thanks for watching. Yes it is some good info for sure. We usually get the stronger command hooks that hold like 5 or 10 pounds. Those are the larger ones, but when some one has texture on the wall it doesn't allow the larger space to fully sit flush on the wall. Then since it is not all fully in contact it was falling off easily. We had no idea and my sister had called me and said its not sticking to the wall!! I was like this is embarrassing. I tried it and it wasn't, so I saw the texture and decided to try a small size command hook since the base was small. The small base sat flush on one of the raised textures with no space under it. And it held strong, so I added a couple and we were good. So have all sizes in command hooks just because you never know what you will run into on setup day. Hope that helps.

    New subbie here love your channel! I just recently started my event styling and balloon company, not new to decorating for family and friends but making it a business is completely a new experience, what advice would you say made your business go from side hustle to full time business with consistent work?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому +3

      Awesome! I don't know if I would say I was full time, as I have a full time job in the medical field. But I love to build and make new things. It was my wife and sister they were the family decorators for years doing family weddings, Birthdays, etc. Then when my wife became pregnant, it was just my sister wanted to go all out for my wifes baby shower. They started asking me if I could make some of the stuff they saw on Pinterest for the baby shower, so I did. Then I told my sister why she doesn't start doing this as a business because they decorate awesome!! They were afraid of decorating for others besides family. I was like nah Ill stage like 3 photos of their work and well just post it and see what happens on Facebook marketplace. I posted the photos and said message for pricing and when I came home from work we had like 25 responses that day. Every day it just stayed consistent and we had repeat customers. So the only real advice is the same advice I gave to my sister and wife was just to start somewhere. Take great high quality photos of like 2 or 3 setups and post them any where from Facebook marketplace, offerup, craigslist, Instagram. And if people like your work they will book you. We did not advertise to family and they didn't know we did it because I wanted to prove to my sister and wife that people would book their decorations. They just had to be willing to show people what they can do. It grew pretty quick and I was helping so our weekends became booked every month. We have taken a break for the last couple of months and just have the Facebook up with a picture stating we are taking a break and not booking at the moment. And people still message trying to book. It really is from just putting yourself out there and taking a risk. Good luck and thank you for subscribing!

    Thank you for the advise. For the fiesta theme Garland what type of wall hooks are you using. I am in RSA 🇿🇦 I struggle to find something to use when I got to a setup venu Nd I have no where to tie balloon Garland to. Please advise

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks for watching. The hooks we use to attach to the wall was command damage free hooks. Here is the smaller ones "Command Small Decorating Clips, White, 40-Clips, 48-Strips, Decorate Damage-Free". You can find these online at Amazon.com or most bigger stores. They are for holding pictures and things to the wall with out damaging the wall. We use a lot of different sizes as some are bigger and can carry more weight and some are smaller. For most balloon garlands a good amount of the smaller ones work great. But always having bigger sizes helps because you never know what you will run into when setting up at a venue. Just make sure they say damage free, so they do not damage somebody else property. Thanks for your question!

    hello what do you use to hold the garland together? I'm just starting out with the garlands and tusing he string to keep them together is kinda hectic, i find myself using alot of smaller balloons for space fillers. but your garland always looks fluffy from start

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks for watching. There is really 3 popular ways to make a garland. Really a lot of ways, but these are the main ones. Fishing string, 260 balloons (the long skinny balloons, not blown up just stretched like a big rubber band) and the last one is just wrapping balloons around each other in clusters. The ones I like the best is using 260 balloons or just wrapping clusters. I am hoping to do a video soon on the very basics but Here is a video of the clusters wrapping. ua-cam.com/video/CqBAcAHp9mk/v-deo.html

    @Maker decor what kinds of balloons is best to use

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому

      Really the top brands are the ones shown like Qualatex, Tuff Tex, etc. The most popular brand is qualatex. These all have great balloons and just differ in colors, shine and matte. Each have a variety of different styles of balloons as well. Right now there is a balloon shortage so it can take some time to piece together the colors wanted. Thanks for commenting!

    when you return to breakdown, do you leave the balloons or take them with you for reuse?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому +2

      Hi thanks for watching. We always ask do they want to keep the balloons after. Only like 10% keep the balloons. Most of the time we take them and pop them. We don't reuse balloons, they take up a lot of space, they deflate over time and get dirty. We always use new balloons with every customer install. Thanks for your question.
