I wish they kept the wood classes in school with tools gosh I love to learn each tool even though I wish these Home Depot n lowes would do classes n show people how to do projects with the tools they sell more often so that u feel easy n buy them I bet if they had someone like u n given classes like this people b sign up quick because it’s nice n does make a difference I love all back drops themes , because I lost 4 bones on my wrist I’m lil limited but it won’t stop me I’ll try just like u said have to think how it work for me with my situation n b happy making these stuff for my parties ! Wish u had a garage to put stuff I make … keep going I’ll b watching all videos !
Thank you so much, I appreciate your comments! And yes thats kind of where I got the idea. Nobody was showing how they made backdrops or party stuff online. I just started posting stuff and I am very blessed to have people watch my content and support my channel.
I’m happy I did saw your video with dessert cart n cought my eye n from there I kept watching ur videos n others n I really like how u explain n show us not everyone r the same so thanks giving me ideas !
I’m made up I’ve found you page, the wife and I have decided to start up our own party hire business here in the uk, I am fairly handy with the tools so was looking at building my own numbers, letters and cart’s, thanks for the inspiration on how to go around this and I look forward to more of you videos in the future.
Congrats on having almost 10k subscribers, I knew you would get many more subscribers after I found your channel. You and your family work so hard to make this content smart and easy to understand. Thanks so much, I always look forward to your videos.
I really am impressed with your work! Though there are a lot of us who have zero woodmaking skills. Where in Texas are you? Would you ever consider doing custom pieces for people who are local?
Hi, thank you so much. I am working on being able to create items to make and ship soon. I am setting up everything and hope to be able to start in September and see where it goes. I am located in S.A, Thank you!
Just want to say thank you! I had watched your previous videos on the marquee numbers after one of my clients asked me for some and I did not know what they were. Made it and it looks great! Went with 1/2in baltic birch plywood (4x8 ft) because my HD did not have cheaper yet good looking sanded plywood and I made side pieces spanning the full width of the base. That bumped up the price quite a bit and I used up a full sheet for 2 numbers, each 4 ft tall. (Hoping this can give some practical numbers to other makers :))
lol, yeah that's usually how I build things. But since I started filming stuff on UA-cam I try to use the right tools because everybody will see how it was made vs the end product😂. You can probably get away with a hammer and thin finish nails. Just hit the center of the plywood and you should be fine with wood glue once it dries. Good luck!
May sound like a silly question but what do you do with the excess lighting? I’m assuming after putting in the lights there may be some left over what do you do? I love your videos and want to make one.
Hi, it depends if I only use 9 lights the excess I just leave in the back, but take off the light bulb. Because I dont want it swinging around and breaking. I also use a staple gun sometimes just to keep some of the wire hidden in the back if I need it. Thanks for watching.
Tried building some marquees but don’t have a nail gun, I tried nailing the sides in by hand but the nails would exit the wood thru the side. 1/2” plywood. Do you think if I bought a nail gun it would solve the issue?
Hi, thanks for watching. What kind of nails did you use. Because there are a lot of different nails and thicker nails will cause the plywood to separate. The nail gun I use is actually called a brad nail gun. It only shoots brad nails, which are very thin nails. You should be able to use very thin nails and hammer into 1/2 inch plywood no problem. But a brad nail gun is awesome and does help a lot. It will help with 1/2 inch but not 1/4 inch. Hope this helps!
I bought the guide on Etsy and we are using your stencil but I don’t understand how to add the lights. I have watched several videos and I do not understand the electrical part. Do you buy a chain of patio lights and if so, what do you do with the extra ones? That you don’t use when you connect?? Or do you buy the wire separate, the lightbulbs, the connectors?
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I usually reply on UA-cam with in a day a two due to the high amount of comments. To make it easier and quicker, I answer through Etsy usually with in an hour. And it is easier because I can see what is purchased which makes it a lot easier to answer questions. For the 3ft marquees I use the ones linked below the video in the description titled 10Ft Outdoor String Lights with 11 Clear Edison Bulbs amzn.to/3Fbrheg They have 10 bulbs and should fit the 3ft marquees. But I do leave that part open because you can just buy any lights that fit your budget and follow the instructions on 8:33 to install them. With most numbers I use all 10 lights. But if I use 9, then I just leave the light bulb off and use it with just 9 bulbs and never had any issue. You can just tuck the cord in the back as it is not seen. For 4ft marquees you can fit some with the 10ft lights but it can be slightly snug depending on where you put your light holes in the wood. Which I created this video that discusses it further ua-cam.com/video/HQxca0VqOAs/v-deo.html But I leave it open as they can follow what I did or make more light holes, use different lights or what ever they would like. If you buy 20 ft lights you would just staple the excess lights out of the way in the back and take out any light bulbs you do not use in the front. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions it would be easier and faster to message through Etsy as I wont check this again till maybe tomorrow night. Sorry and thank you very much!
Hi, I believe you can really make it out of anything. I am pretty sure foam poster board and hot glue will work. Not sure about the lights though. I may have to look into that in a future video. Thanks
Hi, for this one I believe 6 inches. But I make them smaller now, about 4 inches for the sides. I make the bottom bigger for stability and to put weight in the back if I need it. Good luck!
Hi, yes on the computer. You can make them on software like photoshop. It does take me a good amount of time to make it right. Some times you can use just a regular size image and go to your printer settings and look for multiple images or tile image. This will make the printer do that. But every printer is different so I would look up settings and see what your printer options are. Thanks
Hi There, I purchased your printable from Etsy. Can I please ask what width you used for all the side pieces please, so not the thickness of the wood the depth
Hi, yes I saw the purchase. The download comes with a sheet of instructions that covers the additional info. The width of the plywood was 4 and half inches.
Hi, sorry I do not build to sell yet. Only the plans and stencils on our Etsy store. Hopefully someday soon we will build to sell but not sure when yet!
Hi, if you use 3/4 for the edges you would need a miter saw to make all the angled cuts. I would not recommend 3/4 as it is very thick. And when you put it all together it will weigh a lot. Heavy stuff is difficult to transport and store. The weight adds up quick. Thanks for watching.
Hi, they are not weather proof especially with rain. But the paint job seals in the wood pretty good and the lights are christmas lights. Thanks for the sub!

