the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
Cool! An Amish laptop 👍😃. Jimmy’s skills are always improving. Very inspiring. Thanks for another great video. Merry Christmas.
As a novice woodworker, one thing I love about videos like this is that so many different techniques can be shown so concisely that it makes it easier to see how they compliment one another. Thanks for teaching us a thing or two with your videos!
Jimmy, you did it again.. You stunned me with your magic. I was wondering if Chris Rock ever seen your videos? Great job, Jimmy!!
I didn't like the part where the video ended.
Hand Tool Rescue You can always 'rescue' and fix it! Lol. You and Jimmy, love both you guys channels.
I would have to say that's my pet peeve when it comes to JD videos...
Bwahaaha
Well, there's always the next video. Then you can watch DiResta the story.
Yeah, I was kinda hoping we would get to see him give it to Chris, that would be awesome....
Another great job by big Jimmy Diresta, always amazing!!
Appears so effortless, like water taking the shape of a glass, but when I try & make, multitudes of ugliness come at me & I struggle, but slowly with this kind of inspiration & learning by seeing I get better. Thank you for all you share.
I like your approach to making boxes Jimmy.
You create the lid from the whole of the box, rather than making a separate lid.
Its not only a simpler way to work, it's a more zen way to achieve a beautiful box. You then 'take the inside line' shim the inside of the box up and basically make the male piece that fits into the lid.
I like how you are also 'tack welding' those small strips of wood with the CA glue. Small thin pieces, and staying square can be challenging.
Thanks for all the tricks and great videos Jimmy.
Loved the way you jointed the pieces into a board. That gives the box a whole new level of beauty!
Jimmy makes complex things simple. Great work.
Very cool as usual Jimmy ! Love the mix of the new tech with wood working ! I always liked your silent fast forward vids as I catch on quick and hate those step by step videos where people talk about the obvious crap ! :)
Glueing a strip of rubber to make a hinge, Brilliant!!
Brilliant!! A working piece of art. Thanks for sharing the build. I especially liked your approach to the box corner jig, elegantly simple yet super efficient.
That's so nicely crafted! And to make something that's going to be in Chris' possession! Awesome!
Beautiful box! I like the way you designed and carved the top on the CNC with just the V bit!
Awesome build. Loved the use of leather as the binder.
Thanks for another great video Jimmy. I'm always inspired by your effective sanding methods - adhering sandpaper to a stationary or simple, custom-made hand-held form. As well as your practical ways for holding things in place for assembling, gluing, welding, etc. Been trying to incorporate some into my own (long ingrained) ways of working.
So Awesome! I love the start to finish something from nothing videos and combing in the CNC is fantastic!
I use the same clamping system for cutting boards.
There was a time when you could get boards like those in one piece, but that time is long gone. Still have a few rescued from the fire.
Stunning! Loved the jig for gluing the strips together and the leather 'hinge'. Great stuff, as always!
Definitely like using all the strips to make the front and back pieces. Gives it a nice touch rather than a single wide board!
I WOULD LOVE A BOX LIKE THAT!!! My favorite thing is making people laugh with my very goofy jokes and sense of humor as they say Laughter is the Best medicine
That's something else jimmy! My wife is a nurse and has a cheap plastic clipboard she's been using for a little over a year now that is so cool something like that would be awesome for her imma have to do something about that. I love your videos and how you're so magical with those hands and whiteout tools!
Awesome work Jimmy! 👍👊 ...... being that it's ruled paper, I'm certain that more than just a few of the jokes are bound to be over the line! 😁
ba dum tss
Noted.
This is the sort of builds I enjoy watching! Well done Jimmy, I'm sure that even if it's never used to its fullest potential it will remain a keepsake for many many years.
The poly really made the grain pop! Gorgeous job as always, Jimmy!!
I remember Jesse James (the motorcycle guy(I like him)) said something about how he became too famous to do what made him famous. This is what made Jimmy famous, I hope he never gets to famous to make videos like this.
Leather hinge! so simple yet so elegant!
Excellent lighting, Excellent Technique, Awesome idea with the leather hinge. I just want to go out and make one now! Your Killen it bud!!! So stoked you got the concrete poured! Can't wait to see your toys in that building one day!!! Brian 😎
I wish could enjoy it more than once!
Dang it man! I never comment. From a high-mileage master carpenter; WELL DONE 👍🏼
My favorite part is walking away snapping your fingers. Inspires me to get back in the shop where magic happens. Thank you. Grateful that you share your passion.
Always love a good finger jointed box, never thought about leather as the hinge
Awesome build Jimmy, can't wait for the next one!
I like Chris Rock, he is actually a good guy.
Another nice project... it is always interesting to see how different people put a project together. --Chris can us it to store and compose his "troll jokes"
I love the leather hinge. Really simple and classy. Nice work Jimmy!
_HEY DIRESTA! maybe in a case like this you could drill tiny holes close together through the leather and the wood and stitch it simulating leatherworking stitches, then gluing a strip of wood painted black on the inside of it so the holes don't affect the structural integrity of the box._
this way the leather will never get loose!
Love your videos so much, man!!!
Very...very nice!!! I want one piece. Lol.
first off i gotta say the obligatory, big up Brooklyn.
Second that is such a cool box and i love the use of rubber which makes it almost a hollow book; totally fitting for the purpose.
Now, on to watch this again so i can drift off to the sounds of the shop like i usually do.
I really love and enjoy watching all his wooden work
Old school diresta video! For a minute there I felt like you where back in the basement shop.. awesome work!!
Nice elegant Box Jimmy .. You should call it " Joke box "
Thanks for sharing man. Regards
I was getting worried for a few minutes when I did not see “Diresta” trade mark in few of the shots! Thank god it came back.. I am so used to it 😂 such a humbling experience...
That would be a good gift for John.
John can't write... with anything but a rattle can haha!
Im inspired!! I was really surprised you didnt use brass rivets on the book binding, but your solution was superior in the end. Im off to the garage now.
Simple leather hinge was really cool.
Beautiful work! I like the way you hinged that lid. I've never seen that before.
nice simple and sweet, that's classic classy DiResta yeah man !
Thanks for the inspiration, bro...
Keep on trucking (from France) !
I love the wood and how well it popped at the end
Very nice! Love the leather hinge!
Kickass! I was watching Matthias Wandel's video of when he made a grave marker for his father, and he spray painted the inside of the letters black (Tried burning but that didn't work). Then sanded/planed off the excess paint. Really made the engravings pop! I really think you should've tried that with this piece! The bridge and the letters would really stand out.
That is awesome. I was wondering if there was going to be some sort of hinge. Great idea with the binding.
Always amazed how inspiring your work is.
Thank you for another great video and project
Great details and style on the box! Love the leather hinge, old school.
Always loved you amazing work and simplicity! I have learned so much from watching you videos, thank you.
The leather hinge is a great touch
This is a stunning project -- just beautifully done. I replicated it a few years ago and encountered one small problem wherein the top panel (the lid) bowed a bit with the seasons, since the edges are glued to it in a way that does not account for seasonal movement. I want to make a couple more of these but would like to account for movement if possible. Any ideas on how I might be able to do that (without making the panel floating -- I don't want that look)? Thank you again for sharing this with us all.
Very cool.. I love these types of projects. Great work as usual.
That is a beauty well done brother.
CA glue for the finger/box joints I learn something new every day
Very cool way to clamp a long row of thin pieces.
Here's an idea for a future project: Cover the top of the piece to be cut with CNC with painter tape. The CNC would cut the tape and you could use a dark stain or even a white stain to paint over the letters like a stencil. Then you could remove the tape and the CNC lines would be more dramatic as they would contrast more with the natural wood. I'm not sure if the CNC would cut the tape cleanly, but it might be worth an experiment.
Anyways, great work as always. Your videos never cease to inspire.
Beautiful brother!! 👍🏼 well done! Looks great 😊
I think this will be a great idea for a guest book for wedding 😀
I could do the too if I had a piece of plywood with sandpaper glued to it :) I expected you to paint the letters black and sand the foreground but looks amazing either way.
EVERY Video, I learn something! Thank You! Especially the “Hinge” idea! Definitely thinkin OUTSIDE the box!......wait, see what I did there!..LOL! Headed over to Patreon to hear the voiceover edition! Much Love Brother! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
What a great video!!! Awesome build!!!
Beautiful work! Love your lamination technique, and that hinge!
Nice box. That purple heart looks great..
Nice build & a great video. I am totally stealing that hinge-strip idea
Toujours sublime les créations de Jimmy !!! Encore bravo !!
That is insanely beautiful work, Jimmy. 👍🏼😈👍🏼
Really cool. Thanks Jimmy.
I find it cool that you made something for Chris Rock!
For glue ups like that some wax paper or butcher paper that is plastic lined works faster and cheaper than all that painters tape. I am way to frugal with the stuff as it is not the cheapest thing to use for certain things. Love the content of all the vids you post and is really pushing me to put out more of my own. Keep up the good work and the fun stories of your escapades with Taylor! She is a keeper for sure!!
Great job!
Awesome 👍👍👍👍
Awesome work as always Jimmy!! I wish I had your motivation so I could get these Christmas presents finished..
very good, fantastic.
Great design and loads of great making tips, thanks Jimmy.
Gorgeous piece jimmy !
Wow, and that purpleheart is not easy to work with.
Great job man!
Fantastic as always, congratulations. From Italy with affection :)
Enjoyed that!!!! Love the addition of the CNC work!
this video gave me ptsd flashbacks of when i repaired rosewood guitar necks for gibson. but the end result here was much nicer.
thank you very much for your subscription to my channel you are a big brother
Impecable Brother 👍
Beautiful as always. Make it look so easy. 😎
Fantabulous!
Cutting the fingers on the table saw almost gave me a stroke.
Awesome, and very inspiring! I just want to get out in the shop and start making!
Great work, like the clamping jig
Great built Jimmy! Hello from New Zealand!
Awesome job! The finish gives it a really nice look! Let the jokes start! Cool joint!
It looks awesome! Thanks for sharing another great video. 👍🇺🇸

i hope they gave you tickets to the show. This is pretty amazing!
Cool. Great concept. I like the panels made of the thin strips. I only ever see you and Tim Sway doing that.