Thanks for commenting, glad the video helped you!
I love watching you make these! I’m about to do my first ones a 4 & 0 but I don’t have a nail gun so I’m winging it 🤣

How many ft are your lights ? What do you do with the extra slack of string if you use 7 lights and let’s say it’s on a string of 10

O gracias ya entendí solo la vase de abajo va más asta atrás para sostener gracias
Do you sell the template one size only? I would like to but this but i want to make them 4 feet tall 0-9
Hi, thanks for watching. I just finished the 3ft tall ones. I am hoping to work on the 4ft tall templates, but it may take some time. Thanks
What guage nail gun/nails did you use?
Hi, I used a brad nail gun w/ 18 gauge nails
Can you make this out of another material besides wood?
I am pretty sure you can, wood is just easy and sturdy to work with. It may work with thick poster board. I may have to try it?
Hi can I just keep them without the framing?
Hi, yes but probably put the bottom piece on or find some way to keep it propped up. It should work out, Thanks.
Hola cuantas inches tiene el marco del número de lado a lado
What kind of wood ?
Hi, 1/2 inch basic pine plywood for the back and 1/4 inch plywood for the sides.
Can I use a different material other than wood?
Hi, I believe you can really make it out of anything. I am pretty sure foam poster board and hot glue will work. Not sure about the lights though. I may have to look into that in a future video. Thanks
Hello, do your plans include the angle cuts for each number or just the outline of the numbers?
Hi, thanks for watching. Just the outline template.
@@MakerDecor ok thank you. I was hoping i would get lucky. My hubby won't make them for me unless I tell him an approximate angle he needs to cut at 😔
How wide did you make the perimeter pieces
Hi, for this one I believe 6 inches. But I make them smaller now, about 4 inches for the sides. I make the bottom bigger for stability and to put weight in the back if I need it. Good luck!
How did you create on your computer? I be trying to create with the numbers so it's easy to put togeteher

Ohhh I never saw this!? I will re check my download.
Thank you
Where can i buy your plans
www.etsy.com/shop/MakerDecor
I need to order some from you I am in New Orleans
Hi, sorry I do not build to sell yet. Only the plans and stencils on our Etsy store. Hopefully someday soon we will build to sell but not sure when yet!
Is that underlayment
Hi, no it is not underlayment. Underlayment is usually .5 mill. I used 1/4 inch sanded plywood.
Can i use 3/4 8x4
Hi, if you use 3/4 for the edges you would need a miter saw to make all the angled cuts. I would not recommend 3/4 as it is very thick. And when you put it all together it will weigh a lot. Heavy stuff is difficult to transport and store. The weight adds up quick. Thanks for watching.
I am not good with the angle cuts
Hi, thanks for watching. Everything takes time and practice.
New sub here!! Thank you! Question: how do you make it weatherproof? TIA
Hi, they are not weather proof especially with rain. But the paint job seals in the wood pretty good and the lights are christmas lights. Thanks for the sub!
